    R4. Combination Fried Rice

One Dish that Beats the Rest. Fried Rice! It's real nice. The Crispy Mapo Tofu wasn't at all crispy which was a bummer :( But! The fried rice is stellar and worth coming back for!

I hate to give negative reviews, so I apologize to the owners, but the original milk tea boba tea is not good. It tastes watery, and the bobas were over cooked and soggy. Good price, but not a good drink. I hope you will improve your boba tea and bobas.

Combination fried rice and curry rice noodles

New to Stillwater and was excited to give this place a try. Arrived at 6:00 pm on a Friday and it was kind of packed but not too much, however, I was able to find a place to sit . I ordered the fried pork wontons, egg rolls, combination fried rice, and curry rice noodles. To drink I ordered the kiwi slushee. The food arrived 20 mins after I ordered. I did not like the combination fried rice, it was supposed to be a 4 spice level but there was no spice and it tasted like white rice with crushed red pepper flakes and that was it. No flavor. The curry rice noodles was really good and was also a spice level of 4 and it was actually spicy (just a little though). There was plenty of veggies however there was maybe one or two pieces of chicken. If I came back I would order this again. The fried pork wontons tasted like tortillas and wasn't also very flavorful like the rice and the egg rolls were soft and mushy inside. The kiwi slushee was delicious though. To be honest I wouldn't come here again for the food however would come back for the drink.

Visited on: multiple dates from 2012 to present This place is okay. It's not terrible, but it's not extraordinary either. It's a good lunch spot because it's reasonably inexpensive and it's close to campus. Space is limited, though, and I always feel cramped and dirty every time I'm there. One distinctive thing about this place is that they cover their plates in aluminum foil, which is something to get used to. I have to admit that I used to like this place more before Boba Fusion Café came along and stole its thunder by offering better (i.e., more authentic and just plain tastier) Chinese food in a much nicer environment. Café 88 has a regular menu and daily (or weekly?) specials that are off the menu. The regular menu is, for the most part, Americanized. I've had the following: A4 - Fried Pork Wontons - bleh E2 - Fried Pork Chop - this was okay; it's a lot like Japanese katsu S2 - 3 Cup Chicken - okay S4 - Spicy Diced Chicken - okay R3 - Shrimp Stir-Fried Noodles (with Curry flavor) - fine R4 - Combo Stir-Fried Noodles (with Regular and Curry flavors) - the Regular was too sweet; the Curry is fine N1 - Curry Rice Noodle - not bad; this might be the best thing on the regular menu I've also had the Strawberry and Passion Fruit Slushies, and they're fine. The best part about Café 88 is that they have specials, which are much closer to authentic Chinese food. For the specials, I've had the following: - lu rou fan (braised pork over rice, a classic Taiwanese comfort food) - pretty good - hong shao ji chi (chicken wings with oyster sauce) - it was okay - suan miao la rou (cured pork belly with leeks, my favorite Hunan dish) - very good, but they barely ever make it and I don't think they've ever officially offered it; I think the one time I had it it was leftovers from a meal that the chefs cooked for themselves, and were nice enough to share with me - tomato beef over rice - not bad - ji rou plus pei gen plus dou gan plus bao xin cai - this was a hodgepodge of chicken and bean curd thrown together with some random cabbage-type vegetables; it was good Even though the specials are more authentic than the regular fare, they still don't quite make it all the way. For whatever odd reason, the cooks always insist on using broccoli for both regular items and specials. They also like to randomly throw in fried eggs and sweet sauces. I much prefer the food at Boba Fusion. Oh, and there's some kind of minimum total for using credit or debit cards. I think it might be $5 or $8. I recommend bringing cash.

This is my favorite and go to place. The boba tea and chicken fried rice are the best.

I love this place! Good for that isn't ridiculously priced. Best to get it to go due to small amount of seating.

Solid food and a big menu in a great location across from campus. It's a really small place, so sometimes it's cramped.

Foods are ok. But service during peek hours is terrible. I have waited for 30 mins for a soup and still waiting when I am typing this.

The restaurant is clean and the staff are wonderful and friendly. I ordered egg drop soup, 1 egg roll, Jasmine tea, and Cashew chicken. There was something seriously wrong with the soup. It was NOT good and the crispy noodles were very bitter. Like they haven't changed their oil in a month. Gross I spoke with possibly the owner and he said he doesn't eat the soup. He didn't sound like he was going to taste it to check. The egg roll was absolutely delicious! I could have eaten 4 of them. My entree was generic and salty. Most of the menu has the same brown sauce, so don't expect the dishes to have much difference in flavor profile. All in all, my review is generous at best.

They had a sign up welcoming customers to their soft opening and asking for constructive criticism. The biggest disappointment was the calamari. It tasted like frozen onion rings. The thick batter was identical to the batter of frozen onion rings. When I bit into the first one, the calamari came out, revealing what a tiny sliver of calamari was inside the thick breading. I would definitely recommend choosing a different appetizer. I like that they have lunch specials which include eggroll, choice of rice, and choice of soup. Dan and I both got Pad Thai with shrimp, egg drop soup, and fried rice. Our grandson got lo Mein with beef, won ton soup, and fried rice. He liked his soup and entree. The egg rolls were a little greasy and we didn't get a sauce for them. We did not like the fried rice. It was dry and had an unpleasant flavor. I couldn't tell what spice I was tasting, but it seemed to belong in an Indian restaurant instead of an Asian restaurant. The dry and underdone texture added to the unpleasantness. Dan and I both love Pad Thai, but we didn't enjoy this. We ordered it around 2:00. It might have been fresher earlier. The sauce seemed too thick and a little sweet. As the sign said, this was a soft opening. I will try them again after they've been open awhile.
