This is an excellent local alternative to the Tiffin franchise on the Main Line. The food is here, imo, is way better than Tiffin's. Ive tried their Paneer Korma and it's exquisite, I think heartier than Tiffin's tbh. It's a small shop, located in a rather overlooked section of Narberth as far as I'm concerned, so there isn't a ton of space but it's very chill and the staff is friendly. Definitely recommend trying Srinagar if you're looking for some different Indian food in the area. read more

We were looking for another food group out near the Mann Pavilon (outdoor concerts) and came upon Srinagar. We had been to Narberth once 2 years ago to walk and explore but didn't see this restaurant on that trip. Tried it last night, 8/7/26, for the first time and it checks so many boxes. First off, they were super attentative and polite when we called to make our reservation and our call from the car to inform of a traffic delay. The place is clean, except unfortunately since they do a lot of take out as we had observed, lots a flies get in and buzz around (exterminated 4 at our table during the course of our dining experience.) But don't let that dissuade you. They have a large menu, and customize levels to fit eveyone's taste. When trying new Indian restaurants we usually start off with basic dishes to get a feel from their cooking style. We shared two dishes: llamb rogan jost medium spice and chicken tikka masala aslo medium spice and an order of garlic naan (well 2 orders as we needed more and took some home... it was that good). Both dishes were exactly as expected and both for the most part were tender and moist. Lamb can sometimes be chewy. We loved our choices and dunked away into the sauces with the naan. When I return to a restaurant it's generally to duplicate dishes I know and love. Last night we chose to "live in the fast lane" -- eh, not really -- and mix things up. Rather than gobi manchurian (consistently wonderful here) we opened with vegetable samosas. Served with condiments, the pastries are excellent, the way samosas should be. Last time I noticed a family eating what looked like spaghetti. I'd never seen pasta in an Indian restaurant, so of course I inquired. They assured me that the dish -- hakka noodles -- was worth trying. So we did, with shrimp, ordered medium on the spice scale. I'm adding this to my repertoire! I suggested that T choose a second entree, hoping he'd go with my tandoor favorite, chicken tikka. Nope, chicken korma. This is where Srinagar loses half a point. The sauce is excellent. It always is. But the cubes of chicken were dry. (Tikka -- NOT masala -- never is.) 6:00 on Friday, prime time for dinner, people straggled in. While they take reservations, you likely don't need them. Where they make their money is with takeout. A steady stream of customers picking up their called-in orders. I always enjoy Srinagar. Visited on a fluke because Malooga didn't have any table seats available for dinner and we pivoted to here. And what a pivot it was! Service was pretty brief, but helpful, and we were able to order and get our food fairly quickly! The order for four: - Chicken tikka masala-- the benchmark. - Lamb vindaloo-- the craving. - Vegetable korma-- veggies to balance things out. - Cheese and peshawari naan. - Two mango lassis. Flavors are on-point here! Portions seemed a bit small, but we were definitely completely stuffed by the time we were through, and we cleaned off everything, including the leftover sauce on the bottoms of our bowls with our naan. Peshawari naan was a pleasant surprise! Good sweet and slightly nutty flavor complemented a lot of the dishes that we got. Meat is tender and they are pretty generous with the quantities of meat compared to other Indian places I've visited in the past. Mango lassis were also decent-- nothing to wow about, but solid, and a good way to finish off the meal after all the flavor bombing from the other dishes. Great dinner and service was even better honestly. Staff was super friendly and accommodating, they gave good recommendations for vegan options. The vegetable pakora was really good, crispy and not greasy with a nice mix of veggies. Chana masala was tasty, good texture and spice with a nice kick. Aloo Gobi was fine but not my favorite. Hands down, this is one of the two best Indian restaurants I've ever had the pleasure of dining at! (the other being the Michelin-starred Veeraswamy in London) The dishes were the timeless classics you expect, but each came with its own thoughtful twist that made them feel completely new. The sauces that accompanied our butter chicken, chicken korma, and samosas were layered, complex, and unlike anything I've had before. The staff expertly guided us on spice levels, and the service throughout the meal was excellent. From the outside the restaurant may seem unassuming, but don't let that fool you. This place is more than worth the visit, and I'll be returning very soon. read more

We were able to snag a rare table because we were a large patron party .... and live is better! Fine service and great Indian dishes including some stuffed naan varieties we'd never tried. Friday night I met Meredith R. and Theron for a Yelp doubleheader - Indian dinner at Srinagar and dessert at Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream as part of an Elite Event. They are right around the corner from each other, so park once, eat twice! Srinagar is a very small house with about ten tables packed into the petit dining room. Reservations recommended as it fills up fast. Service is friendly and responsive, and the cuisine is solid if not spectacular. We ordered for ourselves and agreed to sample everything on the table. I appreciated the red wine my new friends brought with them. I ordered vegetarian oriented Jeera Aloo (lightly spiced roast potatoes), Bhindi Masala (Okra), and Garlic Naan. Gobi Manchurian (cauliflower), Chicken Tikka and a spicy Lamb Masala went to the other side of the table. I found everything quite good, but nothing exceptional. My Jeera Aloo was a bit plain on the buds, and more a roasted potato my Polish grandmother would serve. The Bhindi was tasty and texturous with the flavor of okra predominating. Liked it. The naan seemed garlic free. Disappointing. My friends' Gobi was very nice with beautiful red amber coat and taste of the mountains. Both the chicken and lamb were pleasant traditional preparations with well established tandoori grill and mild Indian spiced sauces. Good choices. Our conversation was the main thing I came for, and as a result I focused more on friends than food. Still I remained sufficiently alert to note what we were eating. It was all well worth my first visit to Narberth, the lovely borough completely surrounded by Lower Merion. Jeni's was a three minute walk on the now darkened rainy streets. read more

We have been on the hunt for the best Indian food around and we may have found it. We came here on a Wednesday around 5:30 and folks were coming in for pickup but there was plenty of seating for dine in despite being a fairly small quiet place. The host was extremely friendly and helpful for us as we attempted to dine with our 11 month old and dog in the outdoor seating area. We started with the Samosa chaat and Papri chaat and when they arrived we realized we had ordered far too much food. Both were delicious. The Samosa was served hot and the papri was served cold and both were delicious. You probably only need to order one or the other. Our Sag paneer was divine and got two thumbs up from baby as well. The Garlic naan complimented it perfectly. We wound up taking a ton of food home and I wish we had brought some of our own containers. This is the spot to get Indian food. I have eaten several times in this hidden gem of a restaurant, and I am never disappointed. The food quality is consistently high, with everything served fresh and piping hot. From the number of customers I have seen during my visits, I can tell I am not alone when I say what an excellent restaurant Srinagar is. One caveat; the restaurant is rather cold in the winter months. I have been keeping my coat on when I visit! This small inconvenience is worth it to enjoy the food, which is incredible. read more

The service is very good. The ladies waiting on us were attentive, prompt and knowledgeable about their food and menu. We both had samosas, garlic naan and biriyani. It was plenty of food to fill you up and grab a take home box. They also have outdoor seating for those nice nights outside or for overflow from the inside. There wasn't many people eating in the restaurant the Sunday evening we went. There was a steady flow of folks coming for takeout though. My husband is a vegetarian and he thoroughly enjoyed his food. I recommend checking them out if you're vegetarian and/or if you enjoy Indian cuisine. read more

Located 1/2 block off the main drag in Narberth, it's a tidy shop with indoor and outdoor tables, and bustling this particular Eve. While we ordered traditionally family favorites as far as Indian fare, absolutely found it top notch. The veggie samosas are delicious with requisite green chutney of mint and cilantro and a brown tamarind sweet and sour sauce. The deeply rich colored chicken vindaloo ordered xtra spicy, stands out even though vindaloo is ubiquitous. Likewise, the "medium" spicy chicken tikka was loved by the teen, also advocating for this being the best he's had. The pickup was easy. read more

Small Indian restaurant that serves great food! They are attentive about keeping your waters full and their dishes can be quite spicy; so to be safe, go with medium spice at most when you try their food for the first time. This place is also BYOB if that interests you. The lamb isn't too gamey as I tried the lamb vindaloo and lamb sagaar (which I personally preferred of the two). I also got their special chicken which you can't go wrong with. And obviously could not not order naan. I got the garlic and onion. I liked the onion better as it had a more pronounced flavor that complemented every dish. The dishes were served with rice and they are happy to give you more if you need it. My kids and I just tried this place for dinner tonight. The food was okay. I am black and my kids are biracial. The male waiter was kind, but then the woman who worked there was really overbearingly pushy about getting my payment as if I would run out with 2 kids without paying. She did NOT treat her white patrons this way at all. She rushed up as we were packing our leftovers and asked if we were splitting the bill (who splits a dining bill with children?). Then she gave me the ipad etc to pay and firmly stood over our shoulder while I decided the tip etc (not cool). My daughter asked her for a bag for our leftovers and she still stood over us like a hawk. She directed someone else to get us a bag. I love this restaurant. I have not had better Indian cuisine outside of my friend's homes or at weddings. The naan, biryani, and especially the tikka masala is consistently good. I also appreciate that if you ask for something to be spicy, you get just that with no excuses. I'd say they lean on the spicier side compared to other local Indian places so while I often get medium at other restaurants, here I often ask for between mild and medium. Their takeout business seems to be going gangbusters. In the restaurant, there were four parties sat on a Thursday night, including us. This is not by any means just a run of the mill Indian joint. The food was so good, I swooned. Like, I think my eyes actually rolled back in my head. It tastes like your grandma (if your grandma is Indian) cooked for you.
