Falafel - Fried chickpeas with herbs and Lebanese spices
    Lizabeth A.

My first Lebanese restaurant !! and I am VERY pleased!! I love trying new foods and my co worker highly recommended this place. I dined here with one of my girlfriends on a Saturday night around 530pm and parking was easy. Service was also exceptional, this is a family owned restaurant and our server made sure everything turned out great. He also kept refilling our waters which was really nice. The tables are small but this is a great place for a date night, girls night out dinner or literally for whenever. If your party is big I would suggest calling to make a reservation or make a reservation online. This place keeps getting better! It was BYOB!! Huge plus next time we will bring the wine! My review of the food: so tasty !! Appetizers: Falafel 3 pieces - (Fried chickpeas with herbs and Lebanese spices) Really good and would order again ! Crunchy on the outside but flavorful on the inside and it had a white dipping sauce which was good but I loved the orange sauce that came with the Sfiha. Sfiha 2 pieces - (Baked homemade dough, stuffed with ground lamb, chopped tomato and onions) Wow! The flavor on these were amazing! Soo much flavor and lamb was so tender! The backed homemade dough made to perfection- it was like a little pillow doe the lamb! Definitely going back to just for these! For dinner we both ordered the Red Platter I ordered the beef and my girlfriend ordered the lamb ! Both were amazing!! The flavor on both of them! Sooo good !! They both came with Tabbouleh salad which was so FRESH!! I could have a whole bowl of this! We had a choice of either hummus or baba ghanoush and again both were amazing ! Both were creamy and it came in a little side dipping dish it was just right, not too much and not too little. I can't wait to tell my family and friends about this place I wish I took more pictures of the place because it has that home feel which I love. Being a family owned restaurant that's what you want. Expect me to be coming here for lunch and dinner!

Have been looking for a decent Lebanese food place in this area for a while and hadn't really come across anything until having lunch today at cafe baladi. Really great service and just excellent homemade food. You can tell that much time and consideration goes into each item we tried for lunch. We had the one of the appetizer combos with kibbeh, hummus, baba ghanoush, and garlic labneh. The kibbeh was hot and flavorful, the dips really nice and full of flavor. Even the homemade pita chips they served with it were tasty. Also had the chicken schwarma which was really good. The chicken was so tender and clearly slowly cooked and full of flavor. Had to try the dessert so we had the homemade hazelnut ice cream and baklava, along with the Arab coffee. Just a really great meal we'll be coming back for sure

Cafe Baladi is simply the best! As a repeat customer, I can confidently say their Lebanese cuisine is consistently delicious and boasts an authentic taste that transports me with every bite. I come at least once a week, sometimes three times. The prompt service always impresses, making it a truly enjoyable experience. The team at Cafe Baladi always makes you feel so welcome. I'm always comfortable here, either reading a book or just spacing out. I enjoy the ambiance and the music is always amazing. The lentil soup is a personal favorite, and it's always a pleasure to dine in their inviting atmosphere. I always have lovely conversations with Minadia, Ray is always helpful, and the kids help out sometimes! For a truly fine Lebanese meal, Cafe Baladi is the place to go.

Lovely family-run spot with excellent Mediterranean cuisine, friendly service and wonderful atmosphere. We tried the yellow platter, shish tawook and hummus with beef (which was really good). Delectable!!

Since my first time here, I have been back several times and they have not missed. I think it's impossible to eat here and not have a dish packed with flavor. I ordered takeout here last week on a rainy day and saw a special on their menu called "Loubieh bi Ziet" which was described as a green bean and tomato like stew with a touch of cinnamon. Oh my goodness. I had chicken added to this since they asked me if I'd like any meat added to it. I believe it's traditionally served with pita for dipping, however I ordered mine with rice to mix in. It was for sure the consistency of a stew so pita would be excellent. This was one of the most delicious things I've ever tasted. I wish this was a regular menu item because I'm so hooked. It had a perfect mix of savory, spice, and the kiss of cinnamon was just the cherry on top. I did not want this dish to end. Service is always friendly here and they've remodeled a bit which makes the experience to dine in very elegant but cozy at the same time. Haven't had one disappointing experience here!

Falafels, pita, hummus (classic and roasted red pepper), and tabouleh was good!! Service was really quick and forgiving for the kids being a little destructive. Ambiance was very homey and nice!

My daughter and I ate at Cafe Baladi last weekend, purely on a whim, as we'd been to the nearby PennDot Driver Licensing Center (DMV). We really like Middle Eastern cuisine so I checked out the YELP reviews and in we went! (PS. Laithe, you were right!) Great Decision! Cafe Baladi is a small, friendly, welcoming family-run restaurant. The menu has a nice array of appetizers and shawarma entrees, among other things to choose from on its menu (SEE menu Photos!) We were immediately welcomed by, as we later discovered, the lovely wife of the Chef/Owner, Imad. We ordered a small set of dual appetizers: lamb meat and veggies in a pastry shell. (SEE photo) with a delicious sauce. Our entries were a shawarma chicken wrap with fries (my daughter ordered) and a lamb shawarma entree with a delicious side salad. The food was delicious and the young son of the owners also waited on us/refilled our waters, and he was very friendly and came by our table several times to see if we needed anything. All-in-all this was a great find and not only do I give it 5 stars BUT I also give the chef/owner Imad a huge Thank You and kudos for responding to my later vm when I thought I might have accidentally left some important papers for/from the DMV in his restaurant. Thanks Cafe Baladi!!!!

This place would be easy to drive right by in this busy plaza, but the food is too good to miss! Beef tahini salad was chopped up and made right behind the counter and was very fresh. The sfihas were AMAZING!! So much flavor! You can tell everything is made by their family with love.

    Cafe Baladi -- app sampler

I had great expectations based on their Yelp ratings. Unfortunately, I'm increasingly relying on Google reviews because Yelp has grown more and more inaccurate. First the staff was EXTREMELY kind and friendly, which makes it harder to be frank about the food, but I appreciate honesty above all, so here goes... Read raves about the app sampler... it was $11 for three sauce cups of hummus / pepper hummus / baba ganoush, pita chips, and two little meatballs with yogurt sauce. Everything was good, except the regular hummus. It tasted canned and had a processed aftertaste. Again, the rest was definitely tasty, but sauce cup size is just not much for $11. I guess I'm not yet caught up with inflation. The "yellow plate" chicken schwarma platter was okay. It's a few dollars more than Fattoush across the street. I've been to Fattoush dozens of times and yes, I was directly comparing the two. I get chicken schwarma there all the time and IMO theirs is excellent. Baladi has more spice, definitely more curry, and something else in there I can't name, it was a little nutmeggy-gingery, or something I just flat out never met, but it was interesting and fine with me for taste. My complaint is that I get rice at Fattoush and fries at Baladi. When I'm getting a Mediterranean dish, I prefer traditional rice. Yeah I get it that they eat fries around the world these days, but I prefer traditional components in my Mediterranean food because it's healthier and closer to the origin of how the dish was meant to taste. Also, the fries have an Old Bay or paprika seasoning which I don't like. Portionwise, I get more chicken at Fattoush, however I do find fat in theirs sometimes and the Baladi chicken was very clean. The salads are good at both places, but Fattoush has a micro salad--not micro greens, but like cut up very finely--and I can easily add some to a bite of my schwarma to get rounded flavor. The bulky leafy salad at Baladi has to be its own bite unless I kind of dump my chicken in it, I guess. The food was overall tasty, but fries over rice isn't my preference, portions weren't what I was expecting, and value for the money isn't as good as Fattoush.

Picked up the thin pita too.

I spent every summer in this town, growing up, and I never discovered this restaurant until a precious friend brought me here a few years ago. It's a dated, though efficient, and charming, cafe with fresh dishes you might love. Firstly, if you plan on having lunch here on a Monday, make sure you are able to finish by 2:45 since they close by 3pm. All other days, they are open past 8pm. We started with the sweet potato soup despite the fact that the reviews for the lentil soup here are the highest. Yes! If it's featured: get it! The turmeric and coconut milk make this soup delightful. The herbs made it so fresh and there was just the right amount of sweetness and gentle heat. Parsley really adds to this recipe and I'm not usually a fan of this herb. The pitas are soft, thin and light. Love them. We needed to order more. I've never had such paper-thin pitas. Yum! I love love love the hummus, here. It is nothing short of divine. The flavors are fabulous and deeply complex. You can really taste the tahini. The olive oil is mild and delicious. I exclaimed, "the hummus was the best ever." And then 5 minutes later, I read a review by Yelper James H. where he says it's the best ever and, "... this hummus at Cedars of Lebanon might have ruined all other hummus for me forever." While I've had similar swooning feelings over the hummus at Lebanese Taverna in Tyson's Corner, this hummus is at least a top contender if not the metro DC area's hummus winner. The cucumber mint yogurt salad is nice, cold and refreshing. You can really taste the mint. I would order this yogurt salad with every meal. The falafel pizza is unusual and fresh. Straight away-- you can taste the tahini, parsley and couscous. The dough is grainy and natural. And there are radishes on this falafel pizza: not overpowering. For the $9 or so pricepoint, this dish is a true labor of love. To prep all of these vegetables, even with food processors, must take time. How novel of a dish! Put the yogurt salad on this pizza. You will thank me. And I only did it because I was watching someone else slather it on. There were at least 12 desserts on the menu. Meow. If we weren't so full of pita, hummus, tahini and fresh veggies, we certainly would love to taste a few of these. As well as the Turkish coffee, with an authentic ceramic and metal carafé presentation.

The restaurant has a small outdoor dining area with three four-seater tables, which was find for our two dogs. The experience overall was pretty low key, which necessarily is not a bad thing. Although there is waiter/waitress service, you will have to order your food at the cashier's counter. Actually, maybe that's only a thing if you are dining outside. The menu has a nice mix of Middle Eastern dishes. I went with a beef (or maybe it was lamb) kabob plate. The portions were fine and my meal was pretty good. It was not out of this world amazing, but it got the job done. I thought that the prices were pretty good for the area and the amount of food received. Although the food was fine, I do not think that I would go out of my way (e.g., driving more than 30 minutes) to dine here. Just be aware that the restaurant does not serve alcoholic beverages.
