Followed our nose and discovered Nalan Cuisine! Seriously! It smells wonderful walking up to it. We arrived fairly early, around 5:00 pm on a Friday evening. Had to do a bit of shopping before heading out to where we THOUGHT we were going until the enticing aroma emanating from this little restaurant tucked away in the corner beckoned us in. Greeted by a courteous staff member and seated right away. Great first impression, nice modern ambiance and clean restaurant. Ordered our go to simple selection for trying Indian cuisine. Veg Samosa, butter chicken as well as Chicken tikka masala. Garlic and basil naan with dill dip. Yum! Spot on with spices, tender chicken. Fluffy basmati rice! Service was friendly and impeccable. I'm a regular here because my son loves their food--I order at least once a week. But they keep messing up my order. It's happened enough times that I now reconfirm everything when I put my order, and somehow it still feels like they don't care. It's so frustrating to get home and realize something's missing. Went to this place with my friends for dinner. We were greeted and seated as per our needs. While they presented the menu, I was informed about the weekend specials. It was a full packed restaurant on a Friday evening. We ordered appetizers for vegetarian, and we ordered anarkali paneer Tikka, Karam Podi Gobi. For non-veg appetizers, we ordered fish fry, and the fish fry was a weekend special , we also ordered chettinad pepper chicken. With the crowd the time they took to get the orders to us was amazing. The food was served with the right temperature and Ambience of the restaurant was beautiful. The appetizers tasted delicious especially the car company Gobi was fantastic. Our non-vegetarian fish fry was cooked to perfection. Then we are ordered egg dum biryani and weekend special ambur chicken biryani. Ambur chicken biryani was more spicy and salty. Overall, it was good, but I would have expected the test to be great. That egg dum biryani was good. Overall, we enjoyed the visit and would definitely try the appetizers again. Spectacular Indian food in Downingtown!!! Restaurant was spacious, classy and clean. Service was great and the food was absolutely delicious! Food was fresh, excellent seasoned with excellent portion sizes. Current menu had excellent choices and I was informed will be growing. The staff were extremely kind and attentive. I saw quite a few take out orders but if looking for a nice place to have dinner I would highly recommend dining in. Have found my new favorite Indian place! The food here isn't the issue. It's the service. Ordered take out for a set pickup time hours 3 hours before pick up. Got to the restaurant at pick up time and it was not ready. It is presently 30 minutes after we're supposed to pick up and it's still not ready. No word of apology from the staff. No offer to make it right. There are plenty of good Indian restaurants around to have to deal with this type of inconvenience. read more

From this order, my favorite was probably the tikka masala and lamb saag. These two dishes were particularly layered with complex flavors that left me wishing I had a bigger appetite to eat more! I had really hoped for their food to be good but found it to be very mediocre, will not repeat. I have tried their gobhi 65 which is okay, paneer tikka masala which is sweet, garlic naan which is good and Paneer biryani which is okay again. Maybe it's jus my palate but I would rather prefer House of biryanis & Kebabs (HOBK) in Malvern than this restaurant. For the other people in my group it wasn't as much of an issue, but just a warning. The flavors though were really good. I came for dinner and was seated in one corner right next stacked-up high-chairs for babies even though the restaurant was near empty. I ordered Saag Paneer (w/o paneer) with Garlic Naan. I specifically requested that they make the Saag Paneer 8/10 spicy. Shortly after the food came and it turned out that the cook had forgotten to make the dish spicy. No worries. Things happen. I notified the waiter of the problem. They took the dish back to the kitchen and sprinkled the dish with some red chilly flakes instead of redoing/re-cooking the dish with chili. By the time they brought the dish back my garlic naan had gotten cold. I requested if they would make/bring another naan. They took the cold naan from the table and re-heated it. This made the naan hard and dry. The right thing would have been for the restaurant to have made another naan and trashed the cold naan. While we're at it, let me also mention the quality of the food. The saag paneer I ordered had absolutely no taste whatsoever. The only discernible taste was of the "cream" that was put on top to make the dish visually appealing. Saag paneer is my go to dish at most Indian restaurants and I can say that Nalan's Saag Paneer would be on the bottom of my list. Let's talk garlic naan. It was thin like roti and did not have naan consistency. All in all, it was not a good experience dining at Nalan Cuisine. The food taste was below mediocre (2/10). Also, they don't to make things right when they get it wrong. I would not recommend Nalan Cuisine to anyone looking for Indian food. read more

Excellent BYOB Indian with probably the best Indian food I have had Stateside. I hail from the UK where our national dish is Chicken Tikka Masala and I love Indian cuisine, so this is a real find. We noticed this restaurant as we drove past on the way to another store in the shopping center. So we made a reservation to come for dinner on the Friday after Thanksgiving. There were four of us: two crotchety old folks, me and my wife, and a couple of younger ones, my son and his wife. The ambience was good. The service was excellent: servers were very attentive to see if we needed anything else. But the food! The food was excellent...every single bit. We had saag paneer, lamb tikka masala, and some appetizers and sides. Oh yes, and a gigantic dosa. Because of some dietary issues we had to order our food with mild heat. It had just the amount of bite to it. Perfect! Even though this place is a good bit further than our other favorite restaurants, we will come back and we will come back again, because Indian is our favorite food and this Indian food is fantastic. read more

Tried the food here this weekend and absolutely loved it! I had Samosa, Kodi Vepudu, Masala Fried Fish and Special Goat Fry Biryani. All the dishes were delicious. They made it very spicy as per our request. My favorite was Kodi Vepudu. It had succulent meat and spiced very well to our taste. Biryani was flavorful and meat was well cooked.
