It came pretty hot (temperature wise) with too much sauce - too much that made it look like a noodle soup.... Luckily it tastes good, not too spicy. Each of us had a lunch special - pork in garlic sauce with hot & sour soup. The soup was pretty spicy - more spicy than the Dan Dan Noodle. The pork dish was very tasty - actually too much sauce on it. But good taste. Another lunch special is beef with scallion with egg roll. The beef dish is great. And the egg roll was fresh!

Tons of cheap Chinese American dishes like found in most corner take out shops, plus for dinner the addition of a few higher end items like steamed crayfish, shrimp, crab and fresh fish fillets in various spicy or sweet/sour sauces. These last ones are only available after the lunch service is over and the crowd rushes in for supper. Very large dining room accommodates several hundred people at once, and the buy in is only $13.99 for lunch and $18.99 for dinner. Price is right. Beyond all that, there is also more traditional American fare like chicken wings and fries for the cuisine challenged. Too, plenty of sushi and desserts from jello to cheesecake, not to mention a chocolate fountain when it is working. Problem is that almost everything is cool when eaten from sitting around on the serving tables so long, and the quality of the kitchen is about the same as found in most corner Chinois Americano houses; which is to say, mediocre at best. However, if you focus on the seafood and shellfish, you may feel satisfied. I saw many people with plate fulls of crab and cray or shrimp, up to their elbows in breaking shells and sucking out the meat with abandon. Those folks really got their money's worth. The rest of us, well, it was a closer proposition. In fact the bar of the same namesake right next door is actually twice as large as the restaurant. The place is done up to be slightly upscale in terms of decorations and table settings. As for the food, we were there on a Friday night and it turns out they have a buffet on Fridays. It smelled good and the price was right so we opted for it. For starters they had mixed greens salad which was fresh and delicious, a mozzarella salad, breads and chilled shrimp. The chilled shrimp where the medium-small size and they had a really off/chlorine taste to them. Fortunately I only took a few of the shrimp. For entrees they had a cook to order station with choice of pasta, toppings and sauces. They also had a chicken dish, tilapia in a butter cream sauce and prime rib. The sides were mashed potatoes, squash and a few other typical sides. The pasta was so-so. The chicken was the same. The big stars of the night were the tilapia, the prime rib and the mashed potatoes as all were delicious. My wife even commented that the tilapia and the mashed potatoes were amazing. The desserts were in a word, horrible. It was painfully obvious from just looking at them that they were the mass manufactured type (you know, the kind that taste like Little Debbie) and not at all fresh. We sampled a few between my wife and I but were disappointed by it all. The service was half decent and friendly, though not exceptional. Our server was MIA at various times which for how small the dining area is and how empty it was when we were there is a bit ridiculous. Another strike was that the first wine glass I was given had obvious lip marks on it. YUCK! This is a fairly benign place that I think wishes it was more than it is but just doesn't have the tools to quite get there. I would really be curious as to what items from their regular menu taste like but I doubt we'll bother going back just to see.
