    Spring rolls and ratatouille pie
    Laurie C.

Pros: special vegan food prepared fresh daily, feels homey, easy to find, good location Cons: limited options, could be a long wait Made reservation on Facebook night before for 12:30pm (opening time) the next day...they left a reply that that would be ok. Good move as they filled up almost immediately after opening. Sat inside at sweet window table with fresh hydrangeas. Choice of 3 entrees today, all served with assortment of tiny vegan salad samples. We had the spring roll (best ever hands down) and the ratatouille pie (also amazing). Service was slow as the French always are, and we were able to relax and not feel rushed despite the demand. Fresh unsweetened hibiscus, ginger and orange juice made upon ordering downstairs...delicious!! Trio du jour for dessert tasted like a gourmet s'more! Wish today was not our last in Paris so we could come back again soon. =(

What can I say but yum! I can't remember exactly what it was that we had but I believe it was lasagna. Wonderful flavors so I wish I had the recipe. The main dish was surrounded by various pickled veggies like beets, cucumbers, carrots, cabbage along with lentils 2 ways, tabbouleh. It was just a feast of different tastes and textures. We dined there our last day in Paris or we would have been back many times to sample their other dishes. The hours of operation are short so make sure to plan ahead and be there early as some entrees sell out early.

Perfect teeny spot for a vegan meal! Adorable cafe, basic but super yummy vegan food, lovely juice. I would return for sure. Sweet owner, very helpful, wonderful service. Great location if around Bastille! Perfect healthy lunch. No frills, loved it.

    Lunch plate with Spring Roll

Friendly staff and great food. For lunch, there were three choices, and each came on the same place of other vegetables. The day we were there, the choices were lasagna, tarte or spring roll. We had the tarte and spring roll. Small portions of a lot of different things. Personally, I liked them all!

Cute little vegan organic restaurant. Got here right before closing at 3:30, but they squeezed me in. Unfortunately the juice machine was already cleaned but the spring roll dish was fantastic.

Complete healthy, fresh and vegan plate, with raw and cooked veggies and gluten-free spinach turnovers.

Delicious vegan food in the center of Paris, right next to the famous Place de la Bastille. I love the big complete plate they make. You have a perfect combinaison of veggies and meals. I like the juices too !

    Best tart

The tarts!! I came here just to try the tarts that I kept seeing in pictures and they are as good as they look :D I had a mushroom (marinated to perfection) with mash potatoes one and there was a layer of caramelized onions inside that was FAN-TASTIC. The crust was really good for a gluten free one, but not going to lie that I obviously I prefer a buttery flaky pie crust (who doesn't right?!). It came on a dish with a bunch of different salads and I have to say that none of them were particularly interesting (sol semilla is the BEST in Paris for these vegan assorted plates that are popular now). Each different "salad" was about a table spoon size minus the actual salad with lettuce leaves. But honestly who cares about the vegan plate because you will come for the tarts!

This is the veggie crumble with a bevy of different salads and sides. The juice is carrot, apple, and fennel.

We found this restaurant by searching on Yelp for a Gluten Free restaurant near Place de Bastille. We were very lucky that we arrived when we did as we were able to reserve a table for when they opened. If you don't have a reservation you probably won't be able to get a table. However, you will be able to get food to take away. Everything they serve is organic, fresh, and prepared by them. They are quite friendly and very helpful with any questions you might have. This is a Vegan restaurant that happens to have some Gluten Free choices. I happen to have Celiacs and Gastroparesis so although the Gluten Free part was great the fact that most of the food was raw was bad for me. I was unable to eat just about everything on my plate which is sad as it is such beautiful food.

A favorite restaurant hidden on a side street from Bastille. It's quaint and comfortable and everything is bio & homemade.

A few other parties trickled in through the course of our meal. The menu has many appealing dishes but after narrowing everything down, GF ordered the onion soup and seitan bourguignon. I ordered a vegan "roast" with the side of potatoes. I'm not going to bullshit you, nobody is going to confuse this onion soup for the real deal but once you get past that, it was absolutely excellent. You're hearing this from someone who doesn't like onions or beef broth. I wanted to just try it but ended up funneling half of it down my gullet. The roast was pretty good, as were the potatoes and what I assume was a creamy cauliflower "salad" like side. It was nothing earth shattering but enjoyable and I really appreciated having a vegan meal considering the vast majority of the offerings in this city. Regarding the beef bourguignon, GF says: "it was very tasty". I will add that the service was...just ok. It was pretty quick and prompt but in stark contrast to the welcoming and friendly service received elsewhere in the city.

On the other hand, it made me realize that my mother was a terrible cook. Bistro des Augustins is a small, cozy venue offering both indoor seating and terrace seating near Pont Neuf. It serves a small number of curated dishes, including a wonderfully traditional Bistro Gratin in a homey ceramic dish served piping hot with a brown crispy cheesy top, herbs, spices and chicken. You can also get it with salmon. My brothers and I only saw my mother use our gas range to light her cigarettes, sanitize needles to remove our splinters, and make s'mores during the summer months when she couldn't muster the energy to take us 'outside camping.' I mean, all she had to do was borrow a cookbook, which I'm sure were readily available from maybe a neighbor or in any local bookstore or the public library. How hard is that? I was the only kid who brought a can of tuna and his own monogrammed can opener to school every day. Every day. And mom convinced me that the tuna holster she got me for my birthday was cool and hip. I was a naive mercury-filled fool, although I did become a very fast runner in junior high school because of the tuna holster. The interior décor of Bistro des Augustins is informal and vintage bistro style - wooden tables, traditional chalkboard menus, and soft lighting - creating a relaxed and comfy ambiance. My eyes have been opened to what's possible. Thank you Bistro des Augustins for expanding my culinary horizons. Five stars.

Didn't blow me away, but was solid with the creaminess of the sliced potatoes and emmental cheese combined together with mixed vegetables. The cheese was very strong though, so anything else was unfortunately pretty much overpowered by it. Arrived with bread, but it DEFINITELY could use other carb options to sop it all up (e.g., rice???)! = Landais - Cheese gratin with duck. Same comment as the above, except the Landais had egg and goat cheese also mixed in with almost the same ingredients as the Fermier. THE SERVICE ----------------------- + The lone waitress, who also worked the role as greeter, cashier and bartender was friendly. + Food arrived within 10 minutes of ordering. THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------------ = Small, tight restaurant. = Not many tables inside - 6 in total. + Located a few blocks away from the more touristy restaurants, towards the East, on a much quieter street. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Nada.

I had the Brittany scallops in a pesto and citrus dressing topped with parmigiana reggiano - absolutely amazing! However, it is definitely overshadowed by the rich flavor of the foie gras. This experience was unforgettable, with our view of Parisian streets on a brisk, April night. They had a number of goods to choose from and I ended up buying a few things for souvenirs. As for the actual restaurant, they had a number of delicious sounding items on their menu. Our server was very attentive to us and helped us decide on our dinner orders. Similar to the other restaurants though. After our food was delivered, it was far in between when we were checked on again. And after dessert it took even longer for our server to bring the bill. Overall, the food was a letdown. I do not exaggerate when I say that the frog legs just tasted like slightly flavored water. My friend's ravioli had a fairly decent flavored sauce but the pasta was a bit chewy. My friend's duck breast was pretty tough; I had noticed the table next to us also ordered it and they seemed to have trouble finishing/cutting theirs as well. As for my steak with foie gras, well the steak was once again tough and the foie gras was weirdly stringy. It was soft for the most part but there were parts that were tough and stringy. Maybe that's a section that's generally separated in the preparation process and it was missed? In any case it was disappointing. What wasn't disappointing was dessert though; perfectly sweet and balanced.
