Horrible delivery experience! Ordered through Seamless at 7:45p and was given window of delivery as 8:25p - 8:35p. At 8:45p I called to check, was told food was on the way. 20 mins later no food so I called back. Woman wouldn't answer me if food ever went out and wouldn't let me cancel my order. Told me to wait 10 more mins. After 12 mins, I called again and told her food still hadn't arrived. She just said she'd cancel my order (no apology, no further explanation). At 9:45p (2 HRs after I ordered) the food arrived, we just sent it back. read more

We went to a show and we're looking for Thai for dinner. This place came up on yelp so we went. It was a lovely restaurant and we ate in the garden because it was such a beautiful day. This is a great neighborhood Thai go-to place with solid Thai food and very reasonable prices. Their portions aren't huge but they have good quality food. In particular, their pad thai is quite authentic. They have good basil chicken and their cashew stir fry with tofu is good too. Their dishes are flavorful without being too salty or saucy which can be the downfall of some other Thai restaurants. I will be coming here more often. read more

I have been going to this restaurant for years, but one of the waitresses (who is a middle-aged woman and whose name begins with a 'K' ) is consistently curt and inattentive. I had the same experience yesterday afternoon after taking a nearly 6 month hiatus to avoid the regular poor customer service I have grown accustom to. It is important for me to point out that this is NOT my experience when I have to fortune of being served by servers at this establishment. I called yesterday afternoon and requested to speak to the manager and was told that there was no manager. Was in the neighborhood for the first time in a few years and was looking for Thai food. I saw Chili and it looked really nice from the outside. The menu was clearly posted on the window and the prices were very reasonable. I gave it a quick google and it had good reviews so I stopped in for a late lunch. I ordered from the lunch menu. The lemon grass soup appetizer was delicious. It had a spicy kick to it but was just right, not too spicy. Then I had the Shrimp Pad Thai. The portion was generous. My friend and I were in the neighborhood to celebrate Bastille Day at Bar Tabac - well, the celebration was a little crowded so we walked over Cafe Chili. The restaurant was quiet and we grabbed a great spot in front of the window where we could people-watch. I ordered pad thai and she had a salad - both were good. The server was nice, the bathroom was clean, and the food was good; what more could you ask for? When it comes to delivery in the Brooklyn Heights/Cobble Hill area, Cafe Chili stand out as one of the greatest. Honestly, i may or may not comprise 25% of their orders because they do a couple dishes so right. The Crispy Duck Salad (ask for extra spice) and the Chu Chee Duck are serious stand outs. Good, bright flavors. Perfectly cooked duck, and though not seriously authentic thai cuisine, they are both clean dishes and reasonably priced. If you're looking for more, try the Chicken Satay and the Volcano Chicken is very very unique. The staff is inanely nice and the delivery is fast. What more do you need? Food was just so so. What I want to talk about is their people. I ordered delivery to my hotel. The guy arrived on time and called me. He just talked what he wanted to say then hung up, without allowing me to say a word. I did not get him so I just kept waiting. He then called again and scolded me on the phone then hung up straight. So I called the restaurant to find out what happened. The lady told me she does not have the number of the delivery person so she could not check, then hung up. The whole thing repeats and ended up he just left my food unattended in the lobby. Hotel staff were the ones to help me find the food! I guess they were in a rush or lack of people. But you shouldn't offer delivery service if that's the case! Couldn't imagine how can treat their customers like this. Terrible experience! Would never come to eat again. I had dinner at Cafe Chili last night with a friend (03/21/09) and I had the pad thai because I rarely deviate from it because why mess up a good thing? The pad thai here was DELISH. It was as good as my ultimate favorite thai place, Thai Market, which is on the upper west side NYC (my neighborhood). It was super spicy like I like it, and the flavors were excellent. The only thing I was disappointed with was the Rose wine which tasted a little cheap...but other than that....I love the decor (I don't think it's weird??). read more

I actually had my wedding reception here, the food came out in time. Friendly service, the food was amazing and the plating was spectacular. They made heart shape rice, carved flowers out of radishes and scripted a personalized menu with four different entre choices. Let's not even go into the decor, romantic just beautiful. After a very bad experience at a Thai place up the street, I decided to try this place. I ordered pad thai spicy, chicken red curry spicy and chicken satay. The food was awesome. The satay was cooked perfectly, and had great peanut sauce. The pad thai was very tasty as was the red curry. Of note- it was pretty spicy- so if you like food very spicy, that's the way to order it. If you like it not that hot- maybe order it medium spice. Service was very good and the owner was very kind to those of us ordering take out. I'm absolutely a fan. As I searched Cafe Chili I was very shocked by the reviews. The food is not horrible, it's decent. I was with my date and the only reason we stopped here was because our movie started in about 1 hour.. so we needed something quick and near Court St Theaters. For the appetizer we had "Pretty Package" It was dumplings served with a thick soy sauce. It was delicious. I believe the dumplings were stuffed with chicken and seafood. they gave a total of 5 I had 2 and she had 3 (Greedy Bastard!) J/K. For the entree she had Pad Thai Chicken or Chicken Pad Thai, how ever you say it. I had the # 34 Sea Scallops & Shrimp.. it came with a curried sauce and it had cashews, It was a party in my mouth. I don't consume alcohol so I figure she didn't want to drink alcohol to play follow the leader.. so we both had the Thai Iced Tea!.. Damn!! I loved that shit!!! It tasted like regular Lipton tea bags.. steeped and then they added condensed milk to it so 75% tea and 25% milk. Overall... it's a great place to eat.. not too crowded.. the ambiance was very nice.. try it out. read more

With the slew of Thai restaurants on Court Street, the quality of food is what will distinguish the good from the bad. Unfortunately, the food here is just mediocre. The service and the decor help, but it eventually boils down to the quality of the food. I've only ever got food delivered from this place. The first time, I had ordered pad thai with lemon grass soup, and it's the worst that I've ever had in my life, was bland and tasteless. The Second time, I ordered curry and rice along with salad, which tasted quite nice, and the quanity was pretty good for the price. However, I ordered the same curry and salad combination the very next day, but the quantity was reduced to half, and they took about an hour to make the delivery. They do take over half an hour to deliver food usually, but mind you, I only live 2 blocks away. read more

Very rude male server. The meal was fine and my waitress was good. The waitress finished swiping my credit card to pay for my meal and I was holding a pen in my hand while figuring out the tip when a male server came over and told me I had to sign the receipt. He apologized after seeing the pen in my hand but it was a very rude and unprofessional intrusion on what would have been a fine dining experience. He was not my server and there was no need for his intrusion, the waitress serving me was good and if he allowed her to finish the transaction, my dining experience would have been fine as she was polite and courteous. I hope no other diner has this bad experience and the male server receives training in customer service. The restaurant was not full, perhaps, for good reason.
