How beautiful is this cafe! Newly opened Cafe Auburndale is conveniently located literally couple of blocks from my house, I am very happy. The amount of detail put in to the interior design.. I am impressed more and more each visit. The ambiance is warm and bright, it is a great place to bring your friends and family for after dinner dessert. From coffee to bingsoo, it has quite a selection. We spent about $40 on dessert and I stumbled upon their cheesecake which was amazing! I know where to go for my cheesecake craving. While sitting by the window table, I was able to see that the Honey-Lemon Tea was very popular. Came to Cafe Auburndale a few times during the spring/summer season and found it to be way too cold - they blast the AC so high that you def need to wear a sweater.. maybe even a scarf and beanie hahah. Had to take a few breaks outside in the warm weather to thaw myself. They have a chill outdoor area in the back of the cafe to do work as well. Coming here to socialize during the cooler months though - perfect indoor temperature. I love Cafe Auburndale's wooden interior design, giving off a hip modern vibe. They provide free wifi, a clean bathroom, bright lighting, a variety of differently sized tables and seats, and an awesome acoustic playlist (thanks to SiriusXM The Coffee House). There are outlets placed near certain seating areas. There are also wall hooks to hook your bags/jackets on in the front area of the cafe. I've tried the following so far (missing some other drinks): Matcha latte ($4.50) - extra sweet, but I have a sweet tooth Chai latte ($4.50) - light chai flavor, foamy Hawaiian latte ($4.50) - light coconut flavor, tastes like a regular latte with a fancy name haha Fresh mango smoothie ($6) Iced green tea ($3.75) Danishes ($3.50) Recommend them all (except maybe Hawaiian latte haha). The desserts (from the two I've tried so far) are tasty and super generous. I also like that they offer non-basic flavors. Can't say too much about the service because it's one of those cafes where you order and you pick up and sit down yourself, which is totally my vibe because it means I have to talk less. The one thing that doesn't sit well with me is the loudness. The ice machine is quite loud, so the people in the place talk louder over that and, overall, it be loud. Been wanting to try their matcha bingsu after coming across some of the pictures awhile back. Came with a group of friends and ordered the matcha bingsu, lava cake, and a dalgona affogato. Overall, the consensus was "it's ok"/average. Matcha bingsu - 4/5 - A bit pricey but good to share with 2 or 3 people. Lava cake - Friend got this and was a little disappointed that there wasn't any "lava" when the cake was cut, just sort of a regular chocolate cake with solid-ish filling. Dalgona affogato - Friends got this weren't too impressed with the flavor or item overall The interior was quite nice and there was lots of seating. The staff was quick and the orders came out in a timely manner (they have the portable buzzers). The space was quite filled even an hour before closing. However, one thing that irked our group quite a bit was the music being played were extremely loud and almost vibrated our seats. Finally made my family bring me to this place BEFORE dinner so we can enjoy it to the fullest extent and boy did we enjoy. The Oreo bingsoo was ginormous and so good. It's shaved ice cream not ice and my daughter actually liked it. She ate all the Oreo cookies and did not share and of course took the ice cream. The iced chocolate drink was chocolatey just the way I like it and my husbands coffee was different but good. The only issue is finding a place to sit because a lot of people are here with their laptops doing work or hanging out. A couple was nice enough to move a table down so we can sit comfortably with 2 round tables. The decor is so modern, bright and clean cut. I recently tried the matcha bingsu from here and it is SO GOOD. I loved that the matcha flavor was very apparent and it complemented well with the read bean, mochi pieces and the matcha ice cream. Also the portion size is huge!! We were able to share it between 3 people. The service was very quick as well, we got our food within a few minutes. I love how generous they are with the berries because they are quite expensive--especially blackberries and raspberries!! It was my first time trying a croffle and it was amazing! The croffle itself isn't very sweet and almost a little savory because of its butter content so it balanced out the ice cream and whipped topping very well. I definitely will be back to try their bingsoo and coffee. The croffle is worth the trip alone. We also tried some of their cold beverages. We ordered the strawberry lemonade, matcha lemonade and the berry acai drink. The strawberry lemonade was delightful. It was not overly sweet or tangy with lemonade flavor which I liked. I thought the berry acai was very tasty but had a hint too much peanut butter for my taste. And I did not care for the matcha lemonade drink, but my friends thought it tasted great. I tried the dalgona soft serve and I didn't really like it at all. The dalgona pieces were getting stuck in my teeth and the pieces were pretty unpleasant to chew on while trying to enjoy my ice cream. The ice cream seemed like it was just vanilla ice cream. It took us a few minutes to order because we had a hard time deciding what to get. Fancy and fun waffles to artisanal ice creams can make your head spin. Finally we settled on the tiramisu waffle and affogato ice cream. Unfortunately, both items were mediocre at best. They tasted fine but that was about it. I can't agree with the price if they taste just "fine". It was a bit disappointing because we were expecting something more special like "oh wow, I never thought of this or or wow I can't make this at home". The other issue is their Covid-19 non-compliancy. We were a party of 4 and they didn't check our vaccine status. There were also 2 other large parties and that concerned me. The price is about average for the current rates for milk shaved ice from $16-19. However they are all basic with just the milk shaved ice, a scoop of ice cream or just red bean with a fruit or mochi but pretty. The green tea shaved ice was ok - very sweet and didn't taste like green tea; more like vanilla. The milk shaved ice was ok as well with just red bean, mochi, and milk shaved ice but no classic multi grain powder. The strawberry shaved ice was the best. The best was the ice vanilla latte - the espresso beans were great but the price was steep costing a little over $7 for a large - which is more than even an ice venti vanilla latte from Starbucks. The family rolled in for just one thing - bing soo. Located in a semi quiet strip of Auburndale miles away from downtown Flushing, this place has perhaps the best shaved ice in all of Queens. The decor is bright and colorful - really great vibes for a cafe. The bing soo here is next level good. We ordered the green tea, oreo and mango to try. The mango is a perfect balance of tangy mangoes along with rich vanilla bean ice cream topping a mountain of powdery creamy shaved ice that feels like powder. The oreo was shockingly good - an amazing texture experience that had rich chocolate ice cream that tops the creamy shaved ice but mixed with crushed chocolate cookies which was incredibly fun to eat. The winner though for me was the green tea - creamy green tea shaved ice topped with sweet red beans, green tea ice cream and rainbow mochi is about as good as you can get. I'm having flashbacks just by typing this. The orangeade was also really good - fresh OJ with sparkling soda was very tasty. Prices for the shaved ice range from 14-16 bucks but they're massive and really meant to shared by 2-3 people. If you're looking to take one down yourself, it's still worth the price. I was a bit nervous with this being the first dining experience I'd have where people choose to sit themselves, but I did notice some plexiglasses up to separate different parties. We ended up choosing the matcha red bean bingsoo and a chocolate lava cake. The -1 star was due to their lava cake as it was not exactly "lava". The chocolate cake was completely solid and we had excepted the chocolate to flow out once we cut it open. It also was overly sweet and vanilla ice cream as well.
