Desayuno Campestre

The food came out great. I really like getting there breakfast. The restaurant is nice and clean and they also sell bread. The arrive was good the waiters really don't talk to you. Overall great experience.

My favorite tacos are the simple ones. A double layer of tortillas, some cilantro and onions, a squeeze of lime and topped with some salsa verde. At La Campina, you'll get just that. They're made to order so the meat comes out hot and juicy. I love how the meat is soo lean and flavorful. I would seriously pick this place over Habaneros any day because of how lean their meat is. The tacos are $1.25 a piece- so for an order of three, the total came out to be $4.05. I ordered 3 chicken tacos, one for each of us since it was my first time trying them. We ended coming back for another order of three- this time trying their beef (fajita) tacos. The meat had a nice crisp to them and they were diced in little pieces so it wasn't too hard to eat. I really like how the meat wasn't chewy or filled with gristle. The restaurant sells random Mexican/ el Salvadorean stuff like spices and shampoo. If you happen to be in this part of Arlington, check this place out. I noticed they had Huevos Rancheros.. I'm definitely going to try that next.

The food was very good, hot and fresh. But the service was disappointing and irritating. The service was very slow and we waited for 30 minutes for our check so we could leave. I would have taken a picture of our plates before but I wasn't planning on leaving a review. But after such slow and poor service I thought I'd put in my two cents.

Cheesy goodness

Yes, the food did take a while to come out but it's only cause they make it to order. When I asked how ripe the plantains were, she came back from the kitchen, plantain in hand to make sure it's what I wanted...and it was. The pupusas are large and two of them more than filled me up. Nice and gooey inside, full of cheese and chicharrón. The curtido is flavorful and plenty. I'm so glad that this a stone's throw from my casa...LOVE LOVE LOVE and I'll def come back!

Decor: 3/5 -It is a grocery and restaurant The grocery portion is overly spacious and offers mostly drinks Service: 3/5 -they make their tacos to order so expect 10 minutes for preparation Food: 4.5/5 -Mmm, Mexican soda with a natural sugar, I tried Jarritos Mandarin soda -Steak taco looked burnt and dry but tasted much better than the chicken http://s3-media3.ak.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/v4M0svBHHGNOAVQ-9ql2rQ/l.jpg -Chicken taco was the opposite. It looked good and juicy but it was slightly bland and dry

Pupusas time!

I counted MAYBE 2-3 jalapeno bits in the two that I got. Just a waste of money. This place aint great at all. Go elsewhere.

I appreciated it having English & Spanish descriptions. There were two of us, two menus they brought, and only one water. Had to ask for the 2nd one after we realized it really wasn't coming. They bring you chips & salsa. That salsa is good but it is spicy! Proceed with caution & ensure beverage readily available. We got a bean & cheese papusa just to try. It was decent. I actually don't remember if it had cheese i'd order again with different filling. I enjoyed my chicken quesadillas. They were stuffed with meat and the side portion of rice and beans was large and good. The cheese to meat ratio wasn't right for a quesadilla - some ate more like a soft taco than quesadilla) but my arteries are probably in a better place with less cheese. The beans could benefit from a tad of flavor. I was supposed to get pico but believe we may have had a communication issue as my Mom asked for no pico (on hers). Not a biggie though. My Mom enjoyed the nachos. Chips are different than what we're used to. We were both disappointed in the consistency, taste & flavor of the guacamole. It was not good, seemed to come from a tube, near revolting. The prices are a little on the high end. We both brought half our meals home so not so bad when divided out that way. Unfortunately I'm not fluent in spanish so there was a minor language barrier but all the staff were smiling, welcoming, and we did well enough! I would like to go back to try more.

The chips are good and the bean dip and salsa are excellent. Today we split chicken and skirt steak fajitas. They were excellent! The biggest problem with steak fajitas is when the meat is tough or chewy, making it difficult to eat without pulling the meat out of the tortilla. The meat today was delicious and tender. Service was fantastic. Our server, Oscar was fast and attentive enough to make sure we were enjoying the meal, not too intrusive. The atmosphere feels more authentic than many larger chains. There are a lot of tables and it is not quiet, but not really noisy either. It was easy to carry on a quiet conversation. Would highly recommend. I have no idea why their Yelp rating isn't higher.
