We were looking for another food group out near the Mann Pavilon (outdoor concerts) and came upon…read moreSrinagar. We had been to Narberth once 2 years ago to walk and explore but didn't see this restaurant on that trip. Tried it last night, 8/7/26, for the first time and it checks so many boxes. First off, they were super attentative and polite when we called to make our reservation and our call from the car to inform of a traffic delay. The place is clean, except unfortunately since they do a lot of take out as we had observed, lots a flies get in and buzz around (exterminated 4 at our table during the course of our dining experience.) But don't let that dissuade you. They have a large menu, and customize levels to fit eveyone's taste. When trying new Indian restaurants we usually start off with basic dishes to get a feel from their cooking style. We shared two dishes: llamb rogan jost medium spice and chicken tikka masala aslo medium spice and an order of garlic naan (well 2 orders as we needed more and took some home... it was that good). Both dishes were exactly as expected and both for the most part were tender and moist. Lamb can sometimes be chewy. We loved our choices and dunked away into the sauces with the naan. Street meter parking and they are BYOB. We have booked marked Srinagar for a future pre-concert dinner in the area of the Mann Pavilon. See my food photos

Rather than gobi manchurian (consistently wonderful here) we opened with vegetable samosas. Served with condiments, the pastries are excellent, the way samosas should be. Last time I noticed a family eating what looked like spaghetti. I'd never seen pasta in an Indian restaurant, so of course I inquired. They assured me that the dish -- hakka noodles -- was worth trying. So we did, with shrimp, ordered medium on the spice scale. I'm adding this to my repertoire! I suggested that T choose a second entree, hoping he'd go with my tandoor favorite, chicken tikka. Nope, chicken korma. This is where Srinagar loses half a point. The sauce is excellent. It always is. But the cubes of chicken were dry. (Tikka -- NOT masala -- never is.) 6:00 on Friday, prime time for dinner, people straggled in. While they take reservations, you likely don't need them. Where they make their money is with takeout. A steady stream of customers picking up their called-in orders. I always enjoy Srinagar. Good prices, nothing fancy, responsive service AND (what I like in Philadelphia) BYOB.

Stopped here while we were in the area for a work weekend…read more We checked in at 9:30, and with the hours online saying open until 10:30 I figured we were good to go. We were sat as a party of 5 and were told very firmly that the kitchen closed at 10. So we figured it out quickly. Then we waited and waited for the waitress to come back. I gave chase around the corner and at 9:55 finally got her to come over to order. As we were ordering, the waitress cut my bud Vog off telling him to hurry. Insane. Then one in our party had to make a call but left us his order to put in - they didn't have any of it. Then she didn't write any of our order down -- 5 people. I ordered the butter chicken mild, which comes with rice. I added garlic naan and cheese naan as well. When the food came out it was solid - I'll give them that. Naan was good -- BUT THEY FORGOT THE CHEESE NAAN I ORDERED. Would have been nice to write that down ??? If this was take out - it would probably be 3.5-4 stars but the horrible attitude, the pushiness when ordering, and the you don't belong her feeling we were given is inexcusable.

But today is Tuesday, friends, and fortune smiled upon me. We had an Indian FEAST tonight and it's some of the best Indian food I've ever had (and we love it in this house). We got samosas (my favorite Indian snack) with a zippy lil mint chutney that was absolutely slammin'. There was Karampodi Chicken: flavorful, spicy, and deeeeee-licious. There was garlic naan, soft and wonderfully garlicky, and a light, crispy masala dosa served with chutney and sambar that was absolutely to die for. The chicken tikka was rich and spicy, and the Andrha Shrimp Curry was incredible. Delicious and SPICY. We got takeout so I can't comment on the atmosphere of the restaurant or service, but the food is an absolute home run.

HOWEVER I thought they did a stellar job with sauce, which is what brought us back. I went with my second favorite dish, chicken korma. The sauce was great, the chicken a bit dry. Deviating from his usual vindaloo, T lived in the fast lane (ha!) and ordered lamb roganjosh. The sauce was excellent, described in the menu as "yogurt, onions, ginger and garlic in a traditional curry" but there's the unmistakable addition of cinnamon. And it works! Our appetizer, tangy eggplant, was crisp and spicy with a portion large enough to feed four as a starter. What made the evening notable were four delightful octogenarians seated next to us. I was tasked with the awesome responsibility of guiding them through the menu. My recommendations luckily were well received. The restaurant was practically empty Saturday evening. "I guess the waitress is too busy to come over," one of our new friends said sarcastically. Which brings me to the help. Our server, the same person we had last time, is noticeably timid, hesitant to effectively interact with her customers. The neighboring table agreed and continued to wait patiently. Nirvana is still considered a byob, though they may actually serve alcohol. In any case, they now impose a $10 corkage fee, when before they charged nothing.

But if you are starving or are going somewhere else after dinner, this is not your place. It took forever for the ONE waitress to take our order. Never refilled water glasses. And then we were told we couldn't buy wine by the glass, you had to buy the whole bottle. After the website said we would be charged a corking fee if we brought our own wine. I would do take out. But probably not go back to eat inside.
