I tried the Mandeville location the other night and I wish it could've been better. The service was lacking and slow. I must say though that they made the beignets fresh to order and they were hot. Located directly off the interstate (so clutch), this stop made our trip back to Houston so much sweeter. Honest take: The beignet quality is on par, if not better, than the NOLA locations as there's much less traffic and fresher grease, maybe???! I'm not sure. But, there's something to it. Way cool! I can get beignets without going to the Quarter. It has been 27 years since Ive been to the Quarter or Metairie location so I might be mistaken here but the experience there is they shake your beignets in a paper bag to coat them with the sugar while wearing the long aprons (probably not anymore). They have decorated this location in trying to replicate the experience but nothing beats sitting out on the patio in the Quarter and people watching all the tourists while you chow down on hot beignets. I ordered the Beignets (3 to an order) and a Chocolate Milk. Good old Borden milk! Can't get that back home. The beignets were perfect, just like I remembered them. GPS routes you onto I12 around New Orleans proper if you're driving cross country. We were fortunate enough to stop for a meal on our trip and I was talking to an employee about Cafe Du Monde, she told me about this gem located about ten minutes away. Wow! The place is located in a shopping complex, but it's decorated very much like downtown. The exterior design is also very reminiscent of the French Quarter. The coffee and beignets were delicious. This is a great spot to try the iconic beignets and chicory coffee without the lines! I was very grateful for the decaf option during our afternoon pit stop and thought the coffee was very tasty. We all know the famous Cafe Du Monde Beignets from the good ole downtown New Orleans. While this place can't take the place of the original location...it comes pretty darn close or even better than the original location. Don't get me wrong...you can't replace the visit to the original location but who wants to go all the way downtown during covid season? Upon enter...masks are required. The staff makes sure that everyone who enters has a mask on. Social distancing is enforced! About four tables are available for seating. Place was clean and it looks like they mop after every customers that dines in. We ordered two orders of beignets. It was made to order! That's the best kinds! I've been to places where they don't make it to order rather it's been sitting there a while! This place makes it to order! It was piping hot out the fryer! The chef sprinkles a layer of snowy powdered sugar on these piping hot French donuts! It was light a fluffy as I remembered first having it when downtown! I also ordered a frozen cafe au lait. This is a convenient location to bring kids when you need a "nightcap" BUT our beignets were not properly mixed before being fried so both my order and my niece's had a layer of raw flour in the center. I should have returned it but I was tired and still needed to drive back across the bridge. I took a sip and thought "that tasted weird" maybe it's the water. The Mandeville location of Cafe du Monde is located on Hwy 22, right off of US 190. This location has a dive thru, an outside, and an inside seating area. Hot beignets and good coffee are what Cafe du Monde is known for. This location doesn't disappoint. We ordered four orders (three to an order), two milks and a regular black coffee. The total was 15 dollars. I don't remember it being this pricey, but it was good. It had been some time since I enjoyed a fresh cup of chicory and beignets. The coffee was excellent and the beignets were just as I remembered. This location does not have the old style charm of the original location, nor is it open 24 hours, but it is close to my home. If it has been a while since you've been to Cafe du Monde, you should give this location a try. One word of caution. The drive thru can get extremely crowded. If you are going in to eat, I suggest you enter from the side near Monster Po-boys. It will be easier to get in and out. read more

They are very thick and covered in powder sugar. They do have the doughy texture inside but if you eat them hot, they kind of just melt in your mouth. One order is shareable, one order comes with 3. I also ordered a Cafe Au Lait (cafe latte) it's very creamy, does contain a lot of half and half, but not too much to over power the roast flavor. On a recent road trip from Florida to California, I knew we needed to get Cafe Du Monde beignets in New Orleans. We discovered we could stay on course using I-12 and only a small detour to get this sugary doughy confection. Yes! I stopped here on my way out from New Orleans and I had beignets from the original location the day before. I tried the beignets here and they tasted the same as the original location. They had a good indoor seating area with a small outdoor area as well. The parking here was easy and they also had a drive-thru. This time however we were camping at Fountainbleau State Park; so we were excited to find they had a stand near us. Due to Covid the inside was not open so we had to go thru the drive-thru. My wife had never had a Beignet. The window lady and the cook really talked the Beignets up good. She couldn't wait to get a bite. She loved them. Now she's looking for a recipe.
