Thought we would try another place for breakfast than our go to breakfast place in Conover which is Dick's Cafe and now wish we hadn't Walked in around 9:30 and it was packed and was told it would be a wait because they were down one server. Once we were seated, service was just ok due to the fact they were busy and short staffed. The food though was not good. My wife said her scrambled eggs were over cooked and her wheat toast was burnt. The grits also had a burnt taste to them. We both left about half our meals and didn't finish them. We both like strong, black coffee and the coffee here was very weak and tasted more like coffee flavored water, so didn't as for any refills on our "coffee". Overall not worth it and a waste of money, so this was two visits in one, first and last! read more

I ate lunch here for the first time recently with a friend & we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. You seat yourself & staff will come to your table to take your order. Staff were very friendly & attentive & everything was made to order quickly. There are daily specials & the portions are great for the price. I would like to come back soon to try their breakfast. I am giving four of five stars because the building seems to be a bit run down, it is located at the end of a strip mall. read more

The biggest pancakes on earth is here! Wow I was shock how big these pancakes were. I had enough to take home for breakfast the next day. I had basic scrambled eggs and french toast along with my gigantic pancake. My family and I even tried "Liver mush" that was very different and it was actually not bad, I'm just not a fan of the texture ‍ but taste was it was good. We shared just one slice just in case we didn't like and the overall conclusion its not something we would purchase again. Only thing negative you never know when and if they are Open on Saturday's it a hit or miss. Some of us can only eat here on Saturday due to work kinda sucks when you drive up there and they are closed. read more

First time....walked into a full house. You might expect the locals know a good thing when they eat it. And...you'd be right! This place is a jewel. It is in a strip shopping mall, not elegant or extravagantly decorated. But, oh my! From the coffee, cold brewed tea to the fruit, everything was excellent. A test we use is the eggs we ordered scrambled soft, actually soft. They were! The tenderloin was awesome. The grits are exceptional in flavor and not at all lumpy, even late in the morning. We have only had breakfast, they are open for lunch but close at 2pm. We look forward to a lunch here and are determined to return. In spite the hungry mob of our new neighbors, the staff was calm and efficient. They dealt with all of our requests with friendly service. We cannot say enough that if we need a home cooked meal, their kitchen will do as well as ours. read more

I stumbled upon Four Peas in a Pod because I was in town for a training and the Pho' place I wanted to have lunch at is closed on Wednesdays. When I first walked in I was shocked at how big it was. I also noticed an ATM machine right up from which told me that they probably don't accept cash (I found later that they actually do accept cards, but you get charged a 3.99 service fee, and the ATM charges you 3.00) so cash is best but not your only option if you just don't gave any. It was lunch rush and I was alone so I sat at the counter to avoid taking up a table. My order was taken promptly and I got my cheeseburger and tots very quickly. As I ate the place filled up quickly. The person who waited on me told me they were short 3 servers that day, but they seemed to be handling it. I'd go back, but I'm still bummed I missed the Pho. read more

I suppose I was just expecting more...! We had a simple Saturday breakfast that was not overwhelming good nor bad. First time inside as I thought this was a small 8 table joint but man-o-man was I ever surprised. Would 50+ tables be about right... I wonder. They were short of staff, the waitress's were buried, the kitchen as well and the place was packed. Have not been in a hurry to return but we will probably give it another go. Prompt, friendly service with a sanitation rating of 98. The turkey and dressing on Tuesday was excellent and lots of sides to choose from. I had the pineapple casserole which is very sweet to my liking but I had no problem putting it down This was my first visit but won't be my last. read more

It's a local country restaurant so I try to set appropriate expectations. When you walk in there's a signed picture of Kelly Clarkson hanging on the wall, thanking them for her experience there. I'm guessing she didn't have to get up to refill her own tea as I did. She probably didn't get say a tables so bunched together you were sitting beside everyone in the restaurant. I'm sure she had a lovely experience. I did not. Mediocre food, horrible atmosphere and bad service. Even the table of Bibles oddly stacked by the front entrance couldn't help this place. We LOVE Four Peas in a Pod! Best country breakfast in the Hickory/Newton-Conover area. Whatever you do you have to get the grits! It has a down home feel and down home meals this place is our go-to especially for breakfast! Great place to visit and eat and the staff is friendly and nice!
