So I now understand why this place is so empty on a Saturday night. The service is great. With a sometimes overly attentive waiter. First off the rice was both hard and bad. This is unacceptable for any place claiming to have Mexican cuisine. Rice and beans are a staple of the Tex-Mex cuisine. The two shrimp dishes tasted horrible. So being in Texas I'm use to frozen shrimp taste but these shrimp tasted bad and even the sauce had that bad seafood smell. The enchiladas tasted okay and the steak was seasoned well but also tasted of age. Several servings of broken chips later and I refuse to have anyone make the mistake of going here. The waiter was so nice.. read more

I don't recommend anybody coming here the plates are hot but the food was cold the server never did, check on us it used to be good at one time now it's not I do not recommend you coming to this restaurant the only reason I got one star is because I can give it a no* read more

This place has been around for as long as I can remember. I've always enjoyed the food and they have great drink specials. I've been there several times and never experienced bad service. The atmosphere is laid back, so if you're looking for a waiter to stop by and scrape the crumbs from the table...this is the wrong place for you. Their biggest downfall is they don't seem to spend any money on making the place better. The tables and decor that are the same as when I was in high school. The worst part is that they have a great patio space that is wasted! I wish they would update the patio area, I already love the food but having a great patio in South Arlington/Kennedale would be great! A simple revamp of the tables and chairs and a few heat lamps would do the trick....oh and of course tons of string lights! read more

Better than it has been in awhile but still has a way to go - the brisket enchiladas were pretty good

I love the food here. It's always top notch and fresh. What irritates me about this place is the lack of service. One waitress on shift and she cannot handle 3 or 4 tables. The lack of service kills this place. I will definitely go back, but it will not be for a long long time.. read more

Tried this restaurant for the first time tonight and had a great experience. Our server was named Karissa (sp?) and she was not only energetic but had great communication skills. The food was brought out in a timely manner although the papussas that we ordered took a little extra time; not an issue as the wait was worth it. The white queso appetizer was thick and creamy and was very satisfying. Chips and salsa were delicious. For our main entrees, I ordered the Mitchell's Favorite (two enchiladas, beef taco, and steak fajita taco). My girlfriend ordered the Fiesta Enchiladas (three different enchiladas). Overall, the enchiladas with chicken were moist and flavorful. The cheese enchiladas were packed with cheese. The owner/manager (Jose) came over to greet us and to ensure our meal and service were outstanding. This restaurant, although it has been here since the 80's, has been updated and should be a must try. My girlfriend and I definitely recommend this place. read more

I like this place. The staff are good. Margarita's are great! The salsa is great! $1.50 small Margs at lunch is even better!! They have a good Happy Hour with $2.95 margs. 4 to 7. Fish Taco's at lunch were stuffed with fish and a new menu item. I pop in there at least once a month. I can usually find a coupon on cupon clipper.com read more

Tired old restaurant with salsa that tastes like watered down Pace. Food is fair at best. It's been there forever and some people just love this place and I have no idea why.... Maybe it's tradition for them I don't know. I've nick named it Cafe Aca-puke-o. We've been a couple of times over the years and it's still the same. read more

If I could give it less then one start I would! This place honestly deserves an episode on restaurant impossible! The beans are straight out of a can and they still taste funny the Chile rellano isn't crispy at all its mushy and bland and tastes as though it was cooked three days earlier and served today. It's awful at best and stomach turning and the only thing worse then the food is the decor. The floors are disgusting the tables have broken pieces on them there's dust on the fake plants and tapestry that hangs from the ceiling looks like it's been there for 18 years and never been washed. Do yourself a favor don't go! read more

This is my son's favorite restaurant. The food is good. The staff is attentive. The price is reasonable. Not sure what all the negative reviews are talking about. We've always had a great experience here. read more

I am honestly not sure why this place has such a low rating. This place has always been great for me! The food is delicious and good quality. The service is prompt and friendly. The owner is such a nice guy! Please do yourself a favor and give this place a try! read more

I so wanted to love this place. It's very close to where I recently moved and if it was even just ok I'd probably frequent it often. Nope. I will not be going back. It's mediocre at best. The three of us that dined there didn't like anything that we ordered it was all very bland. The only positive thing I have to say about this place is the service was ok. I'm actually surprised they are still open. read more

Had lunch there yesterday. I'm a fan. The place needs some renovation, but I much more interested in the taste of the food and service than the ambiance of a restaurant. My lunch was tasty and the server was very friendly and attentive. The chips were hot and crisp; the enchiladas tasted great. I'll be back. read more

I have been going to this restaurant for over 10 years and I dined there recently . I was taking leftover fajitas and asked for tortillas to go and was told by the waitress I had to pay $4 for them ! I have NEVER been charged for tortillas to go. I will NOT be dining there again read more

Great food at a low price. The staff was very nice and friendly. Was in and out with time to spare for my lunch break. A must do for lunches!!! read more

Great food, better service. Jason really took care of us tonight! Will definitely be back soon.

This is absolutely the most horrid Mexican food I've ever had. I think enchiladas out of a can would taste better. And yes. We made the mistake twice. We went once forever ago and decide that we must have been wrong or else this place couldn't possibly still be in business. We weren't wrong. Totally disgusting. read more

The food is just awful and the service is worse, if that is possible. The restaurant is usually empty, and there's a reason for that. When we were there, we were served the most inedible food that has ever been presented to me in a restaurant. We told the waitress we could not possibly eat it and she smiled and said that "sometimes when they boil the chicken, the fat gets in there too, sorry!" We got our bill thinking they would remove the uneaten food from the ticket, but they had not. When it was mentioned that we didn't feel that we should pay for something we could not eat, the waitress just said "Oh, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your meal." We paid the bill, left, and will NEVER, EVER go back. read more

We had dinner on Christmas night here, it's the worst Tex-mex I've ever had. The queso was not queso. Flautus were bad. Don't waste your Money. read more

The restaurant is in a relatively nice strip center - no trouble with parking. We were greeted promptly, and our waitress was awesome. The advertised $3.25 margaritas showed up as $3.50 on our receipt; a little watered down. The waitress suggested the fajitas for two ($25.50), and they were just ok. Flour tortillas were easily store bought - probably Mission brand from Kroger next door. The rice tasted old and cold, but my husband said the beans were ok. We started out with queso/ground meat, and it was lukewarm. I don't think we will be back. Our total bill plus tip was $45. Money was not well spent. read more

The place is dirty, the service is poor (even though its nearly empty), the food is okay. It's close to our house but we will drive out of our way to find something better. read more

No idea why some say they liked the food; I don't even want to give them a second chance! Service was good and friendly. Food not good at all! Salsa seemed watered-down from a can; chips were stale. We ordered tacos for the kids, and with each bite they took, I could see drops of oil leaking from them. Beans were so dark and of gross consistency... Flautas were just ok, rice was better than ok. At the end, kids asked for ice cream and were told it was frozen hard!!! Thanks for serving the food with silverware and napkins, at least! Sorry but I can't tell anyone to go to this place to eat. read more

I visited this restaurant years ago, but was never impressed with the food. Heard it was taken over by a new owner. Decided to give it a try. Must say, I'm glad I did!! On my first visit, I had brisket-chicken fajitas. My sister had chicken quesadillas. Next visit, i tried achicken, and mushroom plate, my sister had cheese enchiladas with fajita chicken. The flavor of their chicken is one of the best I've had. Just delicious!!! Food was served timely, fresh with a more than generous portion. Everything we had was just the best!! My only complaint is that they are stingy with the salsa. They bring it to you, but you have to keep asking. Not enough to keep me from returning to this little gem!! Try it, you won't be disappointed. read more

Service and food was pretty good- beef enchiladas and chicken fajita nachos. The black bean dip was excellent but had I not read the reviews prior to going there I'm not sure I would have tried it as it doesn't look that appetizing. We'll definitely be back to try some of their other dishes. read more

Visited while waiting for a prescription next door. I had the combination platter and a Pina Colada. It was good! Very cool ambiance for a hole in the wall. This isn't a 4 star restaurant, but it was definitely a pleasant surprise. I will be back read more

I went last Friday, Mar. 16, 2018. I've always wanted to try this place but saw bad reviews so was always skeptical to try it. We only shared fajita nachos which were great. Also, we tried the swirl margaritas which were amazing. They bring out black refried beans with salsa and chips which were also amazing. They had great service and a great patio. I highly recommend this place. read more

Love the tortilla soup. This is an old fashion mexican restaurant. It has a steady loyal clientele. Best chips and salsa. Love the chicken fajitas. read more

I love this place! It's a great neighborhood restaurant, especially when you don't want to mess with the awful traffic on Cooper. The waitstaff are awesome and I love the owner. The menu is more traditional and not gourmet. Great margaritas and happy hour prices. read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME COMING HERE... That being said, I'll tell you about my experience. It was my friends birthday dinner. It took 30 minutes for someone to come out to the patio and ask if we had been helped, which he knew we hadn't because we were in his section. It then took another 30 minutes for the same server to come out and finally get our drink orders. Everyone ordered water except my fiance, which she ordered a Dr pepper, and my friend ordered a beer rita, which the server basically told him not to get it because it would take too long to make. What?! Then it took another 20 minutes for him to bring out our drinks. He places a water in front of my fiance. I told him she ordered Dr pepper and then he tells us their out, so she requests a Coke. My friends "beer rita" came out without the beer in the glass and the margarita only filling up 2/3, if that, of the glass. The margarita is supposed to be frozen, but comes out mostly liquid with a little bit of frozen still left on the top. I mention that we still do not have menus, so he runs inside to grab them, brings them out and then went inside to get a Coke for my fiance. Takes him about another 20 minutes to bring the coke and finally take our orders! We ordered beef fajitas. When they came out, as soon as they hit the table, they stopped sizzling. My fiance heard me make a comment about it and told me that when he came out with the fajitas, he put something on the skillet and relit it. They were horrible and tasted like they had been seasoned with Italian seasoning. At the end of my meal, my friend went inside to complain about the service and was told by the owner "sorry, there's not much I can do to help you. I can take off the tortillas (yes... they charged us for tortillas) but that's about it" which the tortillas were only $0.59. I will NEVER come back to this place. Oh, and when a couple came and sat at a table next to us, their table fell apart. Lmfao, wtf? read more

I am re-writing this review as I recently learned that this establishment decided to delete my review form April 2013 (pasted below). I am not an ex-employee or someone holding a grudge, I know horrible food/service and that is what I got that day at this restaurant. "The experience was equivalent to getting a balloon animal from a clown and having it pop in your face. I took my wife around 3PM on a weekday and were the only people there, the servers were too busy looking up instructions on how to refill tea on their iPhones while we waited for our food. The chips were tough and old... Salsa was ketchup water... Queso transformed my tounge into a ninja crimefighter because it was yellow mutagen. The shrimp entree we ordered was not any better... basically Pedigree erasers boiled in sauce from what it seemed like. We did not finish our meal, simply payed the bill and left. I really wanted to like this place because we heard so much about it over the years... We expected chocolate ice cream and received malted mud cakes." read more

Change of ownership in ~early 2018. Good! Friendly staff, OK food. Hopefully there will be some investment in the interior. (We use it for take-out more often than dine-in!) read more

Cafe Acapulco is a good place to meet in the middle for a meal. I have only been for dinner lately, and the service was good. The restaurant is never crowded, and the menu is typical Mexican food. There is also a patio, which is good when the weather is nice. read more

Nice & quaint. Enchiladas are the best. Margaritas are always good. Chips and salsa before the meal are awesome. Not sure why the rating is so low. Only reason for 4 stars is location. read more

This place is really not that great. There was no Mexican spice in the salsa, fajitas or the tortilla soup. We were not satisfied with the meal but were granted free coupons to come back. 2 stars for effort! read more

In all honesty, the food tasted like it had been sitting out a while and microwaved. Definitely not fresh ingredients, no spice, canned beans, canned salsa. When I told my waitress it was bad she said " hope you come back, " and did nothing else. The décor looks old, but could be tolerable if the food were good. Wont be going back. read more
