Who ever gave to sad restaurant a positive review was incorrect at best. The food was tolerable the management /service were poor.

Good breakfast, good coffee. They have a few booths otherwise you'll need to share a table adjacent to others. It feels like a community table but it was fine. One funny incident; I asked my waitress if they could scramble my eggs soft, and she said, "Eggs are always soft." I couldn't argue. . Plenty of street parking. read more

Service is good. But I think you guys need to follow better COVID-19 health protocols. I was seated at the same table with another group. I don't know these people and they are not social distanced from me. I can smell both the woman's and the man's strong perfume/cologne. Café 8 is a family style café serves all day breakfast. The owner is from Taiwan and she ran her café previously in Langley for 13 years before moving to White Rock. She cares about customers and keeps good relationship with her customers. There are two couples keep going to her café every single day for 13 years although she moved to new location. Food is good. Smoked Salmon Egg Benedict is my favour. Sister ordered the Two Two Two. Oh, by the way, if you ever go there, you must try their hash brown. It's very crispy and fresh made everyday. Great selection of straightforward breakfast/brunch items, done well, and well priced. Family run, so that lends to it feeling relaxed and genuine. Had the Bacon, mushroom, cheese omlette. Well balanced ample trio of ingredients, no skimping like other places might do. Egg itself was a proper omlette eright, thin and light. Hashbrowns were a perfect combo crispy and moist. Sourdough bread the real deal, not cheap loaf kind. One of the staff, assuming the owner's son, great with the elderly patrons, gentle and patient, and thoughtful to their possible specific diet needs, says so much about... Impressed. read more

Clean, prompt service, family owned. The nicest asian family. Average pricing. So many options. Fluffy pancakes, crispy hasbrowns, crispyi bacon, amazing hollandaise sauce. They even crisped my english muffin for the eggs benny. Scambked eggs are nice. Sausages are great and finished my meal with orange slices. I heard the fresh fruit rotates though. Small. Quaint. Quick service lots of choices. Probably the best homemade pancake I've ever had. How do they do it? Is it baked in butter?? It's so good I've had their pancakes, eggs, bennies, sausage, hot chocolate, pie. It's solid brunch fair. I love it. I come here over wooden spoon now because of price and tastiness Not too busy. But I've noticed main customers are elderly. The elderly sometimes treat the staff rudely but the staff is always kind and compassionate. Stopped in for breakfast today. Had the "two two two". Typical breakfast fare... Eggs over easy, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, toast, half an orange, shredded hash browns. Service good, food was good! Nothing exceptional, but.. it was bacon and eggs! No complaints except the coffee i thought was poor. It reminded me of how coffee used to be in diners 20 years ago, before we all got spoiled with great coffee these days. I mentioned it to my server (who i presume was an owner). Her response was that she had been using the same coffee for the last fifteen years. Precisely! So, while i enjoyed the food, unless i didn't want coffee, i wouldn't go back for breakfast, because I want a good cup of coffee! Too bad. No complaints other than that. read more

Great food, and prices. Prompt service. Great place to go for breakfast......however.......Manager/owner is absolutely horrible to her staff. Both times my gf and I have been there for breakfast we've been witness to a tantrum by the women in charge. The last time there, there was a server who was obviously new. She put her down and yelled at her in front of customers. VERY bad behavior for someone to treat an employee as such. Calling her garbage and stupid. Later, obviously the employee had had enough or she was being fired or quitting in the back. A scream fight ensued for all to hear. I felt bad for the women who was the employee. One couple who had just arrived, got up and left. When the owner came back out, she was talking to her cook about the now former employee for all to hear. Speaking in her native language of Mandarin which my gf also speaks. Very unprofessional. It's too bad. Probably won't be back. read more

Came here with my bro as the place we wanted to eat at had disappeared. Cafe 8 has the feel of a family run shop. Good variety on the menu, and pleasant servers. I had the standard burger and fries and found it to be very large, thin patty, good slice of tomato, lots of goo! Fries okay, not home cut. Bro's eggs and toast came with dry toast, no butter. Taste was okay, just missing on a few points - dry toast, step ladder in the restroom, dust bunnies in the rest room. Cafe 8 is a popular spot, it was full on a Sunday morning and the breakfast special seemed to be most popular. read more

Wow! The restaurant is very clean and nicely decorated. The servers could not have been kinder it harder working! I mean it. The prices are cheap and food is great. I'm definitely coming back. I had the clubhouse which was made with real turkey and good mayo. My lovely wife had the eggs benny and both were excellent. I moved to white rock a year ago and slowly started looking for a place to get breakfast. Doing the rounds waiting to find the right place to call home. Six months ago we tried Cafe 8 and its been home sweet home ever since. The food is good. The family running the place is very friendly. The place is clean, bright, and nicely done. To the person who gave 3 stars because her coffee wasn't perfect, I would say - if you told the owner, she'd have made a fresh pot - as she has done for me on a couple of occasions - even right at closing time. - and really - 3 stars even though you say everything else was good.. just the coffee... wow - I will be there again and again. This was my first time trying cafe 8, and was totally unimpressed.. we ordered the daily omelette special, and found what was clearly a hair in it ! We waived down the manager and showed her, while she ran back to the kitchen, she came back to our table and told us it was a potato fibre . They offered to then make us another one, but we declined. Then after receiving the bill, the order was still on there, even though I ate a third of the plate. She asked us if everything was okay, we were stunned to see no adjustment to the bill.. then we asked for some kind of compensation due to the fact THERE WAS A HAIR IN MY OMELETTE.. she made a big deal then she's like "okay, because I feel bad 50% off for you". Very clean. Simple fare but well done. Very polite staff. Coffee was very good. We each ordered eggs Benedict. Mine had smoked salmon and his had bacon. Very crispy hash browns were fantastic. Solid breakfast at a very reasonable price. Only downside was the antiseptic smell from the cleaners used and the yellow lighting wasn't my favorite. My buddy and I have been going to Café 8 almost every Saturday morning since it opened a couple of years ago. Before that, we went to her restaurant in Langley - until they moved. Excellent breakfast. The French Toast is melt in your mouth good. It takes a few extra minutes to prepare, but you are warned about that when you order. Good coffee too! Can get a little slow when the place is full, (hey, it is a small kitchen!) but good food is worth waiting for! Great value, and you are supporting a local business! read more

Not just unsatisfactory food, some of the worst service I have ever received in a restaurant. I myself have been in the same industry for over 17 years, and I have never given or received "service" quite like this. I went for breakfast with my folks and I was unsatisfied when I looked down to see my bacon was deep-fried, my sausage patties were deep fried, and we shredded hashbrowns were also deep fried. When I alerted my server, who I also think it's one of the owners, that I wasn't satisfied with my breakfast, she began to argue me. She then took my whole plate into the kitchen and I heard her throw it down and speak with the cook. She did not come back to see if I wanted anything else, so I sat there hungry while my parents finished their food. When it came to pay the bill, the lady slammed the bill down then lobbed the debit machine at my dad, in which he asked if she was mad at him. She only offered a dirty look and said nothing. I then came to take a look at the bill to see if she had charged me for breakfast, and I was shocked to see that she had charged me for the eggs. Eggs that were on my plate that she took away that I did not get to eat. And I question her on this she began to yell at me telling me this is how they make breakfast and if I wasn't happy with it it was too bad for me, so then I began to argue back that I would have liked something else but she never asked, this argument got so heated the cook came around the corner wielding his spatula in the air yelling at me, so I began to yell back, I told them this was absolutely unacceptable service and we would never be back again. They told me to get the F#*k out and called me a dirty girl repeatedly. (I'm 39) My mother was in shock as was my father. Wow. My girlfriend said she read good reviews of this place on facebook. We tried it today she had the house special I had the bacon cheese and mushroom omelette. Service was great, we were complemented on our cute baby. The food however was far away from the "home style cooking" the sign outside said they specialized in. Deep fried hash browns, home fries, bacon and sausage. My "home" does not contain a deep fryer. The canned mushrooms in the omelette created a pool of oily juice that the deep fried bacon bits could not fully absorb. The pancakes were tough box mix sponges. Decent coffee. I politely complemented the server but also expressed my confusion with the home style cooking claim with all the deep frying but was told they "can't please everyone" and "we've been doing the same thing for 13 years". Who am I to argue with that logic. She also said if I don't like deep frying I could let her know and they'll make it special but I don't think we'll be returning; or installing a deep fryer in our house... read more
