The Rapp
Melynda B.

I placed an order thru DoorDash. I love the Rapp but it's not enough food for the price (photo next to my hand to show how small it is for $8+). Two of the sides were also incorrect. DoorDash did offer a partial credit but I won't be ordering from here again. The food is good (when correct) but the prices aren't worth it for what you get.

Bacon very burnt and not even a full strip.

Eat here at least once a week and have been pleased but this experience was extremely poor. 3 customers in the building & waited almost 30 minutes for pancakes & bacon. Asked for new bacon due to it being burnt and not appeasing.

This spot is a great breakfast/brunch place with something for everyone! The menu has a fun mix of both savory and sweet options, so it's perfect no matter what you're craving. I tried the breakfast sandwich and it was absolutely worth finishing--so good! The sweet potato fries were a little on the crispier side for my taste, but still enjoyable overall. The vibes are exactly what you'd expect from a busy brunch spot--lively but not chaotic. You order at the cashier and grab any seat you like, which keeps things casual and easy.

I have always gone to Cafe Gouda for breakfast or called in my breakfast order to go. My order has always been ready when I arrive and they are also consistently accurate! I like to order the Breakfast Rapp which keeps me full past lunch. Yesterday, I placed a to go order for lunch and it did not disappoint! The Gouda Delight Sandwich was huge and the flavor combination was spot on. I had to wait a bit since a placed my order at the counter but they were also busy. This is a restaurant where you order at the counter and the food is brought to you. You have access to your own refills so do not expect any table service! The food is amazing for both breakfast and lunch, I would recommend either!

Great little cafe with a great variety. Our group of four enjoyed breakfast and the pimiento cheese burgers.

Couple opportunities this round, red beets in the beet salad were crunchy and waited a bit at the table before waitress came by. She made up for it and rest of the experience was great. My chicken on biscuits with gravy was delicious. Sweet tea always a welcome treat too. This is a regular go to for us and should be yours as well! Good Selling!

Last night we had a terribly disappointing experience at the Olde Hickory Station. My husband and…read moreI are spending a lot of time in Hickory and have an apartment nearby to help with my daughter and son in law's infant twins. After a nice weekend with additional family in town for a special event, I suggested this establishment as I have had many good experiences here in the last 6 months. When we decided on this location, we called ahead and were told no reservations we taken, first come first served. So with the twins and their cousin, we had 3 9-month old babies. Very aware of the complexity of this, we brought hook on chairs and arrived around 5:00. The hostess tried to seat us at a much too small table in the back room, and when we inquired about a larger one, we were told it was "reserved ". . We were seated in a long booth in the bar. The waitress seemed very rushed and upon first visit to table asked if we were ready to order. We were not told of any specials, etc. Good news was that we had decided to be ready and get our full orders in quickly. We ordered an appetizer and cocktails to begin, which came out quickly. My Son in law asked for a fairly plain burger, but wondered if fried onions which were listed on another burger could be added. Waitress said " prob not... but I'll ask". It did not come with the added onions. I asked for my favorite pizza.. she said there's no pizza tonight. While waiting on food, we asked for a couple of orange slices, which we had taken from cocktails to entertain/feed the babies. Waitress said they couldn't do that because the oranges are for the bartender garnishes. I asked for another cocktail with extra oranges and thankfully was given one extra sliver. When our meal was finished, our curt waitress asked if we needed anything else, so we just asked for the check. No suggestion of dessert, etc. We were never visited by the manager to see how all was going... because if so I would have asked if this was establishment policy or simply a rude waitress. We tipped 15%... and let that be it. Note that the babies were fantastic... very little fussing at all. We kept all except the floor cleaned up after them. On our way out... we seemed to be on the waitress's way... she never said anything like have a good night, etc... but shouted "Behind you!" twice on her way to deliver another table's food, and as we were getting out of her way to leave. A disappointing end to a restaurant experience I'd enjoyed before. Note to self... not particularly baby friendly.

Really cool spot! I…read morewas at the Planet Fitness across the street and looked up restaurants and bam! Awesome sandwich and awesome staff. They aren't just friendly, they are cool in a professional manner. It looks like they have a late-night vibe with live music too. I didn't hang around for that but there's a back area with another bar, a space for live music, pool tables, and high tops. Oh! And they have outdoor seating at the regular restaurant when the weather is nice. Definitely going to be my go-to spot in Hickory, replacing Kickback Jacks Hickory (still love the Mooresville KBJ though). Hickory Social House is highly recommended!

We went with the four-cheese pizza, which was very good, nice crust and the right balance of gooey, flavorful cheeses. The beer selection was solid too, with a nice variety of local and craft options to choose from. The service was great from a server named Bob. It seemed like a busy night, and the noise level was pretty loud and it was hard to have a conversation without raising my voice, but I guess that's part of the lively vibe they're going for. Overall, it's a fun spot with great food and drinks, but if you're looking for a quiet evening, this might not be the place during peak hours. I'll definitely be back, though and maybe next time I'll try one of their food options or just the pizza again.
