Food was really good and service was not bad either, only complaint is they were slightly condescending at times due to my age. However I don't really care because the atmosphere and food were just that good. Ordered Thanksgiving dinner from Cafe Benedi t Turkey was huge and great. Juicy and well seasoned. Gravy and cranberry sauce were excellent. All the sides were pretty good and portions were fine. My wife did touch up the yams to make them better. Rolls were dry and pointless. Pecan pie was a huge disappointment. Tasted aweful. We threw it out. Overall dinner was good. read more

Great food, great people, always a bit crowded for lunch but worth the wait. Make sure you show up hungry.

Came here for a date on a Friday evening. We had reservations for 7:30 and my date was seated promptly. Parking is pretty easy as the cafe is located in a strip of other businesses and they were closed. Ambiance is business casual and there was a live piano player. The crowd was mostly older, and not very diverse but I still felt pretty comfortable. Service was amazing and my food was amazing as well. I had the grilled salmon. Would definitely be back. read more

My boyfriend and I have been looking to find a nice brunch place since moving to the area. We decided to check out Cafe Benedicte since it is only 3 minutes away from where we live. Let me tell you, this place serves food with very fresh ingredients! I had their Country Fried Steak and scrambled eggs, and my boyfriend had their breakfast tacos. We both loved our food and noticed how good their bacon, egg and cheese tacos are even though it was just simple ingredients. Goes to show that the quality of ingredients really make a difference in ones dish. I definitely recommend this place and we will definitely be back. read more

I've been looking to try a new brunch place to try so I found Cafe Benedicte. My friend and I really enjoyed our experience. We began with a bellini which was a little more sweet than I would like but it was very tasty. For brunch we ordered a breakfast meat skillet and the scallop dinner. The meat skillet was very delicious and I had more than enough left to take home. The scallops were some of the best I've ever tasted. The scallops lay on a bed of salad which compliments them well. I also ordered a waffle which I should've said no to because my eyes were bigger than my stomach but it was so fluffy and good. The server was sweet and very attentive. read more

I have intended to dine here for many years but last night was the first time. It was a wonderful evening with friends. The staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive. It was a little slower than anticipated but not bothersome. The food we all had was excellent. Well prepared, hot and very nice presentation. We had the blackened redfish ponchartrain, the grilled pork chop and steak Diane. They were all delicious as were the lentil and French onion soups and the bread pudding and carrot cake for dessert. Will definitely have Cafe Benedicte on our go to restaurant list in the future. read more

My sister and I just moved to the area and were looking for a place to eat brunch and this was pretty close to where we live. I had the Paella and she had the pancakes. Paella looked yummy but unfortunately tasted nothing like a paella. I was very disappointed with the flavor. I could only taste the oily flavor and no other flavors. My sister had the pancakes which she really liked but it came with barely any maple syrup. Our waiter was nice but might have been newer since he didn't seem to be on top of his game at all. He was not asking if we needed coffee refills and when we asked him for refills he would completely forget until we reminded him and then he dripped coffee on our table when he was pouring it. He did though ask about gluten free bread and after i reminded him 3 times remembered to bring us some to try with marmalade. Overall a little disappointed with the experience. read more

I have been to Cafe Benedicte for lunch many times and it is always good. However, I had not been for dinner in a very long and we were pleasantly surprised. It was so nice. Cafe Benedict is a nice place for lunch. It is located in the energy corridor. The portion sizes are enough to feed two people, which is awesome. I personally got the lobster bisque and farfalle Luigi. I would not order the bisque again as the lobster had a funny texture and the soup had no seasoning. The pasta was really good. I'd definitely order it again. One of the downfalls is how long it takes to get your food. I would give this restaurant another try. read more

I went to Cafe Benedicte for a private birthday celebration. They did an amazing job decorating and handling the party. Me and my daughter ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fries and it was delicious. Came here for dinner in a Wednesday evening. They have a special tapas menus that is only available on Wednesdays and I believe it changes weekly if I remember what our waiter said correctly. I appreciate that they have an outdoor patio which we enjoyed. The waitstaff was pretty friendly and attentive although the food did take a little longer than expected to come out. I had their multigrain protein bowl with shrimp which looked so pretty but didn't come together for me taste wise. They had a siracha aioli that came with the dish but it was too spicy and one noted to pour over everything. I think some kind of vinaigrette might have been a better dressing for the dish. The shrimp was well flavored but a little over cooked in my opinion. I also had their lentil soup which was kinda average. There was hummus for the table and that was just ok. I found it interesting that the crowd at this place was also one note and let's just say our table had the most flavor but maybe it was just the night we came in. read more

My sister and I wanted to grab some brunch and found this restaurant in the area. We got a table right away and didn't have to wait. Our server disappeared on us for a good 15 mins. We were trying to look for her, but she just passed our table as if we weren't sitting there. They gave us some BREAD, which was very simple, but I really liked the jam that came with it. The bread itself had a lot of burnt parts so I had to cut off about half of each piece. It makes me wonder if they deem that serve-able what else would they serve. TEMPURA SALMON BENEDICTE- english muffin topped with tempura salmon, poached eggs, and hollandaise I was really excited to try this dish, but it was so dry. Everything from the muffin, to the salmon, to the hollandaise. The english muffin had too much of a crisp to it, which would have been fine if the salmon wasn't overly cooked and fried. The salmon was bland and didn't have much flavor and the hollandaise sauce was weak. It didn't provide that creaminess I was looking for and the poached eggs were overcooked because the yolk wasn't runny enough to encompass the other ingredients. Overall, this dish was very disappointing and lacking in flavor. Service was sub-par and food was disappointing. I really wanted to like this place, but I just can't. read more

Quite a lovely brunch spot when you don't feel like driving into town. I had two orders of the biscuits and gravy (they come a la carte at $4 a piece) and a friend had the paella. Now, I was really feeling the B&G because I was hungover af but I am definitely coming back for the paella. I also want to try out some of the other Mediterranean dishes, like the hummus. A pleasant experience overall. read more

No one greeted us, we were standing there for a couple of minutes and the bartender said in a loud voice- take a sit wherever you like. Can't say much about their food because I felt a bit deceived by its name. Cafe there is nothing to Cafe. There is no breakfast or brunch style of meals. A bit over priced for location and spot. Ambience felt a bit tense. Waiters and waitresses had no idea what was on the menu. The manager or owner was upset at one of their employees. Who knows- One of the waiters could barely speak good English so definitely there was a language barrier. Wont be going back to this place. Normally wouldn't give bad reviews but this is simply my experience at this place. Things happen. They shouldn't happen but it did. Giving this place 2 stars giving the benefit of the doubt on the dinner Menu... I guess - overall Bad Customer service, we had to leave. Loved the black grand piano at the entrance - no one playing it though. read more

Lovely upscale neighborhood spot for brunch in the energy corridor. I don't know why in the world I hadn't been here until now. Beautiful, large interior with multiple dining spaces, a gorgeous wine room and a spacious bar area. I understand live music will be reintroduced eventually, too. What a gem! My boyfriend had the meat lovers omelet loaded with all sorts of things and had a side of fruit. I had the caprese omelet dressed with pesto and stuffed with buffalo mozzarella, basil & tomato. I also had a sparkling Bellini and he had a Bloody Mary. What a treat! The owner Vahid was attentive and delightful and the staff members did a great job as well without feeling intrusive. read more

Excellent food, service and ambiance - as always. Cafe Benedict is consistently a great place to dine.

Nice atmosphere and delicious meal. Creme Brûlée was excellent as was the chicken piccata. Service was great as well. We'll be back.

I've checked in five times and visited on many other occasions. These folks got it goin' on! Offering a great variety on their menu in a really cool setting that makes you feel like you're in the Mediterranean, Cafe Benedicte is truly one of my favorite West Houston restaurants. I've tried many of their menu items - among my favorites are the paella, lamb shank, steak Diane, and blackened redfish (some of the best blackened red you'll ever eat IMO). They offer a full bar and a nicely stocked wine list, including ample selections by the glass. You can order off the full menu at the bar or enjoy their stellar table service. On many evenings they feature live music - an uber talented young man that plays the piano, sax, flute, and I'm sure a plethora of other instruments. It's very tasteful and adds just the right amount of "cool" to the dinner ambience. If you are a fan of locally owned and managed restaurants, you're really doing yourself a disservice if you don't visit the Cafe. This one's a winner, and 5 stars from me is a no brainer. read more

Cafe Benedicte - Nice menu! - Mediterranean Near Me - Houston, Texas

Went in for Sunday brunch. Limited parking but posh, upscale, beautiful & clean restaurant. Wonderful, attentive service. Food was good. Bonus: they served bread with homemade jelly, the strawberry & pineapple were delicious. I ordered the eggs Benedict but for an up up charge they let me switch the bacon for smoked salmon. My hash browns were soft with not much flavor but not a big deal for me, just added pepper. Boyfriend had the Meat lovers skillet & had no complaints. Overall great experience and beautiful place! Older affluent crowd not great for children. Patio is small but plenty of shade! Lovely spot! read more

This is a beautiful restaurant with some walls decorated with scenery of a lovely spot in Europe. I came here with friends for brunch. Our waiter was nice and attentive. We ordered coffee first. I had the dark chocolate latte, and I liked it. It was a bit sweet for my liking. But, the flavor made up for that. I loved that it came with two little amaretto biscottis that I could dip into my latte. Flavor notes of almond and chocolate hit my tastebuds. So good. For the entree, I ordered their spinach omelette. It looked simple enough from the outside. But, the inside spoke for itself. It was a well seasoned omelette with every bite filled with spinach, mushrooms, garlic, cheese, and a cream sauce. It was just delicious. Their hash browns were good too. Next time, I may try their caprese omelette. My friends seemed to enjoy their entrees as well. If you're looking for a day drinking spot instead, they also serve mimosas, bellinis, and champagne for brunch. So, come check them out. read more

Had lunch late Sunday with a girlfriend it was very tasty and the service was excellent. I love a chopped salad .

There are a few times in your yelp life that you want to try a place that gets less than 4.5 stars. Sometimes you want to eat at a place without checking the reviews. Or you're too tired of looking and figure 4/5 is better than average. That is what I was thinking when I walked in here. When I walked in Sunday morning, I looked around and saw the hostess tending to some menus on the side. She turned to greet me with a smile and showed us a table. We requested a little more privacy and she accommodated our seating request. So far so good. Service was friendly and vigilant. Frequent but non intrusive check-ins. The brunch menu was neither limited nor extensive and the dishes had great names, ingredients, and seemed to offer an exciting experience. Prices were average, neither a bargain, nor what some may consider overpriced. However, the food was underwhelming. The vaunted bread and jam complimentary starter was disappointing. The bread crust was pale and weak. The inside bread was soft and reminiscent of sourdough. Perhaps this is how you sell bread, but when serving it, I would expect a crustier crust. The eggs benedict - the poached eggs were perfect. The muffins were toasted and hot. This was perhaps the best part of the meal. The fresh fruit side had mushy watermelon (like watermelon that is old or bruised) and the pineapple pieces - cut into edible bites but tart and not quite ripe. The waffle was neither good nor bad. Not particularly memorable. Cooked but not crispy nor soggy. The setting and ambiance were perhaps the reason most dine here. It is a good place to do business over a meal. It is in a nice neighborhood and the staff are well dressed and courteous. And I suppose you can have a meal without breaking the bank. But I value the quality of the food and I think that more could be done in that arena. The bread - should have an option to offer it toasted so that it is easier to spread the butter and the jams. The fruit should be absolutely ripe and fresh. Take a bite before serving it. The eggs were done right - no complaint. The muffin was right was well. The waffle should be cooked to give it a bit of a bite instead of being a soft piece of bread that offers minimal texture. Oh, I forgot about the coffee. It's mild and watery. Certainly easy to drink black. It is weaker than the brews most people are accustomed to these days. I like a strong cup of coffee. I assume that is what I'll get when I order one. But again, perhaps the clientele at this location like a milder and less "in your face" approach to food. All together, I think the restaurant is good for the location and ambiance. It is somewhere you go when you want the focus to be on the people you are with because the setting and service make it so. You may also enjoy the food, but I didn't. I would not consider this a place for a "foodie" to visit. read more

Cafe Benedicte - Mediterranean Near Me - Houston, Texas

HRW has finally arrived and my first place happened to be Cafe Benedicte on Friday for lunch. This place seemed very busy for lunch, however I was a little disappointed at the beginning with their service. There was no hostess and multiple waiters passed by me until someone took notice that I was waiting to be helped for a table. As for food, there was only a choice of 4 out of the 6 appetizers they listed online. I was slightly disappointed since I wanted to try the salmon cakes. I opted for the mussels instead and boy was I glad this was the one I chose. The sauce that came with the mussels made the dish. The garlic butter and white wine reduction sauce was delicious and oh so scrumptious. Definitely a winner. I tried my friend's fried mushrooms as well and those were delectable as well. Entrees were a little more disappointing. I ordered the Sesame Crusted Seared Tuna at medium rare which comes as a salad. I've had very good seared tuna before but certain pieces of tuna some times had a very fishy taste. I was not very impressed. My sister's lamb shank seemed like a better option, however she wasn't very impressed with it. As for desserts, this was the only reason my sister chose this place based on the items they listed online. However, we were disappointed when we realized they only had 3 of the 5 desserts on their actual HRW menu for us to choose from. Sigh...so my sister and friend opted for the Petite Chocolate Decadence & Baklava and I ordered the Crème Brulee. The creme brulee was delicious! I'm more a fan of lots of custard rather than a torched top so winner for me! As for the chocolate decadence and baklava, the chocolate decadence wasn't anything special, however the baklava was delicious. Nice and flaky, however I wish the portion size was bigger. Overall, I wouldn't come here as this restaurant is too far from where I live and the entrees weren't very impressive, however I did love the mussels and desserts. read more

My burger was BAD. Not good at all. All the components seemed like an after thought. (More details on my DINNER later) That being said, I don't believe this restaurant is meant for the Foodie. The client tell looks like REALLY old people trying to enjoy a night away from home with drinks served in mugs and wine glasses. And I'll admit it, if I were over 60, and I was looking to get pleasantly buzzed, this would be a nice place to do it. But I'm not.... I'm a foodie from NYC trying to get a good burger from the $15 they were asking and I failed... My burger was some where between lukewarm and cold. The two slices of Gouda cheese on my black Angus burger couldn't even melt on bacon or burger... Don't event get me started on that disgrace they called portobello mushrooms. SERIOUSLY?!! SMH. The bun didn't match the patty (super small compared to the brioche) and WORST of all was the "black Angus" was tasteless and under seasoned. The fries were lukewarm too (And a bit soggy). The wife liked her potato crushed salmon. Eh... I didn't have any. So the questions I had for the wife were: 1. Did you enjoy your food? 2. Would you go back? A: yes and NO. I have to agree with her. For a meal costing $42 without drinks, we want good food. And this cafe doesn't qualify in the "good food" category. It's a shame, the staff was great. read more

I've come here several times for happy hour and lunch since it's so close to work. The owner is really nice, and the service has been pretty good each time - very attentive. I've tried the following menu items (1-5 with 5 being the best): Smoked Salmon Quesadillas: 5 (there is something about salmon quesadillas in general that I love..maybe it's the unusual combination instead of beef/chicken....so of course I loved this dish) Hummus with pita bread: 3 (I never understood what the hype is around hummus...thus, I can't tell what's considered good or bad...I thought it was pretty tasty but I'm forever a chips and salsa girl) Lasagna lazio: 4 Bowtie pasta putanesca: 4 Crepe brulee: 5! (I'm a "Creme Brulee lover". Why would I NOT give it a 5? The dish is unique in the sense that it's in a warm, crispy crepe. LOVE!) Homemade chocolate mousse and ganache cake: 4.5 (I'm not a huge chocolate fan since I think it tends to get rich after a couple of bites, but I think all the chocolate lovers out there will love it. The portion size is quite big, and it also comes with ice cream on the side.) Homemade baklava: 5 (the portion size is quite small which is disappointing because it's so delicious. I've contemplated about ordering two but didn't want to look like a pig :-/ ) I've never come when I'm off work since it's so far, but it's definitely a place I consider when I need lunch options at work. read more
