We stopped by here on a Thursday evening for dinner after arriving in Amsterdam for a few nights. I tried the gluten free Pizza Di Parma and loved it. My partner had the tomato soup with bread and also the house speciality Spaghetti Al Parmigiano Reggianno. He loved the soup and liked the spaghetti. They use something to light the inside of a large wheel of cheese on fire to melt and then add the pasta in and mix. For him, it had too much of a ingering taste of the alcohol in his spaghetti he didn't care for. Also, they have a vast Gluten free menu and as are a lot of restaurants in Europe, well informed about allergies and Celiac Disease. Services was great and I would eat here again! read more

What a magnificent find after a long day of walking in Amsterdam. We had excellent salads and the owner made us Sgroppino. A wonderful Italian digestive with Prosecco, limoncello and vanilla ice cream. Definitely a magnificent place. read more

I enjoyed my meal here. A friend recommended a spot down the street but I wanted more ambiance so I wandered around and sat down at 2 Italian spots. One was dead as a door nail and no one helped me, the other was weird and almost next door. I went here and they were slammed but accommodated me. Oh I am rather disappointed. Especially considering the reviews that precede mine - clearly we had an off day. Maybe that is down to the aimless wandering that preceded our dinner, or that I wasn't really hungry, or maybe that I would've much preferred maybe Mexican or dutch food that night... who knows. We went in and were seated at a round table for four people. No effort was made to help us get the extra chair that we required as we were a party of five. The interior is nice, there is a mezzanine level, and has an almost intimate flair (ruined by loud people at adjacent tables). It took the staff a long, long time to come over purely to order our drinks - mind you, I think the majority of us were rather indecisive when it came to choosing our food, but waiting around for such a long time did get old rather quickly. I decided to order the pizza frommaggio - essentially a posh version of a margarita pizza because it has a mixture of Italian cheeses. It was decent. I hated the base and the crust - usually the crust is what I enjoy most, and I will leave it to last, or in case I'm not able to finish the entire pizza, I will at least aim to eat the crust (this dates back to my childhood, where I would always eat my mothers pizza crust. She loves me). At la Piazza, however, there was no way I was going to eat the crust. It was terrible. It was thing but not crisp, it just wasn't right. Nor did it taste like anything. Carolyn E let me try some of her bread with garlic butter - there was no garlic in the butter, and there was a strange sweetness or some random spice that was strange. I am sure that had I been in a mood for itallian food, or let alone any kind of food, this review might have gone differently. However, based purely on the waiting staff (key word here is waiting), and the chef (?) person who holds eye contact for just too long and the disappointing pizza, I'm not going to rush back when I'm back in Amsterdam. read more

This Italian restaurant was just perfect. I came across it at random while searching for places to eat in Amsterdam and the Gluten free options made this an easy choice for me. Charming atmosphere and amazing food; my husband and I had no complaints. I had the GF ravioli which was a real treat because I have not had the fortune of eating a ravioli in many years. It was delicious. My husband had the tortellini and was blown away by how tasty it was. I tried his sauce and wow! It was just so perfectly balanced and flavorful. If you are looking for authentic Italian food and a cozy atmosphere this is your place. The Gluten Free menu is surprisingly large, even including several deserts. Not much atomosphere, but very clean. Even the bathrooms on a busy Friday night were clean. My husband had the calamari as an appetizer and wouldn't repeat it. He felt that it was a bit bland and too chewy. For dinner he just had a pepperoni pizza which he did enjoy and would repeat. I have to eat gluten free and was very lucky that they offered lasagna as an option! It was a very generous serving. Served very hot and cheesy. I thought it could use a bit more flavor, but no problem I just added some salt. I would definitely return to this restaurant and recommend it especially for those who are gluten free. read more

Tuna is listed at 17 euros outside and 21 euros inside, go check it dear owner instead of loosing your time on facebook criticizing your customer´s opinions! There are more than 1300 cafes and restaurants in Amsterdam. Yet, when we find a great dining experience, especially as American tourists visiting Amsterdam, we should revisit the establishment during a stay in Amsterdam. - like I did. The Italian food at Cafe Piazza was incredibly fresh. The service was friendly and accommodating. In the U.S. we tend forget what a real cooked-to-order meal is really like. The crispy bread appetizer was freshly baked. It is served with a wonderful tapenade and seasoned garlic butter. The prosciutto appetizer comes with pear slices, and goes perfect with the bread, your taste buds will appreciate the treat! The Caprese salad is drizzled with a lovely olive oil, and they glady bring you a small bottle of balsamic to drizzle upon the tomatoes and mozzarella. I tried the Pasta Arrabiata on my first night, and the Pasta Putenesca on my return visit. Both times, each noodle was hot and freshly cooked. The pasta sauces were just right. I thank Agata, the friendly, hard-working owner for chatting with me as I was sipping on an excellent bottle of Sangiovese. By the way, the house Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is wonderful too. Cafe Piazza is an affordable, unforgettable meal, and an Amsterdam dining experience in a cozy simple place! I hope to return someday! read more

The best meal and service we've had in Amsterdam! The wait staff was excellent (especially the young man from Poznan!). I have Celiac Disease so must be gluten free. The staff asked as they were seating us if we have any food allergies. They have a gluten free menu with many options for each course - appetizers, main dishes and deserts.
