I have been wanting to bring the family here for some time. I had breakfast once awhile back and it was amazing. I finally was able to gather the family up in the truck and head out to Lucerne Valley. This place is amazing. The food is good and the scene is just right. The inside is a tad small with just a few booth style tables but there are plenty of outdoor seats available. The staff was super helpful with what is more popular on the menu. They have ALOT of options. If you are out doing some off roading and you're hungry, this is the place to stop. The BBQ is top notch and everyone can have a great time. read more

This is not my first time coming to cafe 247 and it won't be my last I really like the food the atmosphere and the service they really go above and beyond when it comes to good food.....but what I don't like and thus the reason for the three stars is nobody brings the food out to your table no comes and refills your coffee/soft drinks or picks up your plates after you are done eating you get no table service what so ever and yet they charge you 20% gratuity if you're bill is over $100.00 which I find to be upsetting a restaurant job is to serve the people and get paid for what you order or consume and not get paid or penalized for ordering over $100.00 .....this type of service has always turned me away restaurant have forgotten that it's the type of service that your waiter or waitress provides that determines whether or not you even deserve a tip ....so I tend to stay away from these types of restaurants I found this out the hard way after spending over $150.00 and20% was added to my bill......I will however continue to go to 247 but it will be only on days when my kids are not with us . read more

This place is a disgrace to our community. Low quality meat for the barbecue. Looks like a junk pile.

So we went Sunday afternoon. We've never been before. It's actually pretty good. My wife and I shared a large chili cheese fries. The fries were crispy with plenty of chili and cheese. They were hot and had great flavor. I had the Tri-tip and it was tender with good flavor. It came with corn and pinto beans. I actually wish the beans were a sweet barbecue flavor but still good. My wife had the jalapeño ranch bacon burger. Plenty of toppings on it, good flavor. The atmosphere is what you would expect. I don't know why some people get all cranky over it. Been hearing about this place for a while. The food was average. Didn't like the fact that they charged 20% gratuity for when you order $100 or more worth of food when we order, pay, pick up our own food when they call you and throw away our own trash when done (don't mind doing this on Tom's style restaurant). We ordered 3 burgers and a hot dog our bill come to $112.00. Because our bill was over $100 the cashier said she had to charge 20% gratuity fee. Which I have only had to pay at sit down restaurants when you have a large party. Keep in mind you order your own food there at the cashier and there are no waitresses that come to your table and you have to throw away your own food. I went there this morning to use there facility, and instantly fell in love with the place. I unfortunately could stay too long so I could sit and eat anything else from the menu, but I did order the Oreo churros, and they were the best churro I ever had ( I don't normally like Oreos). I am definitely returning another tim when in town and trying some other menu items. There prices were extremely reasonable, and the fifteen minutes there people were coming in. Driven past here 100s of times and the smell their smoker forced me to pull over. We had the 1/4 rack of pork ribs just to get a taste and a bucket of beers to wash it down. HANDS DOWN best ribs I've ever had. I lived in the Midwest so I've had my share of amazing BBQ. They were super tender and juicy. I could not pick up a bone without the meat sliding right off. It was sooo tender and juicy. Didn't even need sauce! The sauce was really good but could use a little kick. But like I said, the meat doesn't even sauce!!! As popular as this place seems to be, I don't think they have exceptional food. They are very pricy and the food is just ok. I have not eaten their BBQ yet so I may change my mind if I ever do. This restaurant is actively discouraging mask wearing. They have a sign saying that the governor is an idiot and you don't have to wear a mask. So about half the people ordering inside where not wearing a mask. I actually saw a man approach a customer outside and explain to him that he need not wear a mask that it wasn't something they believed in. The gentleman took his mask off! How sad and shameful! Coming back from Big Bear and we were looking to get our grub on and we found this little gem. I ordered the Jalepeno Popper Burger which was awesome. The wife got the Philly Cheesesteak and was more than satisfied while the little guy got the chicken strips and french fries(he ate it all so that was a win) We will definitely be back to try more on the extensive menu! My review of CAFE 247 is based, unfortunately, only on the display of engineering equipment in the parking lot in front. Please see my photographs of the front and back of a wagon that supports a tank. The tank is painted, and in small print you can read, "This wagon belongs to Cafe 247." The tank is also painted with the writing, "COUNTRY COOKIN AT ITS BEST! OPEN 7 DAYS. BREAKFAST (this is followed by four middle sized stars) LUNCH & DINNER (this is followed by four little stars and two huge stars). The round sides of the tank have painted lions. I was also impressed by the nearby decor taking the form of checkered flags. I have seen drag races at Infineon drag strip in Sonoma County and at Fremont raceway in Fremont, CA. Hence, I do respond positively to race cars and to racing events. My stop at CAFE 247 was during a motor trip from Joshua Tree National Park back to home in the San Francisco Bay area. In passing through Lucerne Valley, my journey was along Route 247 (hence the name of the cafe). I had previously made 23 trips to Joshua Tree, as well as 7 trips to Death Valley, but this was my first stop at Lucerne Valley. read more

This place has a good desert bbq vibe to it. There is plenty of outdoor seating, and sometimes a local band is playing. This establishment is fine for children and unpretentious people of any age or creed. I don't drink beer, but they have bucket specials all the time. Most of the food I have tried is fried in some way. Standard bar food varieties. I have never had a chance to try the bbq because they are always sold out. This was a frequent spot for Mad Mike and his Rocket, that used to be out front all the time. O.K that should say everything right there. That being said the high desert is it's own place- and the people that live here know it. If you show up with a frown you will be greeted with a smile. Notice: when you come to the high dez you will get a "don't-tread-on-me" vibe that symbolizes opposition to oppression. I don't shame anyones free speech and don't understand why so many people do. read more

Do NOT come here if you want to visit a restaurant that is actually using CDC restaurant safety guidelines. The owners obviously do not care about their customers health. This was my first restaurant to visit after the Phase two opening.I specifically wanted to spend my money at a Mom and Pop restaurant to support the reopening. I placed my order by phone and they told me I had to go in to pay for it. When I went in, the gal at the counter did not have in a face covering and there was no protective shield. I assumed they would have a touch free system to pay. Nope- the girl took my debit card and slid it into the machine right in front of me. Why would they not have me insert my own card? Then, I wondered if the people in the kitchen used personal protective equipment? So, I popped my head around to look and I saw two cooks in the kitchen standing next to each other. Neither of them had face coverings or gloves while preparing the food. One of the unmasked cooks was holding a sandwich about 10 inches from his face as he was looking at it to see if it was prepared properly. And, while he held the open sandwich about 10 inches from his face, he was talking to the cook next to him. I was immediately concerned if it was safe to eat there. After not eating out for three months, this was not the first experience I wanted to have to visit a restaurant in Stage two opening. In the future I will only spend money at Mom and Pop places that respect the health and safety of the people spending their money at their restaurant. I will never go back. read more
