So excited to have stumbled upon this gem in the neighborhood and cannot wait to try all other coffee drinks on the menu!

We were on the hunt for a place in flushing that we can go to and not have to rush for seats. Grey cafe is not too far from here but it's always been packed. I love that this place is cute, has Ube drinks that actually taste like Ube (Filipino girlie here)- don't go to Starbucks. Free WiFi, specialty drinks for the win, pastries. It would had been great if there was multiple print copies of the menu so that it doesn't get congested at the register. There is no menu on the wall so I did felt a bit rushed and pressured since it's my first time there as I didn't know what to get.

If you're in Steinway or any of their other locations, I would highly recommend stopping on by and trying out one of their goodies. There are also additional tables and couches toward the back, up a flight of stairs. I got a large iced coffee, which was solid and fairly priced. I found an open table and was able to get some work done with good WiFi. I'm not from the area, but I would definitely come back. I highly recommend this place, especially if you're looking for a cafe to get some work done. * 4.5 stars * Outdoor seating available * Metered street parking * Gender-neutral restroom - check to see if the door is actually locked. The sign said it was in use, so I waited a few minutes before checking... turns out it was open.

An Italian espresso bar is a welcome addition to the neighborhood as there's a real lack of coffee places around. Walking inside, right away I liked the old-school, no frills vibe of Il Primo Cafe. The menu is straightforward, with espresso and milk based drinks like lattes and cappuccinos. I opted for a doppio. They have a few prepackaged sweets including biscotti. There are a couple tables and a bench on the sidewalk outside. It was nice to sit out on a sunny day. I spoke with the owner, Danny, and he is looking to add a pastry case with Italian goodies like rainbow cookies and cannoli, as well as a freezer for gelato during warmer months. I'll be coming back to Il Primo Cafe for my espresso fix and am excited to see what they bring in the future.

I've since it opened given it three separate opportunities to redeem itself, but every single time I get coffee from here I'm extremely disappointed. it's burnt way too hot and just altogether gross tasting. Great location so it's pretty sad that the coffee is just way below average. Actually will never get caught from here again. I've tried to like it so many times- four actually. Now that I think of it, even the iced coffee was shitty, and that's hard to mess up. I think they need to calibrate their espresso machine or simply learn how to make espresso- one of the two. In case it's some of the worst espresso I've had in this neighborhood. Go to the French place on Austin Street. They do it right.
