Say beignet 10X fast with a French accent and you may begin to understand how awesomely delicious (and hard to pronounce quickly) these pastries are. Cafe Du Monde is that place that makes them best. - Friendly service - Small restaurant, not "famous" cafe location - Automatic door for outside seating - Leave tray at table when finished, no trash cans - Beignets are delicious and mix is available - OJ is normal, not Florida oranges? Beignets are these fantastic fried fritters (sometimes filled with fruit) served as a square piece of dough and covered with powdered sugar. Three is a lucky number of mine and they only come in servings of three so you know it's worthwhile. I stopped by with some friends for a snack and OJ after hearing so much about these little treats and were not let down. When we walked in we were immediately confused by an opening door that lead to the outside seating. I was convinced it was a sign to sit outside while a friend suggested a gust of wind that magically formed from the fantastic magic used to create the beignets must have opened it. Our more reasonable friend noticed the "automatic door" sign and we moved over to the register to avoid looking more like tourists. We sat down with our order and chomped away. It was around $17 for three OJ's and two orders (6 total pieces) of beignets. Be careful when eating these because if you happen to laugh mid-bite you could like like you found your way inbetween a Bobby & Whitney fight. Yes, powder all over your clothes, face, hands and table. I highly recommend eating a beignet at Cafe Du Monde (pronounced like the English word 'moaned') at the location near the French Quarter as it is larger and has more variety in the food category. It's been around since 1862 and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. read more

So, this is the place for Beignets... We stopped here on the last day of a road trip - the frozen drinks were delicious but strong and the beignets were warm and tasty. This location is an embarrassment to the Cafe Du Monde name. Employees are not friendly, helpful, or welcoming. We got beignets and a coffee to go since they were closing (hours on Yelp are not correct. They close at 3pm). Half the the beignets were dense and flavorless, the other half were flat as a tortilla and flavorless. The coffee was good. Unfortunately, a transaction that took less than 5 minutes left a horrible first-impression & I would not recommend this location. read more

When passing through Louisiana on I-12, we decided to stop and get some beignets at Cafe Du Monde. It has been a few years since we had them in New Orleans. If you do not know what a beignet is, the only way I know how to describe a beignet is to say that it is a square, puffy, funnel cake complete with powdered sugar. It is not something I would eat regularly and only did so this time because it has been many years since I have had one. On the other had, we really like the coffee at Cafe Du Monde and would probably stop here more often for just that if we lived close by. They also sell their coffee if you wish to take some home. They also sell a DIY beignet mix if you wish to tackle this pastry in your own kitchen. We bought some coffee and left the mix behind. All in all, if it were up to me, I'd rarely come here. My wife on the other hand, likes beignets, so I am thankful we don't live closer. If you found this review to be useful, funny, or cool, please let me know below. Thanks for reading. read more

I wanted coffee ( not Starbucks coffee ) I ordered Jumbo Continental (5.75) and Med Continental ( 2.71 ) Oh yes, I gasped at coffee price. Oh it was good coffee beans. I didn't mind it at all ! Strong robust french roast had that tarty, citric taste. If you want something milder, ask. We also, ordered one plate of beignets ( 3 pieces in one plate ) These little old fashioned donuts were so good. Perfect paring. Glad I didn't go down to small, cramp Starbucks with no-so exciting offerings in desserts. One word of caution : make sure you check out seats before you sit down: white powder. read more

Ok, who doesn't love hot beignets? I was so glad to see this Cafe Du Monde on the North Shore while visiting family recently. An order of beignets and a cafe au lait later, and I'm covered in powdered sugar and wishing I'd bought more. I love the drive through, and the quick service. The original will always hold a dear place in my heart (those early morning stumblings up from my French Quarter hotel after a night of partying....those were the days). However, it's nice to know I can get my beignet fix while north of town. read more

It's Café du Monde! No, it's not THE Café du Monde: No place can truly replicate the magic of the French Market original. But those beignets and that café au lait are the genuine article, there's no mistaking it. A beignet from the Café du Monde is such a wonder to behold ― simultaneously light and dense, with that golden crust enveloping the caverns of moist, chewy dough within. It's a paean to the God-given miracle of gluten, the beignet is. And although it is covered in powdered sugar, it really isn't as sweet as it appears. The milky, rich café au lait is the perfect drink to wash them down. The décor in the Covington branch is an ersatz attempt to recreate the ambience of the French Market original; the fact that the place was empty except for my group makes it feel nothing like the original, no matter how authentic the tables and chairs may be. Then again, not having to fight the crowds is kind of refreshing, too. The staff is friendly, and the place even has a drive-through window. Drive-through beignets? What a wonderful world this is! read more

Very underwhelming. I guess the whole thing with cafe du monde is more a frame of mind and more about the ambiance of the French Quarter. The beignets are good. But that's really it. When something like this becomes a chain. The spirit of it is lost in the suburbs. It's great somebody is making boatloads of money marketing cafe du monde products. But the rest of us lose as they sacrifice this cultural icon at the altar of capitalism. read more

Title: A Pristine and Pleasant Experience at Cafe du Monde Covington Nestled comfortably away from the bustling streets of New Orleans, Cafe du Monde in Covington, Louisiana, offers a serene retreat for beignet enthusiasts. This location not only mirrors the esteemed quality of its famous counterpart but does so in a setting that boasts pristine cleanliness and a hospitable ambiance. As soon as you step inside, you're welcomed by a spotlessly clean dining area and smiles from friendly staff who are ready to serve. The service here is swift and courteous, making you feel right at home. Unlike its New Orleans sibling, this cafe accepts credit cards, adding a layer of convenience to your dining experience. Now, let's talk about the beignets. Served hot and fresh, each piece is a fluffy pillow of perfection, generously buried under a mountain of powdered sugar that could easily make Tony Montana envious. It's not just a treat; it's a decadent experience that echoes the joy of the first winter snow--pure, white, and inviting. Contrast this with the often gritty reality of the New Orleans location--where you might find yourself dodging pigeons and loiterers, and pinching your nose from the less savory smells of the city. There, you endure long lines and a cash-only policy, which can detract from the joy of your sugary indulgence. If you're longing for the legendary Cafe du Monde beignets but could do without the urban chaos, the Covington location is your ideal destination. Here, the only lines you'll contend with are the traces of powdered sugar left on your plate, and the only reminder of pigeons will be the feather-light texture of your perfect beignets. Forget the French Quarter's frenzy, and let Cafe du Monde in Covington treat you to a five-star experience. read more

Met a nice man who ended up buying me a refill. Yes, that's right. No free refills here or no half price refills like some places. It's fine though. Had a pleasant experience there. Definitely go. How much would that refill have been? $3.78. Cents

I tried the Mandeville location the other night and I wish it could've been better. The service was lacking and slow. I must say though that they made the beignets fresh to order and they were hot. It is so cute, the staff are helpful and friendly, and most importantly the coffee is amazing. I decided to get a mid day pick me up and checked this place out around noon. I may have to come back just so I can get it again. They also have a selection of gluten free baked goods-Celiac friendly! There is plenty of seating, a small outdoor area in the front, and a drive thru window! As I was exiting, I saw a little lake area in the back with women tables and chairs too. I highly recommend stopping here for some coffee if you are in the neighborhood!

Kona Coffee

Tire of the chain coffee shops you normally visit? Give Kona a try…read more Kona is a small coffee shop located in Old Mandeville. It is attached to The Beach House and I am pretty sure it used to be a bar or at east part of the bar at the BH. Now it is a full on coffee shop. The Good The coffee here is very good. The iced coffee is bold yet smooth with very little bitterness. if you're a fan of coffee the way god intended (black with nothing), you will be happy with their version. If I had to guess I would say that it's cold brewed. There is a decent selection of food items. On my most recent visit I had a croissant sandwich. It was pre-made and microwaved to warm it up, but it was tasty. My daughter had a chocolate muffin which she devoured with the quickness. The "Just OK" This is a small and narrow space with low ceilings. Each time I have been here it seemed as if all, or almost all, of the tables were taken up by folks who weren't leaving anytime soon. I am a big fan of working at a coffee shop, but if you've got whining kids, it is nice to have a place to sit, eat, and then roll out. There is a small parking lot next to the shop. I have never seen it when it wasn't full. There is ample street parking, but the curbs are low and not friendly to low vehicles. The service is hit or miss. My most recent visit was fine, but several others have been downright odd. One time the barista didn't know how to make the sandwich I ordered. I am pretty sure it just gets unwrapped and put in the microwave. Will I be back? I think so. It is a nice alternative to the chains. I just wish I had more tie during the week to stop in.

I'll be the first to say this place has issues. I've been coming here for most of my life though,…read moreso I'm pretty loyal nonetheless. If you can get past the completely inconsistent food prep and service, you'll find yourself enjoying a real gem. Some of my favorite memories are hanging out with friends here during highschool. The interior has always been cozy and dim compared to the loud beach style exterior. I'm not mad that the workers chill out at the tables and take their time getting up to come serve you. I appreciate places that let their workers sit down and act like humans. The workers there don't always know what's on the menu. But I do! Order a steak croissant and a peach coffee smoothie. It's been a while since I ordered the steak croissant, but they usually will go to the other kitchen to grab steak for me. The peach coffee smoothie was definitely something that can be inputted in the computer by your server at least a couple months ago. It's ice cream, cold brew, peach puree or fresh peaches, a bit of oats, and whipped cream. If this sounds crazy to you, don't be alarmed; it's heaven on earth!

The baristas were sooooo sweet, friendly, and informative. The ambiance was also spacious, with high ceilings, and plenty of room to move around without feeling crowded. If you're in Hammond, I'd definitely recommend stopping by.

Nice and smooth, without the slightly harsh after taste you get from so many other coffees around. It's amazing! The service is far above average! Always friendly and extremely helpful. You don't feel rushed to make a decision and they always help you out with suggestions if needed. It feels like... You're at a friend's house. The volume is usually low on background music & customers talking, which adds to the mellow feel. Honestly, I can't find one thing wrong with this place. There's even a bagel menu, full of choices of your hungry. Great place to hang and work, read, chat, or just chill. I'd highly recommend it! Love this little place! Very eclectic and cool. The Staff is friendly and helpful. The crepes look delish (Although I didn't try one this time), and the coffee was amazing! Freshly made to order and served in cute sky blue cups. WiFi avail and low music in the background. There is also a small courtyard in the back and a few tables out front as well if you prefer to sit and enjoy the great outdoors. Lots of choices for coffee, teas, and yes Crepes (Which I'll be trying next time!!) I'll certainly be back! I'd recommend this little spot to all.
