My wife and I had dinner here about a week ago. We were visiting Walla Walla from Portland, Oregon…read more The Public House 124 was recommended to us by some locals. It had a nice laid-back feel to it. Our server was very friendly and responsive, and the food was tasty. The next day, I realized I had likely left my credit card there. I called them to inquire about it and they confirmed that I had indeed left the card there. As we were already on route back to Portland I asked if I could pay them to mail the card back to my Portland address. They were happy to mail it to my address at no charge. They said that it wasn't the first time people from out of town had left their credit cards there and they are always more than happy to mail it back to their customers free of charge. The card arrived in the mail a few days later. We appreciate our experience at this establishment, not just because of the good food, but also for going out of their way for their customers.

I had a hard cider within a couple minutes and our food order was in. The kitchen didn't take long, and the food was awesome! The burgers were fresh and juicy, the steak sandwich was juicy and full of flavor. The chicken sandwich was massive! It was cooked well and served on a super soft bun. Everything was delicious! Great food, great service!

The burger I had and the Philly cheesesteak my hubby had was one of the best. They obviously care about their customers and staff here. We will definitely be back if and when we're in the area again. From our table, we could see two different shows: Bluey for the kids and Bob Ross for the adults. Some of the menu lettering was a little small, but it was okay. It was a bit hard to get there because the GPS location was incorrect in our system, and we almost missed it. Also, the arcade sadly wasn't there anymore. However, the service was fast, and both the waitress and staff were very friendly. The burgers were bomb. If you're a pickle lover, the dill pickle ranch is definitely for you. The mac and cheese was pretty good, and the fries were good too--just a little salty in my opinion. When we left, we accidentally left some mozzarella sticks, and a staff member brought it to us! Overall, it's a very casual and nice place.

The pretzels appetizer was a couple of med 4"-5" pretzels with a couple dipping sauces that you choose. The steak bites are breaded (wish that was in the description ahead of time) and the cook was hit miss. I ordered medium rare. Some bites were medium but still very tender and juicy. I chose the Thai peanut dipping sauce. It was very good but also had a bite so if you don't like heat you may not want this choice. The tots and leftover sauce were tasty enough that they went home with me. . Got in just before the horde. This place was hopping on a Saturday night and once it filled up the acoustics made conversation a bit more difficult. Over all a good place.

Then, they kept getting our orders incorrect. I wondered if it was because it was a loud environment and it was hard to focus on getting orders right or, it also seemed like they were understaffed for the large amount of people that was there. The food was pretty good but nothing to write home about. I had a huckleberry lemon drop which was really delicious (and surprisingly strong for a lemon drop!). Came here on a summer Saturday evening and while it was pretty crowded, there were still tables available and any wait times were very minimal. There are usually live bands playing here on Saturday evenings and it's a nice social environment, but don't expect fast service here.

My second woman back at home wanted a scoop of ice cream in a cup. This is impossible for them even though they have ice cream cones, sundaes, and milkshakes. A cup is out of the question. We get the creams through the window and we notice there is no hot fudge on the sundae. We ask if we can get some. She looks at me as if I just asked for raw beef on my sundae. Side note: the sundae was a single scoop of ice cream (in a cup) with just nuts and whipped cream on top. She said that we ordered a sundae, not a hot fudge sundae. She went back inside to ask if we could have some hot fudge. She comes back with about a tablespoon of hot fudge for us. The straws are unable to withstand the thickness of the milkshake. I had to go home and use a spoon. Ice cream tastes great though.
