I really loved the frybread here. Fresh, perfect texture, delicious. I also thought the owner was friendly. Awesome stop during a visit to Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests/ The White mountains. Note that they open at different hours than those listed on Google Maps and do not update the hours on Google when they are closed during the listed hours. They do post on their Facebook page when they open and are responsive to messages on there. They run this business from the back of their home. I got the fry bread with beans but got them as a side (Was charged same price of $6.50 for frybread with beans). They do not use lard in the frybread and do not use lard, chicken stock or beef broth in the beans. They surprisingly didn't know the word vegetarian and at first told me they don't make vegetarian food but the fry bread and beans were naturally vegetarian (and vegan) based on the ingredients they listed when I asked to clarify. Their Frybread is made with enriched bleached flour, baking soda and water. Beans are made with vegetable oil and salt. The beans were simple but good. We like them more after we added salt that was available on the condiment table. The condiment table had raw honey and various mainstream hot sauce (some hot sauces were past their expiration dates) They had a sink in the front which is useful after eating the honey. They have some tables in the front. Their home and business is located on the Fort Apache Reservation. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! Ordered a bean and cheese and green chili burrito at about 4pm and it ended up hurting our stomachs bad. You can tell the beans sat all day and the ground beef for the green chili wasnt good at all. Like a gravy mixture. I wouldn't recommend nor would I go back. This place is overrated. I should also add that I found a piece of napkin in my beans. read more

I was up for the weekend and saw there was a Frybread stand nearby. Admittedly I usually head towards the main drag in Pinetop for food. I'm glad I went the other way to try out Perry's. Perry's is off the beaten path a bit, but there are big yellow signs guiding the way. The stand is on the front porch of house. There's a bell to ring for service. We ordered a Frybread with bean and cheese and an Indian taco. Both were really delicious. I did feel like this bread was thinner and crispier on the edges than I'm used to but the middle was soft and pillowy. The beans were a little on the bland side, but admittedly, I would have wanted hot sauce either way. Right now there are two picnic tables, which probably isn't enough seating when it's busy, but there's a plan to add more. I'm glad I got to patronize a small, indigenous and family-owned business that serves delicious food. read more

So I went back to where I graduated high school. It's been almost 25 years since I was there last. I was feeling a bit nostalgic while taking this trip down memory lane and I wanted an Indian Taco. Vendors used to sell food from the back of their trucks during lunchtime way back then, but that wasn't an option, so I decided to track down a good substitute. Enter Perry's Frybread Stand. It is a quaint little place with a lot of personality and absolutely embodies the concept of small business. I ordered Frybread, a Frybread with beans and cheese, and a Green Chile Burrito. It wasn't as good as the food my best friend's mom and grandma used to sell out of their truck, but it was a respectable second. Thank you Perry. I was once again a kid for a few minutes....at least until I paid 80$ to fill up my car. read more

Awesome Prices and Good Native Foods... I was jeeping along in the Sitgrieves National Forest and came out through the Indian reservation and saw this little food stand open for business. The sign on the front of the deck shows really good prices so I thought why not get myself some lunch. I was greeted by a young native girl who was quiet yet very polite. She took my order and disappeared and came out five minutes later with the largest fry bread Apache burger I've ever had. The hamburger patties inside were not especially large but the fly bread was really good and really thick. I loaded it up with the hot sauce they had on site and gobbled it down or until my stomach was totally full. You really can't go wrong with a menu that ranges from 3 to 5 dollars in the price range. If you're in the neighborhood, this is the place to go to get a good deal on some good food. Besides it's always nice to support the little guy having a small business out of their home. read more

I don't care who you are. I don't care how far you think you've gone to try the newest of new food truck or food stand. I bet you've never driven through the woods in a jeep on a back road that only locals and loggers know. Then head into the back side of a Reservation only to drive around looking for a small hand painted sign that only says "Frybread" with an arrow. The original place was closed but there was a new stand open up the street. Its a small shack made of bare ply wood. A simple sign with the types of Frybread listed. We usually get the fully loaded Frybread called the Indian Taco Plate. The Frybread is coated with refried beans then shaved Lettuce, Diced Tomato with Grated Cheddar Cheese on top. If you've never had Frybread you are missing a special treat. There is nothing like having a real Frybread made on a real reservation by women who have probably made Frybread for longer than you can even imagine. Bring your own salt and pepper because they usually don't have any. We also brought our own purple onion to sprinkle on top also. But those things are not necessary. We have just had these for so long we know what to pack along to add. At the end we had the dessert version of Frybread. A regular Frybread and all you add is Powdered Sugar, and a dash of Cinnamon Sugar. Its so good and probably more Frybread one person should eat in a sitting but this is a once a year thing so indulge a little. Cash only also. They are not open in the winter and if its raining at lunch time in the summer they shut down. You better time your visit accordingly. We love it and forgo mud, dust and cow herds through back roads just to get some. A unique food experience that I bet only a handful of outsiders have ever experienced. Perry's is a residential business, but they do it up right. They have simply put, excellent Apache Fry Bread. I've always heard it called Navajo Fry Bread, but these are the White Mountain Apache Tribe, so I've learned to adapt. Stop in Saturday's and Sunday's until 4pm to satisfy your yearning for good, homemade fry bread. read more

Best fry bread we've had in years! As big as a dinner plate, but light and tender, for $2.50. Served with all the usual accompaniments. They also have Indian tacos, Apache burgers and green chili plus a few other things. Canned beverages are 50 cents. We will be coming back to sample a few other things. It's located on the front porch of a house in a residential area on the White Mountain Apache Reservation. Picnic table under the trees in the front yard for al fresco dining. Don't let the outward appearance put you off if you want some delicious, authentic Native American food! May only be open on weekends. read more

Actually found this place looking for another and so glad. The service is pleasant with picnic tables out front and also courteous. The fry bread was freshly made and delicious! I had the Indian taco and my friend had the plain with honey. Puts fair and carnival fry bread to shame. It is located in McNary which is on the way to Hawley Lake and Sunrise ski resort. The best fry bread ever. The girls cooked us fresh burger in a cast iron pan on the dirt floor of the house. This was spoon onto fresh frybread and topped with lettece, tomato & cheese. We sat on a picnic table and I ended up feeding the stray dogs that hang around there. I would have got another but we were on a time schedule and needed to get going. I've had a lot of fry bread in the area but this is definitely the best and cheapest. The squeamish & judgemental are missing out. read more
