This place was dedicated to Princess Diana who was seen coming out of the palace with her children and who visited it. There are a lot of photos of her all over the walls. The food is Mediterranean. I had lamb kabobs that came with salad, pita and hummus. The mix of flavors was nice. The lamb was mildly spicy and paired well with the salad. The restaurants indoor seating is old but ok. There is outside seating also. Service was ok but hard to get the check. read more

I went in today to do some work and was instantly greeted by a girl that works there. She asked me if I needed anything, she handed me a menu, and as she stood there waiting for me to decide, I just chose to get an apple juice. As time went on, I felt like the older woman working in the cafe was eyeing me each time she walked by my table. I was there for probably 2 hours, didn't talk to anyone, had my head down working. Not causing a disturbance at all. When I got up to leave, I walked to the counter and asked her if I could pay for the juice. She said do you have pounds? I said no I don't she said "Hmm ok 6 pounds." Like she had to think about what SHE wanted to charge me, not what it actually should be. I said ok... I tapped to pay but it didn't seem right. 6 pounds for any type of beverage is unusual (besides alcoholic) for as long as i've been here. I walked back to the counter and looked at the menu, pretending I wanted to order food, and it said £3. She was standing on the other side of the counter watching me look at the menu because she knew she overcharged me on purpose. I looked at her across the counter, and she didn't make any eye contact with me, knowing I knew she overcharged of me. I'm not sure why she overcharged me when I was barely a customer. Was it because I paid with my card? Is it because I didn't get anything else but the juice and sat there and used their wifi (it says FREE WIFI in their window)? Maybe because I'm an American? I'm not sure, but I won't be going back. It was a clean cafe, and lots of people were coming in to eat inside and to carry out, so I'm sure the food is a local favorite. Super unfortunate experience as I am new to the neighborhood and looking to find new places to do work or eat. read more

This restaurant is a disservice to the memory of the late Princess Diana! Instead of focusing on an atmosphere that allows customers to pay tribute to the Princess, all the owners care about is making money by charging 30 pounds to sit out front and smoke hookah. My mother and I have been coming here for years; every time we visit London we frequent this restaurant multiple times. This was our first visit back since the pandemic and it was such a huge disappointment. The restaurant had completely changed. We did not feel welcomed as American tourists. We did not want to smoke hookah and were punished by not being allowed to sit outside to eat our meal. We were forced to sit inside on nasty, peeling, disgusting booths/chairs. The owners need to take down their pictures of Princess Diana. It is obvious that they are using her name to gain business. Don't fall for the trap! read more

Interestingly enough I was here on a day where the owner, his brother and his associate were sitting outside. I was on crutches and was sitting next to them. They were SO nice, even bought me and my sister a cocoa and let us use their cell phone. Also gave us some inside scoops on Diana when she used to come in on her way to picking will n harry from their school around the corner. Sits right in front of the other end of Notting Hill Gate and around the corner is the park where Hugh Grant jumps over the fence in "Notting Hill" and says the memorable "oopsy-daisy" line that cracks Julia Roberts character up! As for the food tho...um stay away from the Mayonaise, corn and chicken sandwich. Or should I say do you want some corn, chicken and bread with your mayo? totally artery clogging. read more

Great little place with great English comfort food. They have a serious Princess Diana fetish here apparently she used to frequent the restaurant. Had the Classic Cheese Burger which was great, family had fish and chips, eggs and toast. Good sized portions and a reasonable price. Cafe Diana has the worst customer service of any restaurant I went to in London. The waitstaff was incredibly inattentive and very rude. At the end, the waitress refused to let me pay for a 10.50 pound meal with a 20 pound note; she claimed that they didn't have the change, and that if I wanted to make change, I could go next door! Talk about terrible customer service. I found the wall-to-wall pictures of Princess Diana to be creepy, overdone, and somehow inauthentic. I only saw girls working there that were in their late teens or early 20s and didn't seem to be native English speakers. I couldn't help but think that they probably couldn't even remember when she died or who she was. I'm sure they were the owner's daughters or something. Anyways, whoever owns this place needs to work on training the waitresses on how to treat customers. read more

A few sidewalk tables outdoors, good for people watching, Hyde Park-access, and great meandering potential - if you happen to be entertaining anglophiles from North America who continue to be fascinated by the Princess of Wales (I've been known to), this is a great spot to hit pre- or post- Kensington Palace visit - the owners/staff are lovely smiley folk Cons: - the food itself is pretty average; the full English is standard, and the falafel is just ok - you pay for 'novelty factor'; in essence, Cafe Diana is the type of neighbourhood spot you find all around London...save for the Princess Diana draw. Yelp note: a neat place to go once or twice - or when visitors insist - but, given the vast range of options in the city of London, it's not liable to become your go-to. read more

Pretty weird. Not one I'd choose to frequent. Possible, because Diana, the Princess of Wales, as she became knowb, doesn't interest me that much. If she did, I'd eat in here every day. It's quite a normal, standard cafe. Not noteworthy, but for the total dominance of Diana and photos of her, and things about her, all over the walls. All over them. So they serve a decent menu of teas, coffees, cafe food. Continental breakfasts, toasted sandwiches. And then it gets silly - Diana's dishes, Diana salads. This place has delicious falafel sandwiches for a reasonable price, which is great when you're dealing with the nasty dollar-pound exchange rate. It is a little weird having a hundred pictures of Princess Diana stare down at you as you're eating that delicious falafel sandwich, but the great food, relatively large portions, and attentive service more than makes up for the creepy factor. This café is dedicated to Princess Diana, and it's sort of... weird seeing her picture on almost every available surface of the restaurant. There's something quite frightening about Cafe Diana. I stumbled in here last week to grab a quick coffee before a show at Notting Hill Arts Club - it was the only non-Starbucksy place open, and it wasn't until my friends and I had taken a seat and started to thaw that we noticed the two main walls were completely plastered with photos of Princess Diana. Diana dressed as a pilot, Diana in this posh frock and that posh frock...a hundred Princess eyes gazed down on us as we ordered from the friendly waiting staff. The weirdest pictures were the unposed, slightly surprised ones, those where she'd obviously been papped while out minding her own business. Why would you put those up in a place that tries to keep her memory alive? The coffee was pretty nice, and the menu looked interesting enough that I might return another time for a meal, if I can bear to be watched by so many Dianas all at once. read more

Absolutely love Cafe Diana, I'm a regular. If you fancy eating in a friendly, slightly quirky (lots of Princess Di pictures on the walls - hence the name) cafe, which happens to be in a superb location (Kensington Gardens on the opposite side of the road, and within a few minutes walking distance from Notting Hill Gate Underground Station (Central, District & Circle Lines), then I would highly recommend it. Ok, the decor is somewhat dated, but that just adds to the appeal of the place, it feels sort of homely. What's especially lovely is that the guy, Fawad, that runs the place always has a smile on his face, and remembers my name - great service :-) read more

I have been coming to this place for five years, and this is the best place on Notting Hill Gate to pop in for a quick lunch, brunch or breakfast. The fry up is solid, but the real find is the Chicken Kofte Kebab (Spiced minced chicken grilled on charcoal), which comes with hummous, salad & pita. Delicious. I loved the Cafe Diana! I had read about it in the 80's and 90's when Diana, Princess of Wales used to bring William and Harry in to buy some of their delicious desserts! I really enjoyed the Mediterraean food and the wonderful desserts. The menu was so beautiful (with pictures of Princess Diana) that I had to take one! As a tourist, whenever Im in London the first place I visit is Cafe Diana. I dont find it quirky at all. The establishment is a little small and tight to get around but the coffee is delicious and I find the staff very very friendly. I find all of the pictures entertaining. Especailly the ones of Diana visiting she use to go in there occasionally for her morning cup of joe. I love the place. read more

This is the perfect place to have a breakfast in Bayswater. I will highly recommend the hot chocolate it's awesome. There is nothing special in the menu, but the service is quick and friendly. There are many photos of Lady Diana on the walls which are really great ! read more
