Best donut shop in Toledo. Fresh, tasty, never had a bad donut there to date, and we've been coming here for over eleven years. The owners are super sweet and always friendly. You can smell their donuts across the street. Their coffee is hit or miss, but it never stops us from going there. If i'm not mistaken, their donuts sell for $5.99 a dozen between 6-9pm, regularly $8.99/dozen (other than specialty ones). Speaking of which, their apple fritters and Cronuts are ridiculously addictive. Beats any "gourmet" donut in town. Cafe Donuts is the mecca of the Toledo donut scene; it should be immortalized and people should take a pilgrimage from all over to taste what Cafe Donuts has to offer. I cannot understand why you would buy a very successful business with loyal customers and then change things. Are you trying to go out of business? We got a jelly donut with barely any filling. I bought my first dozen from here to take to family in Columbus and we were all VERY impressed I chose a variety and they were all excellent minus the sour cream variety ( which was good but had a strong coconut flavor). Ok, I'm really trying to give the new owners a chance. I've went back multiple times hoping and wishing the donuts would get better. Unfortunately, the donuts have declined. The appearance, taste, and freshness are no longer what they used to be. This once was our favorite donut joint and loved getting the half off dozen. Sadly, The dozen is no longer half off. At first I could handle the up charge but not when the quality is going down the drain. For gods sakes the jelly sticks are supposed to be filled, not covered in the jelly. Cafe Donuts used to be so good when it was run by the original owners. I was so excited to move closer to the business and get donuts all the time. However, the new owners took over. They increased all of the prices of the donuts, even more so on some of them such as the fritters, etc. They attempt to mimic the original recipes of the donuts from the original owners, but they are much drier and less flavorful. I have given them multiple chances, but will not be going back again. read more

This is my kids favorite place for a treat! The owner and staff are super friendly, the donuts are to die for! I have tried other area places, and if you have donuts the next day they are stale, but not here....great for a couple days....but they only last if I buy a couple dozen at once! My brother and I drove to Toledo yesterday to visit his daughter, a student at the University of Toledo. She said she wanted to try Cafe Donuts. I love a good chocolate covered cream stick but have been dissatisfied with the donuts in the Youngstown to Columbus area as of late. She purchased four cream sticks. I wasn't even going to try one unless she rated it a ten. She rated it a ten and I must say it is now my favorite donut in all the land--well at least in the places I have tried in Ohio. They are a little crispy on the outside, very moist in the inside with a good amount of cream and chocolate frosting. My only regret is that Cafe Donuts is three hours away from my house. read more
