This was a restaurant in Live aqua that was our go to place for breakfast. It had buffet breakfast with amazing food options, special shoutout to Marco at the smoothie counter that made the most fresh and yummiest smoothies/juices. My favourite was the carrot, beetroot, apple, ginger and orange juice- thats a must try. The dessert options were superb and the egg counter was perfect! For dinner they have Mexican shows on Thursdays which makes the night eventful. The staff is super friendly, and the ambiance is nice overall.

It was my first morning at the Live Aqua resort and I was famished. The list of restaurants showed this one as a viable breakfast option, so my wife and I headed downstairs in search of food. We followed a sign toward "restaurants" and ended up at an empty bar area, so we turned around. As luck would have it, we ran into some folks we knew (we were here with a group) and they knew where the restaurant was. We were so close, just had to keep walking past the empty bar area, then we found ourselves in the restaurant. It's a large, open setup with a generous buffet in the middle. There are all the breakfast items you would expect, and plenty that you may not expect as well. You can request omelets made to order, fresh fruit juice or even champagne. We ended up going here every morning and always enjoyed our meals. It opens at 7am, and is not too busy at that time. But as the morning progresses, the place fills up and gets a little crowded. If you prefer fewer people, be sure to arrive early. And, as with all the restaurants onsite, the food is included in your "all inclusive" rate, but don't forget to leave a few dollars on the table for the wait staff. I was appalled at how many people I saw leave nothing for their servers. These folks work hard to make the experience fantastic for us tourists, let's show our appreciation with a tip.

The food was pretty good. Buffet had a very large selection. Service was great! We weren't guests at this resort but were treated well.

I also had a cantaloupe and pineapple plate and the fruit was so perfectly ripe, it was almost hard to pickup with a fork! I really enjoyed they have a lending library and I got to pickup a book while there. In usual fashion, pool chairs were reserved as soon as the day starts which made it harder to find a prime seat. They also had a competition at the pool area that was entertaining to watch. Restrooms could have been better marked for directions as I wondered we around for a hot minute to find the ones labeled on the maps. Maybe it was just me? We arrived late and asked for bottled water, and were told to just drink the sink water... in Mexico. That alone set the tone. I also repeatedly emailed our concierge for assistance and received no response whatsoever. Our room smelled like mold, and the sheets were damp. Housekeeping replaced them, but the odor and overall condition never improved. Not what you expect at this level. Then it got worse. We had two rooms, one at this hotel and one at a neighboring hotel where a large group of our family was staying. That other hotel requires wristbands, which we had, so security here assumed we didn't belong, even though we had rooms at this property. At the pool, they approached us publicly and repeatedly questioned us, over and over, in front of everyone. No attempt to verify privately, no discretion, just standing over us and making a scene. It was humiliating. Then it happened again. While checking out, we crossed back onto this property to retrieve our luggage that they were holding. Security stopped us again and treated us like we were doing something wrong, only to confirm, once again, that we were legitimate guests. Two separate incidents. Same behavior. The level of aggression and lack of professionalism from security is completely out of control. This is not how paying guests should ever be treated. This wasn't just a misunderstanding, it was a failure in how guests are handled, and it happened more than once. We will never stay here again.

However, we found that for the price this restaurant does a very good job with the service, food, and entertainment. Prices are consistent with other hotel restaurants, especially for the buffet. However, considering the food quality and service it is within reason. The best value are some of dinner theme nights. We have gone to Mayan Night this year. Last year we went to the Seafood on the Beach night. However, I found that for Taco night the prices were too high. Since you can go an across the street at La Isla for more than half the price. Not only is the food fresh and tasty, the service is excellent. When I asked our main waiter what is Mayan food, he took me to the buffet and explained which foods are traditionally Mayan and how they were historically prepared. There were other foods that were more Mexican than Mayan and though delicious wasn't what I was looking to experience that night. As I wandered around the buffet area trying to determine what I was going to eat, more than 1 server asked if they could help me. I just couldn't decide since there were a lot of food options. For families with big appetites, the buffet nights are a deal. It's also an experience with the entertainment. I enjoyed both Mayan night and Seafood night because of them. The entertainment is consistent with those you find at other high end establishments that we have paid more than double the prices. Last year the fire show on the beach was fantastic. This year the Mayan performers were equally entertaining. We were seated very close to the entertainers which was a big plus. What Oceano is lacking is modern decor to compete with the new swanky restaurants that have been opening up in the hotel zone area. The vibe of the restaurant is hotel breakfast cafe, and not high end restaurant. Very small bar. However, with just a few updates and extending the patio to more an indoor outdoor dining with newer chairs, they maybe able to attract more customers.

The waitstaff are incredibly attentive and friendly, though definitely trying to upsell La Veranda's specialty drinks (charged at an extra cost to the card presented at check-in, though usually $5 or less). I think breakfast and lunch serve the same items, though dinner changes by the weekday. Some nights, the patio area has additional stalls that serve other dishes like tacos, paella, etc. Performers sing or dance nightly to accompany meals, usually matching the "theme" of the evening (ex. American, Italian, Asian). The quality and variety is phenomenal-- my photos barely capture the array of dishes available every day. I had to laugh at some of the options clearly pandering towards to average picky American eater (WHO GOES TO CANCUN FOR HOT DOGS AND PIZZA) My only gripe is that multiple beverages or soups are left out without lids... Dust or dirt could easily settle in and sink into the liquid :S And several dishes are left out without a sneeze guard... Who knows what happens then. NOTE: swimsuits aren't permitted in La Veranda-- clothing/coverups required to check in for any meal. You'll need to provide your room number each time.

There really was just nothing to highlight. It was more of just 'what can I dislike the most.' Everything was just average at best and the size of the buffet was just much smaller than I expected. Also, I was really excited to try their peanut butter & jelly 'flavor of the month' ice cream, but when I got it, we all agreed that it tasted most almondy than PB&J. (as 2 days later was a new month, I saw that that month they had changed the flavor of the month to almond honey so clearly I unknowingly just got an early preview of the next month's flavor). I've heard that on other times this place is an actual restaurant. I wish we had tried it in that format so we could try most made to order items as I would hope they'd be better. While the food was disappointing, the wait staff was absolutely fantastic. They were so helpful and just so joyous. They were constantly joking around with us, helped turn some of our coffees in to a fantastic alcoholic drink, and just being so pleasant to our kids. They were really the stars of the meal. If we were to find ourselves here again, we'd absolutely avoid it if it was their buffet but would also absolutely try it if it was the actual restaurant format. The setting is nice, the interiors are inviting and warm, and I just want to trust these other reviews of people have positively given.

Once we stepped onto the deck overlooking the lagoon, the whole experience elevated even further. The scenery was stunning, soft lights reflecting off the water, a gentle breeze, and live music drifting through the air like the perfect soundtrack to an already unforgettable night. Then came the food, each dish was its own little masterpiece. The bread service alone set the tone: warm, golden rolls with just the right touch off salt. The wedge salad followed. It was crisp, cold, and generously dressed, with smoky bacon and bright tomatoes adding all the right contrasts. The dry-aged steak was the star of the table, cooked perfectly with that deep, rich flavor only dry-aging can create. The roasted peppers and silky sauce on the side made every bite feel intentional. The octopus was another standout, tender, beautifully charred, and plated with a vibrant puree that balanced the dish with a touch of sweetness. One of the best plates we had. The table got more entrees since there were 8 of us but didn't get pictures. Sea brass was another favorite. Even the lobster soup arrived with flair: a velvety bowl paired with a seafood-topped toast that brought texture and richness together in one elegant bite. The beef tartare with fries was classic and fresh, refined without losing its fun. Dessert turned into a full performance. The liquid-nitrogen ice cream came with swirling clouds of cold vapor, dramatic and delicious. The birthday cake arrived crowned with berries and a sparkling candle that lit up the whole table. And just when we thought the night couldn't get any more whimsical, out came the towering blue cotton candy, playful, over-the-top, and impossible not to smile at. Harry's doesn't just serve dinner. We came to Harry's a couple years back when we visited Cancun and I am celiac and I had a lovely dinner with my partner. On this visit, we were seated at a beautiful table and we ordered drinks. Our waiter, a bald headed young man 30s, refused to check with the kitchen to see if they could accommodate me. I am celiac not vegan. I was told there was nothing I could eat except steak and he proceeded to show us the entire steak selection. Truthfully I was feeling slightly unwell from not eating the entire day. I felt like fish, he said I can give you dry fish no sauce on top. He suggested maybe we just do appetizers. We had a 8 pm dinner reservation, what the hell would I want to order appetizers and call it day? This waiter was chit chatting with his maitre'd and other wait staff and I felt terribly uncomfortable that i was told I couldn't eat anything from the men, we we all know was ridiculous and not true. We finished our drinks and asked for the check. I made a reservation for Porfirios next door bc I could see they had some gluten free options. Harry's used to be accommodating but no longer. We will not come to Harry's again for food. Not only this, the waiter was trying to once again embarrass us by advising us that we could walk to Porfirios, next door to the restaurant from the back patio. We got up and began walking towards the patio and suddenly I realized he was totally making a fool of us, why would we go from the back if we have to check in with the hostess stand in the front of the restaurant? We walked straight out of Harry's from front door. Never again. So disrespectful and such a rude experience. Not only this, Harry's canceled/ removed our open table reservation (even though we fulfilled it and paid for our drinks and still tipped generously), so I cannot even leave a review and send a private message to the restaurant. Pathetic customer service.

This is not a party resort. When we were there, there was a karaoke night and a DJ in one of their lounges, but it was never crowded and the events ended early or people just left early. The 1st room we stayed in was HORRIBLE! We couldn't sleep. There was a loud rumbling sound coming from the huge air conditioning units right outside balcony. Ear plugs did not help. We talked to 3 other people also complaining about the noise from their rooms also. We were so thankful to Eileen/Aileen at the front desk for moving us. She let us view 3 rooms that were available. We went from a partial ocean view room with a king bed on the 2nd floor to a garden view (actually just the alley with trees) with 2 queen beds on the 1st floor. There was no noise whatsoever! Yaaaay! The person booking excursions could be more friendly. He seemed uninterested and looked bored. Whenever we saw him speaking to other guests, he really looked bored or tired. ONE STAR for the spa. We arrived 15 minutes early for a couples massage. My husband was led to the men's side and I was taken to the women's side. The young lady leading the way, paused at the locker room but led me directly to the quiet room. I was fully dressed and had all my belongings with me. Everyone else was in robes. Why wasn't I given a locker to store my things and a robe to change into??? I was so upset and felt so out of place. When my husband met me in the quiet room he was as confused as I was as to why I was still fully dressed. We were led to the massage room and I asked AGAIN about changing into a robe and storing my things. One of the masseuses said I didn't need to. WTF? So I undressed and piled my clothes onto an ottoman. I could not relax. The music was too loud and inappropriate. Why are you playing music with someone singing loudly? When it was over, it took me a while to calm down. We paid for shit service?! We came back and spoke to Jessica at the desk. She was also confused and concerned about the whole lock and robe ordeal. She offered a discounted spa treatment the next day but we were leaving. I wouldn't have taken it anyway. Overall, the staff was AMAZING! Please recognize them! They worked really hard to make our stay enjoyable. Get to know the staff and tip them well. Thank you to Jose at Egos who made sure our hands always had a drink in them; Carlos at Varenna for the house special cocktails; Miguel who took care of us while we relaxed on the beachside cabana. He was so attentive, personable and funny. Alejandro at the poolside bar made us laugh, Israel at Azur for the honest feedback when we had questions about the dinner menu, and Cesar at Hidden Garden who helped us figure out what was what in the darkness of the dining area. One that note, why is it so dark at Hidden Garden during the dinner service? We had to use the flashlights on our phones to read the menu and see our food. Fernando at the Siete breakfast buffet was awesome! We watched him smoothly take care of so many tables. We never felt neglected despite all the tables and people he was tending to. Lulu (Lou Lou?) is AMAZING, FUNNY and ENTERTAINING! We were lost the 1st night we arrived. He stopped what he was doing to personally escorted us to Azur in the darkness, around all the pools. We ran into him several times during our stay. He always made sure we were ok and having a good time. His energy is unmatched! Thank you to Omar, from the Concierge desk. He welcomed us when we arrived and gave us so much information about the resort. It seemed like he works everywhere. We saw him at different places in the resort. Maryam from the Concierge Desk! She was an angel. She really listened to all of our concerns. She was so friendly and funny. Even when our stay was over and we were waiting for our ride, she offered drinks and food to take with us to the airport. She definitely put a smile back on my face.
