Leaving Coachella Camp my buddy decides to take the scenic route home because LA traffic is such a drag and bore. Sometimes I feel as if we took a wrong turn but came out to be a right turn. This little diner in the middle of no mans land took us back into civilization surprisingly. It's such a cute diner filled with unique license plates and cool signs. It looks like it use to be a home so it gave a mom & pop type diner feel. I don't even bother looking at menus now because it's a bit overwhelming with all the choices they give people these days. So I just go by what's a favorite or popular of the people here? The lady said either the all meat breakfast burrito or the jalapeño avocado burger. It was early in the day still so I went with the breakfast burrito. It was so yummy packed with protein. I finished it while trying all the hot sauces that were on the shelf. I do recommend festival goers to stop by if you go home this route. The breakfast is on point! read more

This is great roadside restaurant with live music on the weekends. The burgers are some of the best I've ever had, along with pastrami. I've been here about 4 times and have never been disappointed. The service is excellent, the atmosphere is family friendly and there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating for your entire group. Tried this restaurant on a whim as we were on our way home from Joshua Tree. Pretty much the only thing around. My partners veggie burger and fries were very good, but my scrambled eggs look like they had been put through the blender. Something about cooks in these FarOut places that they wanna stand around and chop the eggs like they've got nothing else to do while waiting for the deep fried hashbrowns to cook. This was one of the coolest places I've been to. The atmosphere was cool, the people were so kind and welcoming. Loved the way this place was decorated too! As for the food, it was delicious. We came in one morning and they had a sign that said the water was out so they were closed. We hung around for 20 minutes to look at all the oddities in the patio and museum like decor. Then the owner comes out to tell us they were opening so to come in. So we went in and ordered their famous breakfast burritos. I'm not normally a fan of breakfast burritos but it was a very nice delicious surprise. Pretty darn good. This was a somewhat hidden gem but its not really hidden. It stands out from the road. But its pretty unique and worth a stop if you are nearby. read more

I don't usually expect much from eateries in small desert towns. But Cafe 247 loons that curve, offering among the best beef ribs I've ever had. A lot of places claim to have ribs that slide off the bone, but they're usually sloppy, greasy, and leave you walking in search of a bottle of TUMS. Not here! Slow cooked, delish, and simply superb, this is my go to rib place off the mountain. I had a portion of my friend's kielbasa, and while I'm not used to having it in bbq sauce (traditional Boston Polish delis serve them with mustard and sauerkraut), after a few bites, it grew on me.... quickly! Adding to the dining experience is a super unique ambiance that's a cross between a biker's club, an art junkyard, and Hollywood museum of memories. It's quite an eye-catching, entertaining place. What in the Napoleon Dynamite How the hell is everyone giving good review? Maybe everyone doesn't have taste buds!? Lazy, cold, crap food. That about sums it up. Friendly service, but wow! I'm sure the eggs are powdered, cold on top of it. The hash browns aren't even hash browns they're those frozen patties you find in the freezer section, probably at old Lucern market ! Bacon, cold and hard. Pancakes taste like those mini frozen pancakes, again from the frozen section at a grocery store. So lacy they don't even have a syrup bottle it's packaged to go containers. You get one for two dry pancakes. Everything served on plastic plates you'd get from McDonald's or a fast food place to go! You get a fork and no knife to try to cut into those stale pancakes. read more

Well, the food was served on a lot of styrofoam, but I don't think this is a target destination for food. Besides, who comes to a place like this for breakfast? Everyone was super friendly. Our experience was at an odd and early hour. My guess is that this place hits its stride on weekend afternoons in the summer. The patio scene must be awesome. BBQ, beer, music and fun in an absolutely unique environment. Yes, this gives every indication of being a quintessential biker bar, in all the best ways. One great thing about experiencing Cafe 247 early in the day was a visitation by a resident roadrunner. My wife is fascinated by these birds and finally got to see one up close. Awesome! read more

I wanted to drive out to Cafe 247 because I was craving tri-tip or something BBQ. I had never eaten there before, but on one trip I passed by and knew I would be back. They weren't serving tri-tip for lunch, only dinner. So I ordered the Pastrami burger with cheese, fries, and a side of BBQ sauce. It was July 29th on a Tuesday, and there was no one in the dining area, so I visited on the best day. I loved the outside area with quirky stuff all around from the past. Inside was designed with signs and other good things from days gone by. The staff were friendly and helpful. I ordered my food, and it didn't take long for them to bring it over to my table. The meat was fresh and very tasty. The size of the sandwich was big and very filling. I loved the fries. The food was terrific. I didn't care too much for the side of BBQ sauce because it was a sweet style. I like a more savory flavored sauce. The cost of the burger, with added cheese, fries, and bottled water, came to about $22. In total, I spent $32 because I bought a couple of souvenirs. On the way out, I went to the ladies' room, and there were funny signs and stickers from people who had visited. I was able to put my sticker on the door and also outside in the dining area. All in all, my visit was great, and I was sad to leave because the nostalgic feeling it gave me reminded me of my childhood. I would definitely recommend this eatery for anyone who is looking for an experience of the bygone era. read more

I was on a road trip while visiting in-laws in apple valley. I have had my pick of burgers being from San Jose the Bay Area. Their Pastrami burger was the best I have had! Well worth the drive. Wife had the WOW burger. Both burgers were WOW awesome. Burger meat was at least 3/4 inch to 1 inch thick. Not that frozen patty junk sold at the other fast casual places. They close early during the week so be sure to get there by 4pm for dinner like we did. Place was clean and very eclectic. Just like an old 1980 diner sealed in a time capsule and transported to this four way stop sign cross roads. Staff was friendly and attentive. This is not "fast food" and is well worth the wait. Can't wait to go back on the weekend and try the BBQ! read more

Stopped by here on a Sunday after visiting Wolf Mountain Sanctuary, which I also recommend you check out when in the area.Definitely a great decision after standing in the sun and dirt for a couple of hours. There was live music and a ton of bikers. Very festive ambience! Service was good and friendly, they were dealing with lots of people and many drunky folks. Be prepared to wait if you go at peak party hours, we didn't mind the wait it was obvious they were busy. They were out of most bbq so we got a kielbasa and pulled pork sandwich. Kielbasa 5/10- I'd say skip this it's sausage with bbq sauce, corn is over done but the baked beans were great and I rarely liked other folks baked beans and we finished the side. Pulled pork sandwich- 9/10 this was great, the first juicy and flavorful bite hit me and I was so pleasantly surprised!! The home made bbq potato chips just blew me away!! The coleslaw- skip it, truly blah. Bacon Cheeseburger- 8.5/10 overall a monster of a burger that was flavorful and put together well. I feel like the beef could have been more seasoned, but there was salt n pepper on the table. I'd definitely try another burger next time I'm in the area. Jalapeño poppers- 7/10 these are probably premade from frozen from Sysco but they were perfectly crispy. read more

Everyone you better eat dinner at 4pm if you want to eat at this place or you will get kicked out of the restaurant. I took my Mom visiting from Alabama out to eat dinner and we arrived at 5:45 pm and she said we close at 6:00pm. I asked the cashier if we would be kicked out or allowed to eat dinner and she said she would ask the cook. She never came back to responded to us. A simple answer would have been appreciated or maybe only take Togo orders after a certain time. The cook brought our food in Togo packages with the keys to lock the door. Finally stopped at this cute little cafe on the way back home to Vegas. They just opened when I arrived on 9th. The lady who greeted me as I walked in was very nice. She recommended the breakfast burrito, which is popular there. I got the sausage breakfast burrito. While waiting, I decided to take pictures inside. Love the atmosphere with all the random stickers. After having driven past this place several times on my way to/from Las Vegas, I stopped in this past Sunday when the crowd didn't seem too bad. Later in the day on Sundays, the place gets filled up with folks on motorcycles and ATVs. Upon walking into their outdoor space, I was pleasantly surprised to see a live band on stage. I went inside (after I figured out which door to use) to order a beer -- Stone IPA, for $7, which isn't too terrible, and took it back outside to enjoy the band. They played a nice mix of mostly classic rock. The staff was not super-friendly, but maybe this is one of those places where they warm up to you after they start recognizing you. I didn't have any of the tasty-looking BBQ, but I might have to rectify that situation upon my next visit. I was a little bummed to have to continue my journey down into the low desert, because I could have sat there drinking beer and listening to the band for hours. Always a blast when coming here, but the weekend is an extra treat with the finger licking good bbq that falls off the bone. The beef ribs are the best I've ever had, and I love to consume bbq anywhere I can. Their sausages are so flavorful with the perfect crisp on the casings and juicy. The pork ribs and brisket all leave you wanting more. Get here early, when they sell out, that's it. You might even get lucky and there will be a live band playing outside.
