I'll be the first to say this place has issues. I've been coming here for most of my life though,…read moreso I'm pretty loyal nonetheless. If you can get past the completely inconsistent food prep and service, you'll find yourself enjoying a real gem. Some of my favorite memories are hanging out with friends here during highschool. The interior has always been cozy and dim compared to the loud beach style exterior. I'm not mad that the workers chill out at the tables and take their time getting up to come serve you. I appreciate places that let their workers sit down and act like humans. The workers there don't always know what's on the menu. But I do! Order a steak croissant and a peach coffee smoothie. It's been a while since I ordered the steak croissant, but they usually will go to the other kitchen to grab steak for me. The peach coffee smoothie was definitely something that can be inputted in the computer by your server at least a couple months ago. It's ice cream, cold brew, peach puree or fresh peaches, a bit of oats, and whipped cream. If this sounds crazy to you, don't be alarmed; it's heaven on earth!

Tire of the chain coffee shops you normally visit? Give Kona a try…read more Kona is a small coffee shop located in Old Mandeville. It is attached to The Beach House and I am pretty sure it used to be a bar or at east part of the bar at the BH. Now it is a full on coffee shop. The Good The coffee here is very good. The iced coffee is bold yet smooth with very little bitterness. if you're a fan of coffee the way god intended (black with nothing), you will be happy with their version. If I had to guess I would say that it's cold brewed. There is a decent selection of food items. On my most recent visit I had a croissant sandwich. It was pre-made and microwaved to warm it up, but it was tasty. My daughter had a chocolate muffin which she devoured with the quickness. The "Just OK" This is a small and narrow space with low ceilings. Each time I have been here it seemed as if all, or almost all, of the tables were taken up by folks who weren't leaving anytime soon. I am a big fan of working at a coffee shop, but if you've got whining kids, it is nice to have a place to sit, eat, and then roll out. There is a small parking lot next to the shop. I have never seen it when it wasn't full. There is ample street parking, but the curbs are low and not friendly to low vehicles. The service is hit or miss. My most recent visit was fine, but several others have been downright odd. One time the barista didn't know how to make the sandwich I ordered. I am pretty sure it just gets unwrapped and put in the microwave. Will I be back? I think so. It is a nice alternative to the chains. I just wish I had more tie during the week to stop in.

Wanting to try a coffee shop while in Hammond Louisiana I stopped by Luma Coffee Roasters…read more I ordered the two drink specials from Luma Turns Five! I had the Max's Cake and the Ruby's Cake (I swapped the matcha for espresso). I also tried the Chantilly Coldie, an avocado toast with a fried egg, and two jerky links. Out of everything I ordered, my favorites were definitely the Max's Cake and the avocado toast. Both were really good and tasty. I'd actually come back to try two other items I was saw on the menu. The baristas were sooooo sweet, friendly, and informative. The ambiance was also spacious, with high ceilings, and plenty of room to move around without feeling crowded. If you're in Hammond, I'd definitely recommend stopping by.

I won't be coming back, I had never been here before and i only have had a tea once before so I wanted to match the flavor to what I knew I liked, and she seemed to have an issue with me asking her questions about the flavors. Me and my friend were the only people in there so I don't understand the attitude. My friend was also asking about sugars and carbs in the drink, and the girl wasn't even verbally responding she was just shaking her head, my friend is a type 1 diabetic and can't have things high in sugar or carbs.
