I fell in love with Cafe Blue the minute I stepped in. Staff is amazing and so friendly. The music is relaxing and different from what you listen to on your day to day which is perfect because I get to concentrate while working. They also have board games, books, chess and other fun things to play around with! They have the most amazing coffee as well as different milk alternatives ( Oat milk is my favorite ). On our visit to Bellingham, during a wintry week in February, we needed a go-to coffee place to start our days. I'm so glad we found Cafe Blue. A cozy yet surprisingly spacious cafe with French inspired decor, comfy seating, and thriving house plants, Cafe Blue seems inspired by generations of coffee houses and cafes. It's fresh and modern, but feels like it's been here forever at the same time. Beyond aesthetics, this port in the literal storm exudes warmth and genuineness. Lily and Kyle couldn't have been more welcoming. They went above and beyond engaging us in conversation and even writing down places we should explore while in town. As for the coffee and food, Kyle makes the pastries everyday which are inventive and delicious. The coffees were rich and bright with flavor. Initially I peered into the widow of this place to spy their morning breakfast blackboard menu only to see "ricotta & jam toast". It was marvelous. However, you have to be insane to order from the blackboard menu until you see they're faire on the counter. The aesthetics of this cafe are deserving of five stars & beyond. It's so cute, cozy, and perfectly situated in sleepy old Fairhaven. I've come a total of three times now, and had generally the same experience as far as service and coffee quality. The staff are friendly but seem to be more interested in their own conversations than the customers. My latte's have been okay, but slightly bitter each time - most likely because the espresso sits for too long before being added. That being said, each time I've come in I've promptly received the caffeine I needed and completed my work in a friendly and beautiful atmosphere. I was worried when The Rustic went out of business, but Cafe Blue has improved on the previous owners by ditching the wine bar, and just setting good coffee, fantastic baked goods and friendly staff in a glorious decor. The place is just a simple coffeehouse, no frills, but the atmosphere, aided by great cheerful colors and quirky decorations, gives you the urge call into work and see if you can work from there all day.
