Wonderful date night with live piano player. We enjoyed hummus appetizer, the blackened redfish pontchartrain and pork chop ending it all with yummy carrot cake for dessert. We ate our food too fast to take pictures of it all. Highly recommend this neighborhood gem! read more

Cafe Benedicte - Carrot Cake - Mediterranean Near Me - Houston, Texas

On a Thursday afternoon, my family and I called to reserve a large table for 17. Cafe Benedicte was able to accommodate us and had very pleasant waiters. The cuisine is Mediterranean, so it has rich flavors with a healthier twist. Don't let that fool you; the dishes are hearty. For an appetizer, we shared the light hummus and naan. It was the perfect plate to pass around and keep conversation flowing. For my main meal, I order the pasta primavera and it arrived in a gigantic dish. The sauce was creamy and paired perfectly with the bow tie pasta. Since I was extra hungry, I also asked for the mac and smoked Gouda cheese. It was not the pasta overload I was expecting and can now say Cafe Benedicte has the best Mac and Cheese I have ever tasted. Lastly, their chocolate cakes (flourless and another that comes with vanilla ice cream) are the perfect size for your stuffed belly. This is a classy dinner joint with live music in the evening and I want to try everything on their menu. Next time. :) read more

Perfect spot to catch up with a friend, the waitstaff' was very friendly. The food arrived fast and it was delicious. The price and portions are also great. It's a quiet spot, they do have piano nights during the week. My friend celebrated her birthday in their private room, it was about 15 of us. The price was extremely reasonable for such a large party. The orders were all correct and came out in a timely manner. read more

Maintaining high levels of customer service during the pandemic can be difficult to find BUT not here! My large party of 8 received genuine service during our dinner and the attentive staff ensured our glasses were full and each person was satisfied with their meal. All staff wore mask and would wear gloves when handling food/ drink service. The restaurant is minding social distance guidelines very well. They sat us in a private nook / section which made us all feel so comfortable not to worry about people constantly walking by. The dishes are just as good as the service! The calamari is served with hot pickeld peppers that are addictive. Luckily the sauce helps cool your tongue down. This restaurant has a very good lobster bisque. Other dishes that were devoured included the Luigi pasta and red fish. And who could forget dessert! The bananas foster is all you need but there are great choices for chocolate lovers. We celebrated a birthday and it was so nice to have the staff sing in harmony to our 9 yr old. (Everyone still wearing a mask). Little normals still can happen and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to accommodate social distancing and celebrate. read more

My wife and I recently celebrated the New Year at Cafe Benedicte. The service and atmosphere are top notch. The filet I had was among the best I've ever had, even a high-end steak restaurants. There is a warm feeling of family each time we go there for all our anniversaries and birthdays. read more

Food was great, service was exceptional and it is a great place for dinner and to converse with your fellow diners in a quiet environment.

One of my favorite local restaurants. The interior is bright and informal and it has a nice (although small) outdoor patio dining area. Service is always attentive without being too intrusive. The food selection has a great mediteranian emphasis with a few Cajun, Persian and Indian influences thrown in. I particularly enjoy the Paella, Chicken Piri Piri, Couscous and Pork Chop Au Poivre. We recently met at Cafe Benedicte with a group of friends and everyone was able to find something interesting. The wine selection is good and reasonably priced. read more

Lobster bisque and baked Brie were amazing! The paella was good but a little saucy for my taste. Service was exceptional and the live piano music was a nice surprise. read more

Such a cute little brunch spot! Perfect for a small gathering or a date. They give you free bread at the beginning, accompanied by jam, marmalade, and butter. Some of the BEST french toast I've ever had! They were bite-size too, so it's perfect for sharing. The chicken crepes were also AMAZING! Amazing service, food, price, and atmosphere. There's a small patio outside as well, for the nice weather days. Definitely worth a visit if you're looking for a new brunch spot! read more

If you didn't order Cafe Benedicte's Thanksgiving to go meal, you really missed out! It was wonderful and the turkey was delicious and moist. We enjoyed everything and all we had to do was heat it up. I'm leaving Thanksgiving to these experts from now on! It beat other restaurants we've tried in the past. Their in person dining is also great - food, service, and ambiance. We recommend highly! read more

Christine & Pasquale Leonetti This review is overdue , we love Cafe Benedict & go there when we are in town. This was a special occasion , a ThankYou , to good friends , atty's with their wives as a ThankYou in handling legal work . The date of our small party was 10/21/2023. I called Havid to set up arrangements ... we were in a private room and the ambiance & Food service was simply over the top. The Resturant was packed , we each had a different selection from the menu from Appetizers, to steak to salmon. All perfectly presented & temperature Perfect !! Wine selection was amazing , however , the Bar Makes a mean " lemon drop martini " that was had by 4 women in attendance. .. BTW , my choice of Vodka was Grey Goose ... We received so many " Kudos" on our Cafe Benedict , that you will see many back during the holidays. . PS : their Brunch is to "die for" . The selections are superb. The music was a surprise to our guests, that added that special touch. Thank You, Havid & Your Wonderful Staff ... We all enjoyed it Immensely. Christine & Pat read more

Cafe Benedicte is a very special place. Lobster Bisque is one of the best I've had. Steak Diane is one of those classic dishes, and Benedicte serves the best version I have had in my life. The dishes are very good for the price you pay, one of the best values for an established restaurant in the energy corridor you will find. Sometimes there is a piano player. Most importantly, the owner/manager - Vahid - is the best boss I ever had in my life. I worked as a pretty terrible waiter for him 20 years ago, and he was the most empathetic person I have ever worked for. read more

Our go-to nice neighborhood restaurant. The atmosphere and service is always good. He usually gets the pork chop. I get fish or lobster risotto. The kitchen never has a problem customizing a dish for our particular needs. I like the lentil soup is my favorite starter.it's great for family brunch in Sundays. read more

Late start Sundays and not wanting to cook, but craving Eggs Benedict led us here. We came a little after opening. While the interior was lovely and classy, the food left much to be desired. The waffle I ordered was very dry and not crispy or golden at all. Was this floppy mess just heated up in the microwave? How disappointing. It was probably the worst waffle I have ever had. I had to drown it in syrup to make it edible. The butter that was served with it was cold and hard. Boo. The side of fruit I ordered was not particularly good either. The eggs Benedict had a much better execution, but runny egg whites made an appearance, something I can't stand. Service was attentive, and the atmosphere was inviting , but the food was subpar. Probably will not return any time soon. read more

HRW office edition The restaurant anchors a strip center in the energy corridor area. I used the valet because I was in a hurry, but I think there may have been a couple spots left in the lot to self park. I went directly to the door behind the valet, but it was the service entrance (I think they use it to load their catering van). The actual door is to the left of that, perpendicular to the parking lot. Upon entering, more confusion. There is no real host stand, just a general counter area where there may or may not be someone standing. The pianist was the one who actually pointed me over there. I noticed this happening throughout the night as people continued to walk in aimlessly and wander around. There is also yet another door (that is used to get to their patio) that people used to get in the restaurant - even more awkward since it was next to the table I was seated at. I was seated promptly (by a waiter/busboy who came by the host counter) and was greeted by a number of people. I actually wasn't sure who our waiter was for some time, since at least 4 people greeted us, brought water, etc. They were all very welcoming and friendly. Décor leaned toward the Mediterranean feeling, with some turquoise walls and faux painted ceiling. I heard - since I didn't go in - that the bathroom fixtures (paper towel and tp dispensers) were hung awkwardly low on the wall, and had been moved, leaving unfinished drywall patches. Maybe they're renovating? Fresh Prince Edward Mussels (GF) in garlic butter & white wine: nicely cooked, broth was delicious. Good thing there was extra bread for sopping it up! Tempura Salmon Cake with lemon cream sauce, baby spinach & sun-dried tomatoes: surprisingly tasty with a crisp exterior and moist fish Truffle Fries (V) (GF) with truffle aioli and parmesan: decent fries, hardly any truffle flavor in the aioli Caesar Salad (V) (GF): standard Chunky Gazpacho and Avocado: very chunky, almost like salsa. In fact, it might have been better as a salsa. Seafood Platter (GF) seared chilean sea bass, sea scallops, and jumbo shrimp with saffron cream sauce: well cooked seafood, nice potatoes on the side. Also had broccoli and carrots, which were fine, but they used the pre-cut baby carrots which is weird to me. Makes it less restaurant-y I suppose. Why can't you just cut down regular carrots? Chicken Scaloppini marsala and piccata combination with capellini in garlic-herb butter: very nice sauces - especially the marsala, tender chicken, good texture on pasta Steak Diane (GF) filet mignon medallions in red wine demi-glaze with texas onions and crimini mushrooms: classic dish, done well Crème Brulée (GF): standard Chocolate Decadence a flourless fudge lava cake: super rich and fudgy Bananas Foster Crêpe the classic served in crêpe and á la mode: I didn't try this but it seemed to go over well, and was noted to be very sweet Overall the food is quite tasty and prepared well. For HRW it was also a good value with good portion sizes. It's a little out of the way for me, but I certainly wouldn't mind dining there again. The ladies also bugged the pianist to let me sing with him, which he and the owner nicely obliged to let us do when it was after 9pm LOL read more

We had dinner on a Saturday night. No wait at 6:30 but I recommend reservations, the place was nearly full. We had the lentil soup and French onion, both were excellent. Grilled salmon was cooked perfectly as ordered. Paella was great, especially the chicken! Cocktail menu was also top notch, maybe a little pricy for the pour. The restaurant is beautiful, clean, and upscale. They had live piano. Truly great. We will be back and bring friends! read more

Ambience is a 3. Plenty of room. Ceviche was good. Service meh. Server did not put in a side dish we wanted. Entrees were not good. Served old, rubbery chicken. Friend sent it back and chef came out and interrogated us rather than apologize and make good. Up late right now with some sickness. Eat at your own risk read more

I made a reservation here for 11:45 brunch, looks like they were not packed at all. The restaurant is very clean and classy, I really liked the Christmas tree and the piano and the background for the windows. It gave it a really nice warm atmosphere. I got sat immediately and our server did not seem very educated with the menu. He constantly had to check for the answers to our questions. these were just basic questions like is there a smaller version or an ala carte version of the French toast. Or is the crepe with two different kinds or do we get to choose. When we got a coffee refill, the other server didn't grab the cup, instead he refilled the cup on the table and spilled on to the table, almost hitting my boyfriend's hand. They served a plate of sliced bread with butter, citrus jam, strawberry jam and it was warm. I love the jam. I can definitely tell that these are homemade. The butter was extremely soft and this was great because I was starving at this moment. I ordered the following: Meat lovers skillet with grits Hawaiian French toast with hash browns Crepe duet The prices are pretty reasonable. I asked if the skillet had chopped potatoes or were they hash browns, and the service said it was chopped potatoes. This was incorrect. This dish was basically hash browns with bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, sausage, ham, bacon topped with 2 eggs. I was a little disappointed about the potatoes, but the flavors were surprising. I had a very nice smokey taste throughout the old dish and nice bites with vegetables and meat. The eggs were cook nicely, not overdone, and it all came out pretty quickly. This is a very hearty meal, you can get full off of this so maybe share it if you have someone who doesn't have a big appetite. We got this with grits and They were disgusting. There was no salt, basically tasted like rice porridge. 4/5 The Hawaiian French toast with hash browns I wish they added a protein to this meal. I ended up eating the skillet because it lacked that. Honestly, I definitely recommend this dish entirely. you really didn't even need syrup because it was already very sweet. The bread was extremely soft but perfectly panned fried. I liked how they put the butter on the side too. It was just really delicious. keep in mind that the hash browns are not crispy at all. You're basically getting the look of hash browns steamed. It lacked salt but thankfully they had that at the table. 5/5 The crepe duet had a nice flavor to them. The one with ham was probably my favorite because the Hollandaise sauce was in need of citrus. I think I would ask for the Hollandaise sauce on the side next time because the crepe in general with the chicken, mushrooms, spinach were perfect. The fruit or fresh and delicious. 4/5 Overall, this is a really nice place. I am wishing that next time I come back that they have a pianist. The atmosphere was very chill, great for people watching, and the food was presentable for sure. read more

I'm really feeling 2.5ish for Cafe Benedicte but being the holiday season and all, I'll lean my experience closer on the 3 side. My company chose CB for our annual Christmas luncheon. I'd never been, passed it many a times so I was excited to indulge on company dime. That parking lot situation though...man, good luck with that! Maybe it's not much of an issue on a normal day but it seemed like 2 company events were taking place and you really had not much choice but to valet. I don't know if it's free or not (wasn't worried since again *company dime*) but I would hope so considering the lot is extremely small and shared with other businesses. The service felt really rushed and the server for my particular table was short in his responses. He actually acted pretty annoyed, but I chalked it up to him perhaps feeling overwhelmed. But he never missed a beat, that much I will tell you. I asked for lemonade while he was going around taking app orders (because my coke absolutely sucked) and he said uh huh, ok and continued around the table. I was for sure thinking he would forget but he didn't! Overall though, they did an good job refilling drinks and removing finished dishes. Regarding the most important item....the food! Well hmmm it didn't suck but it was nothing to pick up a pen to begin writing home about. I ordered the crab cake for app (decent but bready and on the salty side with some olive like things), souvlaki with beef, shrimp, fish and veggies as an entree. I thought it was pretty good but the fish was not. The portion was very small and only had 3 little pieces of mini beef. I really hope that's not indicative of normal because I wouldn't pay very much for that dish. Dessert was really good and even though it's only been a week ago, I don't have one ounce of memory about what it was. I just remember it being very good... All in all...I like the atmosphere of Cafe Benedicte. I'd be willing to try it out during a normal dining experience to delve more into their menu... read more

Very excellent staff and service. Food is great and fair price! I went for brunch but I would definitely come back for dinner. The only complaint I have is their waffle batter is thick and I prefer light and fluffy but I know some people might like it that way. Great ambiance! Wonderful place for a great dining experience. The service was perfect. The Chef / Owner made his rounds and acted as a waiter often. The food we ordered was very good It started raining outside as we were leaving and the Chef / Owner was at the door. With a big umbrella walking his customers to their cars.
