Stopped in late on a Saturday morning between 10:30 and 11. On my way to Strachn Bakery, I passed a sports complex, and it looked as if all the baseball diamonds were in action. My first thought was going to Strachn this late was probably not a good idea. When I pulled into the parking lot, there were several cars parked in front of the bakery, and a few more pulled in as I parked my vehicle and walked towards the door. Much to my surprise, there was still many selections displayed. I tried a couple new items - a cherry filled jelly donut and strawberry cinnamon roll. Both were quite good. The strawberry cinnamon roll was just a faint taste of strawberry as I was hoping for more. I was greeted by those behind the counter as I entered the bakery. Service was friendly and helpful. Small donut shop that is make a purchase and go = no tables inside or out. This bakery has been around for quite some time, and I think it has a lot to do with pricing and good tasting products. I was in the market for a new bakery after I was talked to rudely by a worker at Bakery Unlimited for the millionth time. I called here and they were more than happy to take my order ahead of time! I ordered a variety of paczki (Apricot, lemon, cherry, and apple), they were all great, they even labeled them for me in the box so we could tell them apart! While I was in the bakery one of the donuts ( a twist) looked so good I added it to my order and it was delicious. The woman working was nice and I will definitely be back. We made it in this morning early enough to purchase one of their "GIANT" Eclairs. Pate Choix is crispy just the way you want for Eclairs or cream puffs. I always like just the ones with custard or vanilla bean cream. I don't believe in putting whipped creme in a eclair, that's fine for cream puffs but NOT Eclairs. Some of the larger ones are easily 12" long with a 6" diameter. This one, by choice, is half the length but same in diameter. It's filled from one end to the other with a perfect vanilla bean custard and topped with a rich dark chocolate spreadable ganache, they make everything themselves. I wholly recommend this place for ALL your bakery Needs; whether for birthdays, tea parties, Ostera/ Easter, St Patrick's day, Valentine's, Samhain/Halloween , Yule , etc..... This is what I imagine when I think of a classic old school bakery. They have a wide variety of items and a friendly and attentive staff to go with it. I went around 12:30 on a Monday for donuts and was surprised by the selection they still had. Donuts were very tasty, just wish they had more glaze on the ones with them. After trying to order a few pies from Schmuckers several days before Thanksgiving and being told I was too late to order any, my son suggested I call Strachn. I did and Strachn bakery was super nice and more than happy to take my order. The cakes were delicious (an apple pie, and lime meringue). I will be returning to get all of my pies and cakes from them. Strachs is a small family run business that truly appreciates customers and treats them with alot of caring and appreciation. Stopped by here to pick up the hubs some doughnuts the other day. They pricing is about inline with most other bakery's at $9.99 a dozen. I picked up a few apple fritters, strawberry & chocolate filled....The doughnuts were purchased around 4pm on a Thursday and were amazingly fresh from that morning...they are large in size and very flavorful!
