Every time we are visiting Big Bear, we make it a point to go to Cafe 247 to grab something to eat as we go down the mountain back to Vegas. The food was about 4.5 stars, so why don't we round up? They deserve that. This 5-star review is based and scored solely on the food and service I received. As many people said, there are (or were, when I visited) many pro-Trump flyers and the restaurant definitely expresses obvious disdain for the governor and wearing masks. If you are at-risk, yeah you probably wouldn't want to eat in, unfortunately. But it's a free country; small businesses can express their views, just like customers and patrons can express their views by not patronizing such restaurants. Go for the food, not for the politics. The food is worth it, no matter what your beliefs are. Get the BBQ; it is a must! Nobody is going to cause trouble unless you go looking for it. Even as somebody who doesn't agree with their stance, I respect it. I think it's great that American citizens allowed to speak our opinion without fear. Besides, the food is amazing. This place is amazing. The ambiance of all the junkers out front and the license plates and go karts inside. So cool. Staff is extremely friendly. And food is awesome! Was headed in, but saw a sign where they threaten to mock customers who wear a mask (in the form of "cute" lyrics to the Queen song "We Will Rock You"). Really? You think that MOCKING people trying to keep themselves, and YOU (and your customers) safe in the middle of a deadly pandemic is the way to attact business? I turned around and left. I refuse to patronize a business that treats its customers and its employees this way. Stop by today while out for a motorcycle ride. Always wanted to stop today we did. Live band which was a lot of fun. Had a pastrami burger and it was excellent and the fries were good too. $12.95 for burger and fries a bit high but the food was good so I don't mind so much. The gal who took our order was was sweet. Had a late breakfast and they made egg and cheese burritos with various things added for our dining pleasure. It's a hole in the wall kind of a biker place. Looks like they have barbecue outside where people still sit a lot and it seems like a good community gathering place. Food was good enough ice tea tasted refreshing. For sure this cafe is worth many more return trips. The decor is pretty cool and the people working there are pretty laid back and friendly. I don't end up in this stretch of roads often so finding this place is nice. I've got to thank my clients for picking this cafe for lunch. I had the carne asada salad and a bowl of chili for lunch. The chili was nice. I talked about it so that my client ordered 1 to go lol They have bbq but only on the weekends. They also serve beer, but no draft, only bottled. This place has amazing BBQ but you've got to get there early if you want all the choices because the tend to sell out of some items. We tend to go to this spot on the weekends and always leave satisfied. This is not a "Fine Dining" experience but the fare is better than you would expect from a on a desert highway in the #Middleofknowwhere Stop in on your way to Johnson Valley for King of the Hammers or any of the 100's of other off road events in the Lucerne/Johnson OHV area and it's like an off road vehicle show! read more

First time here at 11:30 am on a Friday. So many things on the wall to look at when we were waiting. The cook and cashiers were friendly and helpful, and the recommendations were right on. This is our 3rd time stopping here from a trip to Yucca Valley and Palm Springs. They have a very unique decorations. The ambiance is great here especially on the weekends, they have a live band. Awesome Tasty Huge Portions of Food Great Prices My Bride & I stopped in & had an amazing lunch enjoying the Cafe's beautiful outside patio. I had the pork ribs, corn on the cob, beans & sausage. The ribs were scrumptious & the meat fell off the bones. The sausage was by far the best I've ever eaten. The corn was moist & flavorful. The beans were soooooo good. I couldn't finish the ribs so I will have great leftovers. The sausage was too good & I bought more to enjoy later with my ribs. My Bride had the BEST BLT sandwich she has ever had. She also had the mozzarella sticks. We even bought a loaf of homemade banana nut bread -- very very tasty. The Staff was excellent, friendly & professional. The Cafe & bathrooms were very clean. We were hungry for lunch en route to Big Bear on a random Sunday. Coming into Lucerne Valley, we were greeted with BBQ smoke and the men manning the grill trying to get us to come in. After stopping at the Valero down the street, I yelped the place and found good reviews so we stopped by. The BBQers that flagged us down welcomed us and seemed genuinely glad we came to eat. The inside is nicely decorated with vintage license plates from every state. They have a huge menu offering breakfast, lunch, dinner, American food, Mexican food, and BBQ. All of their food looked delicious and was fairly priced. They also have cheap beer.... $4 for a sculpin!!! Yes please. We ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich and a pumpkin pie milk shake. They had to check if they still had pulled pork because it was selling faster than they were BBQing it. Good sign. The pumpkin shake was delicious with great pumpkin flavors and chunks of pie crust. What a funky little place on a corner of what feels out in the middle of nowhere! The place advertised BBQ so felt we had to stop. After parking you have to kind of worked to find the entrance but there's lots to look at. Once inside the funky decor covers everything! The women's restroom was a trip in itself. The menu was quite large, we didn't see any BBQ but we settled on a burger, a bit pricey but huge. The burgers were delicious and the sweet potato chips were fantastic! Didn't drink at the "Hydration Station" outside but it looked like it could throw down a good drink. We headed outside to wait (not long) and spoke to a few of the locals, they were as colorful and funky as the cafe. Though there was only a few people here when we visited we were told the place comes alive at night and a favorite with the locals, we could see why. A fun, funky cafe that's worth a stop! read more
