Nice little cafe on post street. There was a smoothie that was in previous post but they told me they don't make that, so I went with a fruit smoothie. The base of it is orange juice, banana & yogurt and then you add any other fruit on top of that for additional $1 I believe. PB Java Mocha Smoothie is what I ordered. I enjoyed it since it had a strong smooth PB taste. I couldn't taste too much of the Java. This is the most expensive drink here. $10 but it is large. The ambiance is cute because this is a small hole in the road. They sell food. Coffee and teas and cold drinks. One lady working and my drink took the longest time to make because it's complex. Cafe Encore has tasty smoothies and I would come back to try other items on their menu. My group all got smoothies consisting of PB Java mocha smoothie, fruit smoothie and a raspberry smoothie add peanut butter. The service was good, not the fastest but the team did their best to get our smoothies to us quickly. I'd suggest switching to frozen fruit for smoothies vs fresh fruit and using ice. Cafe Encore is a place in which I spent less than 25 minutes. It's a tiny cafe with a menu that seems designed for eat-&-run or take-away. If I'd had even 30 minutes to spare I'd not have chosen Cafe Encore. At the counter, I quickly ordered a BLTA Sandwich ($16) with a bit of disappointment: all sandwiches here are served on your choice of long rolls, not slices of bread as I'd prefer. The made-to-order sandwich did its job though. The roll was lightly toasted, the ingredients were fresh, and it featured lots of avocado. A chocolate-dipped cookie was equally satisfying. This cafe, I understand, is very near the starting and ending point for a popular tour bus line which seems very apt. I can well imagine a tourist popping in to pick-up a lunch to keep them satisfied during their visit to Muir Woods. That's not exactly how I wound up here but that seems the only reason I might return. That, or the same reason that brought me here on this early evening. From what I sampled, Cafe Encore offers food that easily satisfies in a 4-star way but I'd have a difficult time telling anyone with more than 30 minutes that this should be their go-to destination. read more

I came into here because I had some time to kill and wanted a pastry. The place is very small but cute. I liked the jazz music playing and they had some beautiful desserts on display. The women behind the counter weren't particularly warm or welcoming, but they weren't rude either. As others have said, this place mainly seems to cater to the grab and go audience. Stopped by for coffee after seeing the wonderful M Butterfly at the SF Playhouse on the same block. My friend ordered an Americano & I had a wonderfully foamy latte - both were very good! I had asked about the chai latte & the friendly woman at the counter showed me the chai base they use (they don't make their own chai) and I saw that it's presweetened with a fair amount of sugar so I opted for the latte which I loved. We also ended up ordering and splitting the mozzo- veggie sandwich which was absolutely delicious!! Highly recommend! First, it's a big sandwich so I'm glad we split it. I'm not a big bread person but this bread was awesome - tasted very fresh & the sandwich was lightly toasted to a perfect crunch on the outside without drying it out too much and the mozzarella was melted just enough. I am not sure exactly was in the filling other than the mozzarella but it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had! Again, I'm not a big bread person so this saying a lot! My friend said she was eating it slowly to savor every bite. Are you tempted to order this yet?! Please do!! Got the hazelnut latte, and I didn't taste any hazelnut nor coffee taste at all. Halfway through my coffee, I decided to take a peek, and the color of the coffee was really light as opposed to the natural tan color of coffee. A bit hard to tell from the photo. This is a very cute cafe near Union Square (and a very popular SF dental building) that I've been to both pre-COVID times and during COVID times! They have yummy sandwiches, baked goods, and coffee drinks in a very cute, cozy, intimate atmosphere. There's a little outdoor seating as well if you're into that. There's free wifi if you want to do work there. I've had a few of their baked goods on multiple occasions as well as their White ghirardelli double mocha. The service at this coffee shop was horrible, but only for me - the lone Black woman in the restaurant this morning around 8am. When I walked in, I said good morning to both women behind the counter and no one greeted me. I shrugged it off because one was chatting away with two customers and the other lady seemed to be in a bad mood. After ordering and paying I realized that the woman in the bad mood still hadn't said a word to me, so I really started paying attention. Both women (minority women at that) greeted and chatted with everyone in the space but me. They didn't even open their mouths to say here's your order. I had to ask - is this my food. Sweet, cozy little spot on Post. They only have 2 people working behind the counter so be patient. The bagel sandwich options all looked delicious and several were options I hadn't seen before. I ordered salmon bagel with cream cheese, tomato and cucumber. Salmon was super fresh. The bagel was light and sort of fluffy in a way - not the heavy dense kind that sits in your stomach. Perfect for a dense sandwich like I had. Staff is very friendly. Desserts looked amazing. The cafe didn't come up on a Google search of cafes around the hotel, even though it's within a block or so of two others that were mentioned. I just happened upon it.
