We visited this restaurant for lunch located in Exton within a small strip mall. As we entered the restaurant the decor was fantastic, and it brings the memories of India. One of the best interior decorations we have seen in an Indian restaurant. The statues, paintings on the wall, the woodwork, the minor details and everything was perfectly done. The gentle melodies played inside the restaurant is great. We were greeted and seated and provided the menu. The staff is friendly and very welcoming. The Menu is great with lot of authentic collections and also with some fusion to cater all taste buds. We ordered Kollu Rasam for appetizer, Vegetable biryani and then Lunch Thali. First came lunch Thali with steaming hot, it contained Appalam crispy, Avarakai poriyal tasted fantastic, Kootu delicious, Sambar was very authentic, Rasam tasted delicious, Gulab jamun was tasty. the winner was the Kolambu and tasted delicious went multiple rounds with that one. Overall, the Lunch thali was fantastic, and we ended up ordering two for take-out. Kollu Rasam was tasty but lacked flavor of the Kollu the horse gram, but it was okay. Vegetable biryani is not Dum style this is south Indian variety and tasted fantastic. One of the best closer to South Indian style biryani I has in a while. This place is definitely worth it give it a try!!

    Special tiffin combo

Adyar Cafe is a very different kind of Indian restaurant. Although you can order dishes often found in Indian restaurants in America, go there for their authentic South Indian food. The pongal, vadais, dosais, sambhar and chutneys were exceptionally tasty. We also enjoyed their chickoo milk shake and paan ice cream. Although we didn't try theem, their extensive menu also has Indian Chinese food as well as unusual fusion dishes like curry leaf pasta. We will definitely go back.

Their prices are very reasonable and the food is absolutely delicious, ESPECIALLY their goat roast biryani. It was incredible! Rice was perfectly cooked, wonderfully spiced, and the portion of goat meat was generous and the meat was tender, fresh and flavorful. Their masala chai is also excellent. Great balance of a full flavored black tea that was very creamy and well spiced. We also tried the bitter chicken and the goat curry. Both were amazing. The butter chicken was rich, thick, and flavorful. The goat curry was perfect! Meat was tender, again great portion size of meat, and the curry itself was wonderfully spiced. You have the option of choosing your spice level - we chose spicy, and it was a good spice level for us since we do like spicy food. The dining area is bright and cheery and they have Tamil and Telegu movies playing on the screens. The girls at the front are just so kind. We were greeted right away and they chatted with us while we waited for our order. They really were so sweet and were able to give us recommendations on what to order and knew their menu so well. There is a spacious parking lot and plenty of handicap accessible spaces right near the restaurant which was helpful. Overall we had an excellent experience at Southern Spice. Great food, very fair prices, cooked well and authentic flavors. And I really cannot say enough about the hostess and waitress. Honestly some of the best service I have ever had. Will absolutely be back!

Plates wveryrhing make you feel a great experience. As we went through the menu, which is not robust but has a lot of options and you can see its south Indian style. We decided to order curry leaf chicken for appetizer, Special Andhra goat curry, chicken dum biryani, and garlic Naan. There were 5 other tables occupied at that time. The food started coming at a reasonable time. Curry leaf chicken didn't impress us at all. It was basically breaded chicken that would be used for chili chicken or Manchurian. Instead, they were topped with some curry leaves. Stay away from this dish The special goat curry, it was okay but nothing special about it. The meat was very tender and nicely cooked. The curry is just standard onions, tomato sauce with more red chili powder. I will not recommend this as well. To mix it with rice, it tasted good. The garlic Naan was perfect, but little on the greasier side, but went well with the goat curry. The dum biryani was probably the better one, and the chicken was cooked to perfection. The rice was a little dry but manageable. This restaurant has the potential to become a major player in the area but needs minor tweaking and focus on the recipes. Will definitely try one more time.
