My mom, daughter and I randomly decided to try Lupe's one random Thursday night and we weren't disappointed! We sat on the patio since it was such a nice night. The service was great, our waiter was attentive and friendly. The food was delicious and they have great chips and salsa and queso. It has been awhile since I've been here and this is likely my first time for a weekday lunch. Easy parking, walked right in and was greeted & seated. I was quickly brought water, chips, salsa & a black bean dip by a pleasant young man. The very upbeat friendly waitress was over quickly to introduce herself and offer assistance and service. I didn't have a ton of time and was hungry so figured chicken quesadillas would be a safe choice, My meal was out in no time.... No really...... maybe 5 minutes top. The chips are warm and crispy. Salsa & black bean dip are great. The quesadillas were full of chicken & cheese, the refried beans were really good. I'm not a big fan of rice but it was tasty. Stopped by to grab a drink and some food to go and this place was just wonderful! They were very busy for a Friday afternoon big groups but the bar was empty they made me a drink quickly and it was delicious! Very well made the flautas were fantastic! Absolute horrible experience. Asked to sit outside and when I pulled the chair out to sit down the leg of the chair slipped off the platform and I took a hard fall on the concrete pulling my hip. I reported it General Manager Carlos who immediately asked me "so you pulled the chair" as if it was my fault. I began to tell him details of what happened and that I wanted to fill out an incident report and he said "huh" I spoke up and he waved his hand at me and told me not to yell, which clearly I wasn't. I asked to fill out a report and he walked away not to return. I've been coming to this location for the last six years, I won't be back. The waitress Jennifer and witness Franco were great and apologetic GM Carlos instantly attempted to blame me for their unsafe design and persisted to try and fight me. When Lincoln Square was new this suite where Lupe's is was a Culwell & Sons Men's Clothier. When we had to have a new Ranger's Stadium and the areas traffic was dominated by baseball traffic Culwell & Sons closed and a number of mid range restaurants with their fledgling staff's came and went. Tex-Mex is pretty popular so Lupe's has been able to survive this long even with a staff commensurate to the previous tenants. Currently they have someone in the kitchen that is pretty talented because currently the food is pretty good. The issue with this place not being a north Arlington destination, with all its multi-millionaire's that live here, is that Lupe's doesn't consciously cater to these natives of this immediate area. When the place first opened the area had expectations and the bar had a crowd every day of these local homeowners who could just as easily dine or unwind on Southlake Blvd., West 7th St. or Preston and NW Hwy. But since it opened the tv's have been on Mexican channels there for the convenience and entertainment of the people who work there, after all they're the one's keeping the place open right ?!? So when you're waiting for a buddy or a date to arrive you get to watch Mexican tv, yippie !! And the Mexican / European polka waltz genre from German / Czech settlers from 300 years ago provides no local cultural encouragement for casual conversation for singles coming to frequent the place. Easy Listening, 1960's and 1970's, Rock N Roll has shown to be the best music to fill the air if an owner of a gathering establishment cares to fill his room evening after evening. But hey again, this so far hasn't been about the locals bringing their bankroll and being fed, entertained and leaving with a memorable experience, it's been about the people who work there. And it doesn't seem to mean much to the owners or their managers either because they have to know by now they're at about 1/3 capacity they could be economically speaking. Restaurants and bars used to be at least somewhat about making enough money for well mannered college bound youth to earn enough for tuition, a car, clothes, jewelry, a nice lunch every now and then and an apartment. This was if the restaurant was "on the ball" and the manager was there to assist in making sure the waiters, waitresses and bartenders were keeping up with the crowd by ensuring that the dirty dishes were taken to the back and allowing the wait staff to continue to wait on the patron; to do what they were good at. A restaurant owner doesn't pay their wait staff, it's tips that does that so making the wait staff look good is one way to ensure the staff earns tips. This happens with good food, service and atmosphere and nothing less. Anything less and you don't have good food, serve and atmosphere, you don't have good bunch of customers, you don't make good money, you don't have a good front of the house staff and you disappoint the community that you say you are there to serve. Lupe's is a good place to have a good restaurant and they should start tomorrow. read more

I had never been there even though it's been around for years and I lived in Arlington for 39 years before moving to Funky Town in 2022. Well Lupe's??? Honestly I don't know what happened today but I had chicken fajitas today for lunch and they were the worst I have ever had, these were very thin strips of chicken that appeared to be pan seared and not grilled. There was no flavor at all. They were overcooked, dry and tough. I have been here many times over the years with no complaints but this was a first. Our server was very attentive and the food came out fast but the chicken was luke warm. The enchiladas were on point. All and all I will return but I would not recommend the fajitas. read more

How does Lupe's make all of their food taste so good? Their cheese enchiladas are ridiculous. It feels sinful eating them with that absurd amount of absurdly gooey cheese in them. And the chili con carne on top is just insane, Jon was trying to lick MY plate. The Spanish rice is out of this world flavorful and the refried beans are pretty perfect. Even the chips and salsa are top notch. The chips are served hot and crunchy but they almost have a softness to them, the way they fall apart in your mouth. First off our server Joseph, was outstanding, he was so friendly in a genuine way, not put on. He's the kind of person, I'd like to sit down and have a cup of coffee with. He was very attentive and took care of during our visit without being a pest! 5 stars for his service. I don't say this lightly. I look at my restaurants visits from a different perspective after spending 25+ years in food service management. I would have loved to have him as a server when I was managing restaurants. COVID-19 protocols were being followed to the tee! My wife and I were very impressed with the cleanliness of Lupe's It was delightful on the patio so we ate outside in a booth. I like their booths since they're raised and easier for me to get up from. Salsa, bean dip and chips were served promptly when we were seated. Totally delicious salsa! I loved the hot salsa. The "chip lady" was happy and greeted us. Next onto the food, 5 stars! My wife's chicken fajita nachos were some of the best we've ever eaten out at a TexMex establishment. The chicken fajita meat was marinated and grill to perfection. My combination platter was delicious. I loved Lupe's taco meat, it was seasoned perfectly. The sour cream chicken enchilada was packed full of meat with a wonderful sauce on it. Lastly the cheese enchilada was just what you'd expect at a great TexMex restaurant. Rice and refried bean were seasoned very nicely. Overall Lupe's puts out wonderful food from their kitchen. It is prepared with care. Don't come expecting lunch specials. They've been taken off the menu I assume temporarily due to COVID. I understand why. Restaurants are barely making it right now. Lunch specials don't bring in the revenue the regular menu does. Our bill before tip was $35 with tea to drink. But we had a good time and was happy to support a local restaurant chain. We will be back soon and will see if Joseph is working. read more

I wanted to try a new place for Mexican food so we went to Lupe's. They have been at this location a while now so we decided to give them a try. I was not pleased with the food it was just okay nothing special. The enchilada plate with a taco tasted fine not great. The plate of food was hot and plenty I hoped they would be good I am usually a fan of Tex Mex. The restaurant was dark and looked old style. The fans were blowing at full speed over all the tables. The food cools off very fast and I do not like being cold when I eat. I told the waiter but he did not care. My margarita was very sweet not a fan of overly sweet margaritas. The waiter never came back and ask if I wanted another drink. And the waiter did not come back and check on his table. Poor service and never saw a manger or any one in charge. Overall an okay experience. Food was good. I had the enchiladas poblano and was satisfied with the flavor and amount of food. Their salsa is very good and so fresh, but not in love with their large chips. The queso was decent. Had some flavor but was more just cheese sauce. I did not have a drink but friends did and they were large and looked quite good! Would be willing to go back and try more. Why isn't this place busier?? Our trusted Lupe's never lets us down. And we just discovered they serve FREE mimosa's with brunch on Sat/Sun! Chips and salsa are always fresh, and addicting, the sangria margarita swirl is perfect for sharing. Their Caldo de Pollo is delicious, Mexico City tacos are crave-worthy (and spicy!), as are the Brisket Tacos if you're not into spicy foods. They recently upgraded the booths and painted which looks really nice. And they added a few tvs for the sports fans (I am not one, but yay!). The servers are super laid back and get the orders right every. single. time. Management is on top of everything it seems. We love bringing friends and family here! read more

Did not get to eat at one of my favorite restaurants on this trip due to the snow storm as they were closed so my cousins suggested we go here and I loved this Tex-Mex restaurant tucked away in a strip mall. Guacamole made at the table, very good. Don't remember the name of the entree I order but had an enchilada of my choice, I chose beef. Also included a tamale, beef taco, rice and refried beans. My cousins ordered the beef and shrimp fajitas which they said were very good. All was excellent. Salsa and chips were good also. Restaurant was clean and staff was very friendly. Stopped in for National Taco Day. They were pretty busy and I walked in behind two women. The guy at the hostess stand asked them in Spanish how many, they said 2, he asked them again in Spanish if they preferred a booth or table, they responded and he took them to their seats. And I stood there and waited and waited and waited. Even made eye contact with the guy who is now serving water and chips to another table he waved at me went on about his business and I waited. I've then made eye contact with a lady who was taking chips to a table and she waved at me and I waited. I walked around to the bar and waved at the bartender asked her if I needed to wait for someone to seat me she said yes someone will be right with you so I went back and I waited. The past couple of years since ownership changed it has gone down hill each time we have gone (trying so hard not to give up on them) Welp, last weekend was the end. We arrived and sat in the bar, waited 10 minutes for chips...NEVER was acknowledged by the bartender even though he came out from behind the bar and spoke with a table directly behind us..what?!?! Continued to wait and finally a waiter came over now we're up to 20 minutes, ordered drinks, waited another 8-10 minutes and finally walked out. HUGE disappointment. Maybe they don't value keeping customers, who knows. It's back to Mariano's for us. read more

We were greeted right away and escorted to a booth that all future booths will fail to compare. It was basically a private little cove with an open arch. Greatness. Found out when we got our receipt that they charge for this and for all chip refills (which were not disclosed or listed on the menu). SO many things to say about our visit to Lupe's but the most important part is when we went to pay our over $100 bill, we gave cash and card and told the waiter to apply the cash then charge the card. Ended up charging the whole bill on the card and pocketed the cash. When we asked him to fix it, he left for about 4 minutes came back saying it was fixed but couldn't provide proof of the reversal. Lupe's is a nice little spot hidden in the Lincoln Square shopping center. Once you're inside, it's much bigger than it looks. They have really good salsas and I finally tried their queso! So good. I've had their margaritas a couple of times, consistently good. I really like their food too. It's one of those places that I would go more if I didn't feel like all my friends and family would be sick of Mexican food. read more
