So I've heard this one isn't as good as the downtown location. Personally, I respectfully disagree. Here's why. Being at the right place and the right time is half of what makes life amazing. And for layovers and early mornings there are few things that hit the spot like some hot beignets and a cafe au lait. As soon as we landed in MSY via SouthWest our eyes were so happy to see Café de Monde! We've been hearing so much about their beignets and it was on our eating list for our NOLA trip weekend. It's just right outside B-Gates and it was like a perfect welcome just for us! We enjoyed the warm beignets and a hot café au lait with NO lines! They have a very efficient system here! Later during the day we met up with our friends at the actual café in the French Qtr and it was long line and crowded, so I'm glad we already had our "snacks" at the airport. But in my honest opinion, I did enjoyed the beignets at Café Beignet a tiny bit more, I felt it was more fluffy and less dense than Café du Monde. I know it sounds strange because this cafe is located in an airport but this is where I had the best beignets on my entire New Orleans trip! I learned from a tour guide that the popular Jackson Square Cafe Du Monde has been under new ownership for the past four years, so their beignets are pre made and not good. This Cafe Du Monde, however, has beignets that are a million times better. They were fluffy, light, hot, and amazing. It's a great way to end your New Orleans trip on a high note! It's conveniently located right next to the food court in Concourse B at MSY airport for seating options. There was a line when I got there but it's faster than the large crowd at the French Quarter location. I ordered a small hot cafe au lait and an order of three beignets. The cafe au lait was perfect sipping temperature paired with the freshly made beignets, which were not greasy and were not too smothered with powdered sugar per my preference. I'm deducting a star because it was more doughy without a crispy outer layer compared to what I've had at The Vintage on Magazine St. The cafe au lait is delicious with no need for additional sweetener. read more

I loved getting to see the beignet kitchen through the glass wall. The decor is very cute and relatively clean. There is a standing-room only area to enjoy your beignets. Lines do get long, as everyone is trying to get their last beignet before leaving, but it's worth waiting a few minutes for to get that last taste of sugary goodness. read more

We had a fair share of beignets in our visit to New Orleans; we tried other beignets places while in city however missed Cafe du Monde. When we saw the one in airport, we had to give it a try. I could say now tried three different places, this comes at the last of my list. The beignets had oil smell and flavor which is an indicator that they reuse their frying oil. The fluffiness otherwise was right. They put all the beignets in a bag and dump powdered sugar on top. The ones in the bottom dont get covered; so you better shake the bag to distribute the sugar. The service is quick, they had already some premade and gave me the bag. It was still warm. The cafe is located right by the main check in point.
