Nizuc is an incredible resort that my man + I were super fortunate to enjoy for a full week. The only downside was that this particular restaurant - the only breakfast option at Nizuc - is only so-so for the price. It was around $32 USD for an omelette that was nothing special - 2 eggs, mushrooms, cheese, spinach... I'm no chef and I make better omelettes in my own kitchen. Or you could enjoy the breakfast buffet for almost $50/person.
It's not that the food at Cafe de la Playa is bad, it just doesn't stand out amidst all the other great dining at Nizuc, and it definitely was not worth the expense. All other restaurants at Nizuc are equally pricey, but the food is exceptional so you feel okay about it. However, this was the one place where we felt like Nizuc knows you're a captive audience (unless you leave the resort early in the morning) and they take advantage of that by price gouging a bit.
