This is my go to coffee shop in Venice. They go out of their way to get to know their customers and make their regulars feel at home. Food is delicious and coffee is to die for. It's nice and clean, and everyone is friendly, but they have NO RESTROOM, not even for paying customers. I was told to use the one at the bar across the street. Excuse me, but isn't that technically stealing? Listen, I understand, it's Venice, there's a lot of homeless folks who are gonna want to use your bathroom and shoot heroin up in there or otherwise make a terrible mess. Fine. Don't let them use it! Keep the key behind the counter, put a combination lock, whatever you have to do to ensure it's only there for actual paying customers. Many other businesses are in the same position and they somehow make it work. But if you're selling a product that is gonna make me want to piss the river Nile within ten minutes of consuming it (i.e. coffee), then at least have the decency to offer me a place to relieve myself and don't tell me to go steal from other people. Right next to the Venice sign is a wonderful cafe that doesn't seem to get as crowded as the other hipster tourist traps in this area. The service is A+ and the seating is plentiful for the time I was there around noon on a sunny Saturday. Not really a place you can do a lot of laptop work, but it's comfortable enough with good coffee and tasty breakfast sandwiches. read more

Luv luv LUV this lil coffee shoppe. I have had lunch and coffee on many occasions here. The coffee is amazing and I have been here often enough to see the owner, who is very friendly. It is family owned and this translates to them treating their customers like family. This is where the locals go. PERIOD. If you are like me and like to people watch, sip your coffee outside. If you wanna people watch from the comfort of being inside, sit by one of their LARGE windows. Plus it is mere steps from Venice beach. Xtra points for having mint coffee all year round!!! I love this place! I hadn't been in for a while, and it used to be kind of whatever. But they fully renovated in the past 2 months and added a bunch of new items to their menus. They now have Nutella Latte (um, hello Heaven??!), whole grain paninis, breakfast burrito and the most insanely delicious HOMEMADE baked goods that are all natural, super fresh, and so tasty! I come here every so often for their ice-blended drinks. They're a good refresher after the beach, or to kick-start the day after a bender. The prices are a little high, about what you'd expect from such a prime-location cafe. $8-10 for a sandwich. $1.50-$5 for drinks. The staff is generally nice. Not super duper friendly, but also not annoyingly obsequious. The interior is standard Venice Hipsterlicious: concrete floors, chalkboard menus, and "rustic" stained wood tabletops. The only way they could appeal to Bohemia more would be by serving coffee in mason jars. read more

Hello! Doing my first Yelp review as a Venice resident. Well, I think we can all agree that there are good experiences and bad experiences. This would fall under the latter. I seriously could find a better breakfast burrito in the trash than what is made and served at this place. Wish I could say that this might've just been a bad day at the office for the people there, but it is evident that there is a lack of care for not only the product, but the well-being of the consumer. Open early around here, good for morning customers or early-birds since I did not see any other places that is open, or that drew my attention to at least.. Good location for tourist, for it is at the corner of where the well-known Venice sign is at. Going for croissant (with turkey with cheese in between) for breakfast while waiting to start work across the street. Their smoothies are so good. Made from real fruit and you get the option of having it with ice or with yogurt. They are both delicious, so if i could drink 2 smoothies i would get 2. Lol. Their sandwiches are also very good. I used to work around the block so i pretty much have tried everything. Everything delivers they are soups are also pretty damn good. Meh. Some good qualities, some just meh. The baristas are VERY friendly. They have customer service down. My latte was good. No complaints there. There is no outdoor seating, yet they have amply room for it. I mean, really, no outdoor seating in Venice??? The indoor seating is small and cramped. I didn't think the atmosphere had a relaxing vibe at all. I mean, it wasn't horrible, but just not relaxing. This is a great place to grab coffee on the go. Was staying at Hotel Erwin, just at the same corner as the cafe is located. I went out to get bagels for breakfast there every morning and it was totally fine. Service is nice, prices are fine and bagels are good but not great. Seating in the cafe itself is ok for a quick breakfast but not really something to hang out and relax for long at a Sunday morning. Wi-fi is not available. I would go there again if I was in the neighborhood. Otherwise it is just not special enough to travel there especially for the cafe itself. read more

Amazing place to have breakfast. Not too costly, considering the fact that they are just at the next cross from the beach. I can really recommend the avocado toast, however it was a little bit too different prepared once I ordered it the other day. I still marvel at the impossible perfection of their egg sandwiches. The eggs so perfectly circular. The toppings so perfectly embedded in the eggs. The cheese ever so melted. The bread ever so toasty and flaky. ....Let it cool off before you bite in and burn the crap out of your mouth though. I've been hitting up Collage for about two years now- and their breakfast is still my favorite cheap spot on all of the West Side, even after trying most places in the area. They always have a huge stack of LA Weekly's by the corner, and it's a great spot for pre-surfing hunger demolition. read more

Very casual atmosphere, with minimum wait time.There were so many choices, I just couldn't decide. Well...I could, but it was hard. Everything looked so tasty that it took a while to settle on what to eat. I'm glad that the cashier was patient with my indecision because when I thought I had it down, I saw something else that made me change my mind. But at last, I settled on The Turkey Classic Sandwich. And I must say, I chose well. The turkey was tender, and very flavorful. I didn't think I would like the chutney sauce, but it was really good. This place has the best bagels and lox that I've ever had. The service is generally good and there is a special maker assigmed to the toasting and building of your special bagels and lox and a tip jar that asks of you not to exclude him from the tipping process. They need to fix the entrance door as it opens somewhat like a barn door and snaps at you as you enter and leave sometimes causing mild pain to the affected area of which you have been smacked. The outside tables comfortably seat 8 to 10 people but most of the chairs and surrounding benches are occupied by vagrants, the fragrance of chain smoking and general soliciting for sundry items Despite the miasma of the second hand smoke and approachable begging, you can't fault the establishment for its location. On the corner, really eye-catching, something tackily reminiscent of Italy. Almost more Italy than Italy. We straggled in, hungry, thirsty, sun-bleached, and it was the perfect place. They even give you free tap water. The breakfast sandwich, on CROISSANT, was delicious. Eggs ever so fluffy. My mouth burned a little with each eager bite. And the fan blades replaced with actual fans rotating languidly above completed the perfect Venice not in Venice experience. read more

Ordered a boba tea, waited 25 minutes. I was standing 2 feet from the counter. Never heard my name. Finally someone asked if I'm melissa, I was handed some kind of blended clear drink with no boba. Oh, oops were out of boba. I got a refund and asked the guy for 30 minutes of my life back. But he was unable to do that. I'm also still thirsty as I wasn't willing to pay 5$ for whatever they gave me that I didn't order. I'll pass on this place. Best of luck to anyone else read more

I thoroughly enjoyed everything ordered here. Tried the lentil soup and it was delicious; came with two pieces of bread. Also tried the bagel lox but had to sub for croissant; it was still pretty bomb. And grabbed the turkey panini and that too just melt in my mouth. Very happen with each dish and you get to sit outside and people watch whilst eating. All of that cost about $27 for two. read more

2.5 stars rounded up for location and people watching potential-- I had an interview nearby and was heading back when I walked by here again.. and well, not knowing for sure when I was due to get a bus back I decided to peek my face in here for awhile. For the first time in a new coffee shop I did not get chai. It's kind of mind boggling actually. I did however get one of their specialty espressos. It began with a C but I'm not sure what the name is off the top of my head. It was an almond cocoa blend. Pretty good too. Also got a pecan square that was not baked there. Total was $6.20. A bit high but expected given its location. Great spot for people watching and stopping in between your thrifting at nearby shops like Aardvarks (down the corner) and Gotta Have It (next door). It's in the heart of the tourist area as well too with the Hotel Erwin kiddie corner. The location would've merited a solid 3-4 stars if there had been two things different: 1)There is no public restroom here. I'm not really sure why not. But at a coffee shop this is kind of.. it's got to be there. Otherwise it's less about the customer relaxing and more about just trying to get you in for a limited time and then get out again. 2)I had been able to connect to a Wifi signal. For some reason I was unable to do so despite their free Wifi. Btw the code to get in their wifi is cafecollage01. Maybe your luck would be better than mine. read more
