We chose to have Gianni's cater my parent's 50th wedding anniversary, and we couldn't have been happier. All the guests complimented how tasty all the dishes were, and the staff even helped me carry the orders out to my car two blocks away (gotta love that Mt. Dora parking!). My husband and I booked a last minute trip to Mt. Dora recently for a late birthday celebration. While exploring the beautiful streets of my old hometown, we came across Cafe Gianni. Nondescript and homey, the cafe instantly spoke to us. My husband had the rigatoni amateiciana and I had the chef's special, Sacchetini Pasta. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable even though our poor server was the only one servicing the entire dining room that evening. The finishing touch from the evening was Gianni coming out to ask us personally how much we enjoyed our dinner. If you like hot, fresh, authentic Italian cuisine, you'll want to give Gianni's a try. Came due to the reviews and it was a TOTAL miss. First of all, the staff and service was GREAT. No complaints about the staff. In regards to the food, one star - if that. The menu BRAGS about the chef being from Italy, but the food was SUPER bland and lacked flavor and salt. I got the Chicken pasta with spinach and prechuto. The sauce was PURE watered down, and the chicken was SUPER bland. My date had the Rigatoni bolognese, and the sauce and meat was also bland, no flavor. We were very confused on why this place had almost 5 stars when Olive Garden serves better more flavorful food than this place. Once more, the staff was great though. read more

We were visiting a friend who now lives in Mount Dora and she had heard good things about Cafe Gianni, so we went there for dinner. We were quite pleased with our dinner. While the dining area is small, its comfortable and homey. Our waiter was delightful and very informative about the menu. All three of our entrees were delicious and generous in portion size. Considering the happy faces and compliments coming from guests at the other tables, it would seem that Cafe Gianni is a local favorite. Definitely a restaurant we would return to. read more

my boyfriend and i came here and were out within 45 minutes. fastest service we've ever had! came in, no reservation, got seated within 3 minutes, put in our order after about 5 - 10 minutes of being seated and looking at the menu and got our food in 10 minutes. everyone was so friendly and quick. the food was so good. if it wasn't so far away i'd come here frequently! bill came to about $48. portions are about the same you get at olive garden hut better quality and tasting food! read more

Chef Gianni has created a superbly original and delightful restaurant in little (and busy) Mount Dora, Florida. There is a happy and friendly atmosphere here, and the Chef will most likely great you at the door, or during your meal. The waiters are professional and also helpful. The menu is creative, and the recipes are original and masterful. It would be an under-statement to say only that the food is delicious. It is refined and satisfying in a sophisticated way. For Valentine's Day, Chef Gianni created a special menu, and the sauces must have been simmering for hours. But that is typical here. With each meal over the last several years, we have felt that the food was prepared especially and uniquely for us. We will make a point of dining here each time that we visit the area. read more

Had dinner at Cafe Gianni last night. We have eaten there many times and the food is always absolutely delicious. We ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese, Veal Scallopini and Smoked Salmon with Penne. All meals were over-the-top delicious. One of our dinner party is from Manhattan NYC, and said the bolognese is the best he has eaten anywhere. My husband & I were heading to the 'Bavarian Haus' in Mount Dora for lunch. Unfortunately, they happened to be closed, however, we decided to try 'Gianni's Italian Restaurant' right next door. First please forgive me as we ended up here by mistake, which is a story in unto itself. So I wasn't prepared for what I experienced. It all started with an error that ultimately lead our group here. We arrived around 4:30 on a Sunday and we're taken upstairs where additional tables, but we were comfortable with the additional space. The menu is non descript so use the pics and order with your eyes. I can't tell you what the others ate, but I had the Penne Shrimp Bianco and was blown away. Ive spent a good amount of time in Tuscany, Sardinia and Campania and this dish took me back to those memories. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, maybe bathed is a better term as they were tender and really good. I love capers and this dish had just enough briny hint to break the creaminess of the sauce making it lighter than it is. I was completely engrossed with my meal that I didn't utter a word during dinner - and I am told that that was a treat by itself... I will seek opportunities to come back here. I came here or your ago and when I knew I was coming back in the area I knew I had to visit again. The service is always impeccably quick and friendly. Both times I had the same thing: Italian sausage sandwich, with grilled green peppers. There marinara sauce is so tasty and everything is cooked to order. Their lunch special Italian sausage sandwich also comes with a decent size salad. It is seasoned with a tasty homemade Oil and balsamic vinegar dressing. I also tried the La Rossa Moretti Red beer. With 18% alcohol, this beer packs a punch and has a nice nutty finish. This is a must visit if you are in Mount Dora. read more

Outstanding! I am always apprehensive to eat Italian food while away from home. My sister recommended that we do since she had been here and really enjoyed her meal. I ordered the penne vodka and added sausage, she ordered the eggplant. The vodka sauce was perfect, so creamy and the sausage was delicious. The eggplant was also sooo good. Service was slow and it took multiple asks for our spread -too-thin server to get us napkins and bread. Despite that, we would give it another try because food was very good! I had Sacchettini, a delicious, creamy, rich pasta dish with a hint of sweetness from the pears. Wife and mom had penne vodka and they seemed to enjoy. Dad had linguine with clams and he loved it. Few mixed opinions based on the group I was with. Most of our meals were pretty good, typical Italian food, decent portion sizes for the pasta dishes. Other dishes were a little on the smaller side. Now the issue is when booking the reservation I confirmed they could accommodate for vegans, I was told yes. At the restaurant we also confirmed with the waiter and a few dishes were confirmed to be vegan. Well a few in our party ordered the VEGAN dish and guess what, not vegan. An apology was not really given and only a discount of 10% was given on meals that couldn't be enjoyed. Butter is not vegan as it is a dairy product and that could be a huge issue for someone, especially when ordered to not contain it. Had a more appropriate response been given it would have left me with a better review of here. read more

My son is celiac and we've ordered and paid more for a "gluten free" pasta dish that end-up being regular pasta and gave him a bad reaction minutes after we left the place. Most of the overpriced food tasted okay, but the $7 dollars add on chicken breast was a nightmare - dried, rubbery and tasted badly reheated . I came to Mt. Dora for the bicycle Festival and we found this restaurant looking for pizza. I was disappointed that they didn't have pizza. However, Rick the waiter suggested the special of the day Cannelloni fruto di Mari, OMG!!! That was heaven. The cannelloni were delicious fresh, cooked to perfection!!! Chef and owner Gianni Liverotti came to greet us and I think that was super nice of him. I will definitely will make this restaurant priority when I come back next year.
