Strawberry Elegant Cake from Haas Bakery! Happy Birthday to me!
    Kellie P.

We stop in at Haas more than we should; my husband loves their small cakes and donuts. I always admire the cakes in the case, especially the pink swirly one...I think it's called the Strawberry Elegant Cake. Well, I finally ordered myself one for my birthday! And it was beautiful and delicious. The staff is always friendly and helpful and Haas Bakery has the best sour cream glazed donuts I've ever had.

My favorite bakery in Toledo. This is how fresh baked items are supposed to taste. From my favorite, apple fritters to creme filled eclairs - everything is perfectly crafted and delicious. The pricing is significantly better than the national brands and the quality is as well.

Can't have a fall or winter holiday without their pumpkin pies! We usually buy at least 4. Great donuts too! I wish I lived closer.

Their donuts are the best I've had. The frosted maple and coconut are my favorites. Super soft and light. I can't wait to try their pie.

I figured 5am open time and closed almost 1/2 the week - it has to be good to operate on those kind of hours. 15 min from home and opens early enough I can grab them and head back north to work. Logistically it all worked out. Place wasn't busy. I got there at 6am. A few older men sitting at a table, drinking coffee and telling tales. Reminded me of my youth and going with my Uncle to hang out with the old men at McDonald's. It was nostalgic. One lady working. Very friendly and helpful. Pretty decent donut selection. I ordered two on the side for my husband and I to share. Cinnamon roll with chocolate icing and nuts. That was pretty good. Definitely tasted soft and fresh. I ordered an apple fritter - one of my Dad's faves - and it was good. Way different than Tim Hortons! Tasted fried and was dense but still soft. Had plenty of apple. So good. I'm not big on donuts but I would definitely come back for occasions like today.

I would agree with some of the other reviews, Don's is definitely a throwback in time with old-school theme & decor creating a nostalgic experience. In my opinion, other donut shops in the Toledo area have better tasting products.

Great place to hang out w friends, by yourself and people watch, business meeting, do you school work, or simply have a cup of Joe. Things to do along I-75 N/S to and from the Detroit area (1 of 2)…read more I had to spend a few days in the Detroit area and I-75, featured in black and white on Eminem's excellent Super Bowl commercial, is the route on which I'd be driving. I have become increasingly tired of Starbucks, but less so of other chain coffeehouses. That said, I always seek out the independent coffeehouses. Mostly, I was sold on the name (Rustbelt) of this coffeehouse in Downtown Toledo, just a few blocks from the small cluster of downtown mid-rises. Inside, it has the open floor plan with exposed ceilings up above, which works very well here and fits the industrial Rust Belt mood. The seating options were to my liking: big butcher block type tables meant to be shared, smaller tables, and upholstered seating with coffee tables. I wish I could have stayed at Rustbelt longer. It was a warm and humid summer day and I had an iced tea and a pastry. The items were tasty. The pricing was fair and the service was unremarkable, but did lean toward being good natured. Parking is available right in front along the street, should you want to keep an eye on your car. That said, I couldn't get a read on the location ... it seemed that there were other eateries and bars nearby, so maybe that meant it was okay. Also, I couldn't figure out where the customer base came from. Usually, bohemian coffeehouses have bohemian enclaves nearby where the bohemian people live. I didn't see any, or maybe I didn't look long enough. I couldn't imagine them being suburbanites. Lastly, I believe I've always seen Rust Belt spelled as two words. If they want to stylize this and go with one word, that's their prerogative. So, what you have here at Rustbelt Coffee are good tea/coffee with pastries to choose from, fair prices, decent service, and a spacious open interior plan where the climate control system was working very well. That sounds like 4 stars to me.
