The most important thing to do when going to Nordstrom is to order the fries. They come covered in herbs and seasoning that tastes delicious. They also come with a Calamata Olive Aeoli that is probably the best dipping sauce in the world. Try the Roast Chicken, and split it. There is enough Roast Chicken and fries for two, and it's the best thing I've had so far. Even though there are long waits, Cafe Bistro has a relaxed ambience, friendly staff, and consistently delicous food that is not that pricey, especially for its quality. read more

Getting really frustrated with this place . My husband and I eat here on occasion specifically for their fresh berry salad. At damn near $16 a pop I expected to get everything listed on the menu under said salad. Yesterday was the second time however, they take my order, take my money, seat us and then deliver the salads and tell me AFTER the fact that the dried strawberries are out again(after I ask why they are not on my plate.) this happens to me my favorite part of the salad , pretty much the only reason I come to this cafe to order it, and now two times in a row they do not disclose this info to me until after the fact. Delicious food. Salads are delicious and refreshing. Be sure to ask for bread and butter. Also, if you're going for lunch get there by 11:15 or you will probably have to wait. I was there on a Friday and by 11:30 there was a line to be seated. If you want a booth, get there by 11:00. Not too noisy and perfect place for a good meal during your shopping trip. It's located on the second floor behind women's lingerie. I ordered the shrimp cilantro salad. It had really nice meaty sizes of shrimp and crisp mesclun style lettuce with yummy dressing and those super thin onion crispy strips. There's plenty of great choices here too. Looking forward to going back. Not crazy about having to order at the front like a cafeteria and paying at that time and then sitting down and having food delivered. To me, you're either a cafeteria style or you're a full service restaurant. But the food makes up for this minor bump in the road. read more

South Austin doesn't have many finer restaurants - so I'm very happy that the Nordstrom Cafe is in the area. I eat there frequently and it is always good and very pleasant & calm. The salad's are really the best in town (and i'm not a big salad eater!). The decor is lovely and designed to muffle noise and be comfortable. Kids & babies are welcomed and you can sit at the counter bar and watch the meal preparations and chat with the chefs about the food! This year it was simply great for Valentines Day ! My husband and I initially weren't going to brave the crowds and just planned to stay home and do nothing. But at the last minute my mom talked us into going out on a date - even though we had no reservations! So being tired and harried and not wanting to brave crowds & downtown without reservations, we went to the cafe and had a wonderful relaxing Valentines evening. A tasty meal - seared Ahi tuna for him and the 3-cheese pizza for me, a wonderful dessert, and a bottle of wine. All for less than $50, with no wait, no fuss, and a calm, pleasant atmosphere. We chose to eat at the cafe because we thought it would be nutritionally sounder than the mall food court options. The ordering, seating and serving process is completely nonsensical. There are staff EVERYWHERE yet the system is completely inefficient. We were corralled out the front of the cafe in womenswear and given paper menus. You are to make your selection whilst standing in the actual store. Once you are allowed into the cafe proper, you head to an ill-located register where you order and pay. Simple, right? No. Then you take your receipt and are seated as 6 other staff members who dont appear to be assigned to anything in particular mill about. Then, we sat down in the booth we were directed to, put our receipt down and waited. And waited. And wondered why, in this glorified cafeteria, our drinks were taking so long. Well, thats because the waiter then comes to your table, checks over your receipt, confirms your order tand THEN sets about getting your drinks. I believe they call this double handling. So after all this time, the drinks were not even on the way - was there a point in having ordered them up front at all? My friend requested lemon in her diet coke and her dressing on the side. The waiter forgot the lemon twice and the salad came fully dressed, no sides. Is there really a point in feigning being a full service upscale cafe when you're clearly failing at it? So basically, its a to-go setup with superfluous waitstaff. Kinda like a cheap hooker in a Chanel suit. It just dont look right. And whilst the food was decent, it certainly wasnt of a level which would redeem the service experience. read more

First words 1 hour before Nordstrom the Department Store closed were, "Hi, we're closed." No "Hi how are you today" with an interest to not a tick of interest towards its customers. I tried to enjoy a dinner with my wife and son since I hadn't been able to spend time with them and thought it would be a nice place and experience. I hope that Rob Balon goes their on a Sunday at 6:30pm and gives a thumbs down just for refusing to serve them during normal business hours of the Department store. I can't even comment on food since nothing was ordered. Store has yet to know what a closed sign means. At least use your printer in the office or something and buy a tripod/sign worth displaying, or is that too good for you too? read more

I love the bistro, its by far, one of the places i crave the most. I love the atmosphere, the food, and the friendly staff. Usually i get the roasted chicken breast with angel hair pasta and tomato sauce/butter lemon sauce and it is delicious. I also love their steak. Bring some cash with you when you go because thats how they are tipped at the bistro, you can't write in a tip on the credit card recipt. read more

I like this cafe, the menu has very nice selections and they were all very tasty when it came out. Dip the crab bisque with the bruschetta, it's absolutely perfect for winter! Good ambience but usually with little crowd, maybe because not many people know or think about this place when they are in the mall. Their pizza is fantastic! you've gotta give it a try! read more

This is by far the best place to grab a bite to eat if you find yourself at Barton Creek Mall. Food is high quality. I like their salad selection and usually order the lime cilantro shrimp salad. I love their fries sprinkled with rosemary and accompanied by aioli sauce. They are so good! Roasted chicken and goat cheese panini is delicious. If you are a prosecco fan stay away! Cheap and bad tasting prosecco here. Staff is very attentive and always friendly. read more

Corporate canceled the "Warm Goat Cheese Salad" WHAT A Shame! It was a favorite of all of my friends. O'well - they said "corporate canceled it!) Also they are being a little cheap on the lemon slices for tea. They call them lemon wedges! You can't even get any juice from them. Rethink that please......... Absolutely love the food at this restaurant. Every time we go (at least 10), the food is terrific and the service is very attentive and friendly. Besides the food (which is great), the atmosphere and ease of dining is the best part. It's very easy to shop with the kids and stop in for a quick lunch which is delicious. The staff here is really nice and usually pretty cool to me. But I have a bad taste in my mouth after the last experience I asked for them to substitute extra fries instead of a cup of fruit and they wouldn't do it. Kinda turned me off. They had a t-shirt right outside the door for $150 bucks and they couldn't hook me up with some fries. What's most annoying is that they did it before. Kinda turned me off. This restuarant is in the Nordstroms! It has very classic american food and it is pretty good! You wait in line to order your food and you pay before you eat then you are giving a table and the food will come to you! They have really good salads and the pizzas are good too! read more

As others mentioned, this is a gem that most overlook because of it's location inside of Norstrom. We ate there twice, and enjoyed it both times. The flat-iron steak sandwich was good and the new French Dip sandwich was outstanding! The fries were also very tasty. The soup du jour was good and the French Onion soup was great. Service was really good both time. We will definitely return to try other items on the menu. read more

This place never fails me. My favorite is the chicken and pommes frites, I can't seem to NOT get this when i go to eat here. The chicken is cooked to perfection and the fries are just about the best fries I've ever had---I think it's the seasoning they use. Risotto with shrimp is very tasty, as well as the pannini. It's not cheap, but the food court at Barton creek is absolutely horrible! This is a nice treat, it doesn't feel like you are at the mall ( the only other choice is California pizza kitchen and its comparable in price and not as good. When eating at CPK I feel like I am at an airport restaurant, it kinda sucks ). The lobster bisque is amazing, I always get that! I have also had the mushroom pizza and a turkey sandwich both very good. I worked at the mall for a year, and mall workers sing the praises of this cafe, I have never heard anything negative. I prefer the little coffee shop down stairs to Starbucks. read more

Tucked into a cozy corner on the 2nd floor of Nordstrom's is a hidden gem called Cafe Bistro. I ordered the warm asian glazed chicken salad. It was a delightful blend of fresh greens, glazed chicken, wontons, mandarins and almonds with a sesame ginger dressing. Our other plate was the black forest ham and cheese sandwich. The bonus was sitting at the bar as we could watch the chefs work together in creating these tasty dishes. read more

Just ate there. Had the Warm Asian Glazed Chicken 5/5, chicken was perfectly cooked, and a Chicken Tomato Triple Pepper Bisque 3.5/5. The Bisque was fantastic on first taste, but the pepper (spicy) overpowered the taste after the third spoonful. All the surrounding tables were cleaning their plates and I caught a few people closing their eyes and savoring the taste. I'll definitely be back. read more
