If you come to Newburgh, you should definitely stop and eat here. The only thing you need to know is that if it is in the summer and on the weekend, you better get a reservation. The outdoor seating is wonderful when the weather is right, and the food is awesome. I have had many different dishes and thoroughly enjoyed every one. I love the Gyros, and you have to get the potato wedges with chipotle dipping sauce. The soups are fantastic especially the Muligatawny. For desert, I highly recommend anything Ms Penny has fixed, but the carrot cake is devine. My wife and I will stop by on the way home just to take a pice of carrot cake home with us. I can not say enough about how much with love Cafe Arazu, and afterwards you can take a nice walk along the river, or go grab some ice cream at Ben and Penny's during the summer. read more

We ate in the outside patio today.. First slow slow very slow service. Second took forever for someone to come and take drink order once we did get seated, next my drink was nasty and there was a bug in it, ok we ate outside but still don't want a bug in my drink. Third food not nearly as good as it was in the passed... 4 hours later I'm still belching smoked salmon and not in a good way. Table next to us had been waiting for ever for their also... Cafe Aruzu had a very off day today, So disappointed not going back there any time soon.. oh and need I mention all flies all over trying to land on our food, was such a bad lunch.. fell so sorry for the staff I know they were working hard. :( read more

We really like this restaurant. The food is very well prepared and they do a nice job on the presentation. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. This is a nice little hidden gem in Newburgh. The location is small so either get reservations or be prepared to wait for a table. The wait is worth it. I would like to see them add new plates occasionally to changes things up. We had a great dinner tonight. We made a reservation and were seated in the bar. The atmosphere was great. We had a cozy table between the bar and the window. Make a reservation and request Adam as your server. He was informative and accommodating to my mom, grandma, and me. He offered suggestions and seemed to really enjoy his job. I'm sorry I didn't get the red headed hostesses name. But she needs a raise. From my the greeting to the goodbye she could not have been sweeter. It was because of her we ordered dessert. Visiting family in Newburgh from Texas and they love this place. The waitress was super sweet and attentive (Holly I think). The ambiance is charming and we ate outside on the patio. I ordered the blackened Mahi Mahi on coconut rice with bok choy. My fish was very seasoned and cooked a tad more well done than I would prefer but the rice and bok choy were delish! My husband had the beef kbobs and they were nicely cooked and seasoned. We also had the blueberry cheesecake and my daughter had the chocolate chocolate cake - both were super yum!! Kids walked down to Ben and Penny's (also owned by cafe Arazu) and got ice cream too of course! Very neat place for our first dining experience in Indiana. I never do reviews but this was worth the time and effort to make sure others find this gem. Lovely atmosphere and an absolutely incredible food quality! I love Mediterranean food. Traveled in from out of town, saw this on Yelp, and thought I'd give it a try. The hummus appetizer was incredible, lentil soup, chicken kabobs, and a blueberry marscapone dessert... all to die for! I really enjoyed the food. The hummus platter was AMAZING. But they placed my boyfriend and I at a table right in front of the bathroom. So I had to not only hear everything going on in there, but smell it too. That ruined my meal quite a bit. It also took them a REALLY long time to wait on us once we were seated. I asked several Evansville locals for the best lunch spot, and this restaurant was recommended time after time. It was very unique and not something I expected in the small town of Newburgh. For starters, we tried the Shrimp Arazu which was similar to a Bang Bang Shrimp. The shrimp were crispy and coated with a yummy sauce. Then I moved to my lunch which was the Portabello Pesto & Goat Cheese wrap. The lavosh was flaky and so good. It was a cozy atmosphere, with a riverside setting. I enjoyed it. read more

This is the new best restaurant in the Evansville area. The food is consistently good, and the atmosphere is lovely. The owners are passionate about what they do, and it shows. This is one of the only restaurants I recommend to other people in Evansville because there are so few decent meals to be had here. My wife and I decided to eat here one night after hearing numerous people rave about how amazing the food was. The atmosphere was nice, staff was great, but our table was literally 6" away from the woman's restroom (Ehhh... I can shake that one off). Without seeing a menu, I went out on a limb and made an assumption that this place (saying Mediterranean food) would have saganaki ' opa !!. I asked our waitress for an order and was rather shocked to learn how not a single staff member knew what saganaki was ( No biggie huh? I can shrug that one off as well.) I wasn't very hungry so I just ordered a gyro. I am fully aware with the order I had placed that this is similar to dining at a high end steak house and ordering a pork chop. However, my gyro had French fries and pickles in it !! What's that?? I can't do that one. That is simply just horrible. read more

A hidden gem in this small town. The food was absolutely fantastic, I had the chicken shawarma with a Greek salad. Everything is made in house and you can actual see the food being prepared by a woman who looks like she has used these family recipes for years. She was also making fresh strawberry bread pudding with mint leaves that was absolutely delicious. We had a reservation for the patio, but when we arrived (on time), we were told they had written down the info wrong, and we didn't actually have a table. The hostess scrambled to get a table ready for us, but it was obvious our party on top of the other tables were too much for our server to handle. Our server seemed a bit scatter-brained all night, at one point we were told the soup of the day was Kale soup, but then told it actually had no Kale in it (?), and when the soup arrived at our table it was actually tortilla soup! I ordered the Shepherd's Platter, one of the few vegetarian items available at night, and was a little disappointed by how small it was (and I'm not a bit eater by any means). Perhaps this was just an off-night for the new restaurant, so I may give Cafe Arazu another try. read more

To top it all off, when I finally received my food it was incorrect. Not wanting to wait another hour I overlooked the mistake and ate what I was given. It was very underwhelming. This is my favorite restaurant in Newburgh. When I dined this past week I had the fruit & cheese platter, the roasted potatoes with chipotle sauce and the baklava. This restaurant has the worst service out of any restaurant I've ever been to nationwide. However, they do have some amazing food. My husband and I ate here several times and each time we went it was solely their menu and great food that brought us back. We knew if we went, we'd have to block out 1.5-2 hrs to allow for the crappy service to fill water, bring food, and bring the check. Once, they even forgot about us and didn't come back to our table after placing our food order. We went to the hostess after 15-20 minutes of waiting and she said she'd let our waitress know to check on us. Another 10-15 minutes and no sign of her. We asked hostess again, and same message. Finally after almost an hour of waiting for our waitress to bring our food or check on us in general, we asked to speak to a manager. Someone from the kitchen came out (I don't know if he was the manager or not). He found our waitress and she said, "Oh wow, I'm so sorry, I thought you guys had left and didn't know you were still here! Your food is in the warmer! I'll get it now!" We just paid and got our food to go. No discount, nothing. Tonight, we went there, again for the best food ever. Their sign said they closed at 9PM. My husband and I walked in at 7:55 PM. The hostess seated us and I could hear the cook in the back complaining loudly and banging stuff about customers coming in after he'd cleaned. We were waiting for the waitress and a woman from the back came out after 10 minutes and said they'd already cleaned the kitchen early because it was slow and so they were going to serve anyone the rest of the night. I said, "the sign said 9PM, so I didn't know it was an issue." She said, "Yah, I know it says that but since we were slow we just decided to clean early and so our kitchen is closed now". There have been minor things as well, but those two are the biggest. The bad service has finally outweighed the amazing food. We will never be back there again. read more

It's so exciting to see nightlife come to downtown Newburgh! I've been here for lunch twice and once for late night snacks. I love the vegetarian options. Oddly, you can only get the wraps during lunch hours. The dinner menu is a little limited but everything I've tried I've enjoyed.
