Apache Power Bowl. Tender beef, delicious and hearty.

If I could give this cafe a higher rating, I would. This place is special. Chef Nephi Craig has created a world class culinary treat where you would least expect it, using local indigenous ingredients. The level, quality and presentation of the humble 8ish item menu would stand up to any 5 star hotel cafe. The menu is thoughtful, creative, healthful and is rooted in and with the Apache culture. To top it off he also employs local individuals who have gone through a rehab program, giving back to his community and making a difference. To say Cafe Gozhoo has some "magic' sounds cliche, but do yourself a favor, watch the documentary, "Gather" then make the drive. You won't be disappointed. Great customer service, clean and healthy food with a great story and even better mission. NOTE: address on website is incorrect; the right address is; 5624 N Chief Ave., Whiteriver, AZ.

This place is a gem! The menu is limited but the three items we had were fabulous. Fresh and tasty. You stand in line to order, but the food and drink were brought to your table. It's really a lovely space but small. It's a good thing that a large portion of the customers take their orders to go.

Great people, healthy food made with love and choice ingredients. Don't pass by this little gem!

Healthy, tasty, salads, and sandwiches. Serving sizes are perfect! Price reasonable. Friendly, quick service.

Something good is happening in Cafe Gozhoo. This place is unique because the chef is providing a safe place for the community to heal from internal struggles. The focus of the meals is the seasonal harvest. We drove up here to taste the chef's creations. I ordered the Three Sister Salad and Recovery Rice and the Burrito Steak. I was very impressed with the salad, it was a generous portion. The burrito was balanced with meat and shrimp. This place is special and definitely going back again to try their fall/winter menu.

Three Sisters Salad on August 23, 2023. The best salad, not only among indigenous menus, but any type of American cuisine.

Once you walked in the front doors, though, you could see the host/hostess stand. We were greeted, shown to a booth and given menus. We were there for lunch. The menu had some specialties since we were on the Apache reservation. I absolutely love Fry Bread and they had it alone with honey and, also, a hamburger with fry bread as the bun. Everybody but me had a cheeseburger with the fry bread bun. I had the chicken wing app and a fry bread with honey. My wings came first. Then, my fry bread. My fry bread was huge! It was larger than my head! It took a few minutes and the burgers came out. The fry bread for their burger was the same massive size. You have to see the photos! They tore the fry bread into bun size and had fry bread left over to have with honey. Win win! Our server came over when we were paying and explained the cook had to whip up more dough for the fry bread for us! How nice to do that! That earned the extra star. The chicken wings were delicious, too! Big wings, good coating and tasty, spicy sauce! Service was very good. The booths could use new padding but it's not that big of a deal. I would definitely go back and recommend stopping if you head out to Ft. Apache!

They serve basic American food, and occasionally have specials going on. I've even seen them have a Mexican food buffet setup here. The staff is almost always friendly, and I've never waited long for my food. Overall it isn't a bad place considering the location, and the only other option is some greasy Burger King.

A little advice: if you are going for breakfast, arrive early--especially on a weekend. Darbi's gets busy! But whether you are waiting for breakfast or lunch, trust me, it is worth it. The portions are enormous, the food is excellent, and this team clearly knows how to serve a crowd. They have the whole operation dialed in. The restaurant itself is adorable, full of personality, and has the kind of lively, welcoming atmosphere that makes a meal feel like part of the vacation. For lunch, Dan ordered the Monte Cristo, served on a French toast bun with raspberry compote for dipping. It was sweet, savory, crispy, and absolutely delicious. We shared it, of course! I ordered the green chile cheeseburger, and it was packed with flavor. Breakfast was a whole adventure. We ordered one cinnamon roll to share, not realizing it was approximately the size of four normal cinnamon rolls! We both laughed, cut ourselves a slice, and immediately asked for a box. It was warm, ooey-gooey perfection, loaded with cinnamon and butter and covered in cream cheese frosting. Honestly, it may have been the best cinnamon roll I have ever eaten. As though that were not enough, we had also ordered a side of bacon--four generous slices--and full breakfasts. We both chose the prime rib Benedict, and it was incredible. The eggs were large and beautifully colored, the English muffin was tender, the sauce was just right, and the hash browns had that perfect crispy crunch. Needless to say, we did not finish everything at either meal. Darbi's definitely believes in leftovers! The prices were very reasonable, and the waitstaff was friendly, attentive, and welcoming during both visits. Between the huge portions, creative dishes, fun atmosphere, and outstanding food, Darbi's is a must for breakfast or lunch in Pinetop. Go hungry, arrive early, and save room in the car for your leftover boxes!
