Well, everything Marty B does is amazing and this new Texican restaurant is no different. The margaritas are top-notch and be sure to try that $45 one! We had cheese enchiladas and soft tacos with beef fajita meat. All entrées were excellent and their Charro beans are about a 12 out of 10. We ordered the brownie dessert which is more like chocolate cake, but it was ginormous and probably big enough for at least four people, maybe six. They're working on their outdoor patio, which will probably be open by the time I finish this post. Be sure to check them out and I'm sure with it being a new restaurant there's going to be a wait. Went here for a blind date. We sat at the bar to wait for our table, and we ended up staying at the bar. The tall young man, I believe his name was Elliott, was so kind and personable. Every single employee was amazing! Juan took care of us later and suggested a frozen chocolate drink with whipped cream. We ordered it and waited, and waited, and waited, and finally realized the restaurant had closed and it was almost 11pm. We got busy chatting, waiting for our order, but we had cashed out and I guess they forgot about us. it was nice they did not come and rush us off, but we wanted what we ordered. Marty B's has some of the very best restaurants ever, so I count this as a slight oversight. I attempted to call the establishment for a week after our visit, but they d not open until later in the day, and I am busy with friends and family that time of the evening. Our favorite appetizer is a poblano queso and the dessert to die for is the pistachio caramel ice cream pie. I've only ordered here to go but even after a 20 min drive home, the food tasted so fresh and good. My husband and I split fajitas and had leftovers for a whole other meal, the portions were fantastic! Being part of the Marty B family, we expected high quality and taste but it exceeded our expectations. It was a bit pricey for basic Mexican food but the taste was on par with Marty B's quality. Food and mixed drinks were good altho extremely overpriced for Mexican food. Chicken enchiladas or Quesadillas should not count $20+. Basic house margarita is tasty but $9 for a very small glass! No happy hour prices on drinks or bar bites either is a deterrent compared to other competing establishments. Restaurant is very loud and tables / booths are small and cramped. Not a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a meal with friends & family. The service was excellent, with a lot of staff but almost too much. I understand it's a new footprint for this chain of restaurants owned by Marty and his partners, and trying to draw business from the surrounding neighborhoods in the growing area of Argyle, but its a little too pretentious / expensive for the average family to frequent on a regular basis. read more

Good food. Long wait Saturday so we went to the bar. Everything is expensive and while good they have food a less expensive Mexican restaurant could do you well. Drunks are good but not regular prices. This is a top notch place and the looks are fine. Parking is huge and line was an hour plus at 6 pm. Go on a weekday. Fish was a red snapper covered with a read sauce that detracted from the flavor of fish. The appetizers we good and you should try them and stop. read more

The ambiance is nice but if I'm paying $27 for enchiladas they better be extraordinary. Have not tried their drinks but would assume the value is just as bad. The food was delicious & an upgrade for Tex-Mex in the area. But the service was outstanding. Our waiter, Bryce, was very pleasant & went out of his way to make our visit enjoyable. One of our party ordered the tacos & found the beef lacking in flavor. When she shared that with Bryce he promptly summoned the assistant manager, Seth. Seth went and taste-tested the taco meat, apologized & agreed that it was pretty bland & not up to their standards. He said that this would be corrected immediately. And then they unexpectedly brought a 2nd taco plate in a take-out package. Also, they served us a free-of-charge delicious chocolate martini for the table. We tried Cactus Canyon for the first time last night, and everything was great. The food was really good (a little pricey for Tex-Mex, but very good), ambiance was very nice even if a little loud, and the service was outstanding. We had the stuffed poblano and filet enchiladas. While the enchiladas were very good, the poblano stole the show. It was outstanding. Our waiter was also very attentive, the restaurant was well stocked with runners, and managers were around checking on and visiting with everyone there. You can tell when a restaurant is well run because the staff here were working their butts off and not just standing around like we've experienced lately at other nice restaurants. They also aren't walking around asking you what you need...they see something you need and they just take care of it. One tip for anyone wanting to try them, use their waitlist feature on their website before you head up there to save you time. This place has a wait for a reason. Use their waitlist function so you don't have to sit around at the restaurant. Great visit.....We'll certainly be back! read more

Although their overall star rating shows 4.1 some of the reviews made me have mixed feelings about trying it. When I tell you this was one of the most delicious meals i have ever eaten and with a perfect relaxing atmosphere I have been to in a while, please listen! The waiter, Herbie was absolutely a gem! We have been 4 times and had excellent experiences each time. Marty visited us on two of the occasions and asked for our feedback which was a nice touch. Love the atmosphere on the patio, especially when it's a bit cold out and they have all the heaters on with a cozy fire in the fireplace. The beef fajitas are my fav and my husband typically orders the carne asada which was off menu at the time. No complaints! We would, however, love it if they had an on-menu specialty Tex Mex style steak perhaps accompanied with a cheese enchilada of sorts. Their guacamole appetizer is excellent too (and we are picky about our guacamole). Our service has always been fun yet professional even when they were going through minor growing pains upon opening. Yes, it would be nice if they could fix the amplified sound inside somehow, but we like the patio anyway. Overall love it and will return!! read more

We ate there tonight for the first time with a group of 14 (5 toddlers LOL) and our service was amazing! We had Karlee and a gentleman, wish we could remember his name to give a well deserved shout out. But everything was amazing! We went for the 2nd time tonight with some friends who wanted to try it. Here is our experience.... 1- I went to order drinks at the bar while we waited for our table and I ordered a Michelada. Bartender said he didn't have the ingredients to make it. When we got our table, I asked the waiter if that was true and he said NO, they can make it. Ended up being ok. 3/5 2 - When the waiter came by to take our drink order, which is when I ordered the Michelada, he took my half full margarita thinking I was done with it. 3 - After ordering drinks we were all about fed up with the noise. Horrible. You can't have a conversation without yelling. They need to hang some fabrics from the ceiling and on the walls to cut down on the volume. 0/5 4 - We ordered the Queso Blanco. That was decent, along with the chips and salsa 4/5. 5 - Again, just like our initial visit, the food was average. Our rice was undercooked and crunchy. Charro beans were a little bland. 3/5 Atmosphere was nice, but the noice makes it unbearable and difficult to relax and have a conversation over dinner. Upscale prices, but not upscale experience. Overall, I don't think I'll be returning unless they make some changes. Not nearly worth the prices for food that isn't as good as other Tex-Mex in the area. read more

First time at this newer Mexican food spot. It's a Marty B property, so it's definitely a different level than your usual run of the mill Tex mex. We sat at the bar, and started with a couple of cocktails. The "not a Karen Rita" was awesome, although a little pricey at $16. Not a complaint, as you kind of know what you're getting into with drink prices around here. We skipped appetizers and went straight to entrees. Cheese enchiladas were great, with a chili sauce that really pops. It's not your typical out of a can sauce. You can tell it's made with care. We also had the fish tacos, but changed it to grilled vs fried. They were excellent as well. The restaurant is pretty dimly lit, so be forewarned. The bartender had to shine a bar light on our food to make sure it was right. Once again, not a complaint, and it made the place very intimate. We will definitely be returning, as the ceviche is going to need a testing. read more

We arrived just a bit before the dinner rush, so there was no wait for seating (you may have an hour or more wait if you come during peak dinner). Got there at 5:00 and parking lot was full. Was able to get a table for two very quickly. Was surprised when we walked in because it's painted black inside. Usually Mexican restaurants are colorful. It's very nice and very upscale. Service was very good and helpful. Was expecting the food to be more upscale too but unfortunately it wasn't. My husband had a bowl of chicken tortilla soup and he said it was good but not as good as Reata in downtown Fort Worth. I had a taco plate. Two small tacos and some beans and rice. Did I mention it's also expensive. My taco plate was $19. The taco meat didn't have any flavor or seasoning . Just cooked hamburger meat. I've had so much better at Taco Bueno for a lot less money. We have eaten at Cactus Canyon twice since they open and look forward to many more visits. The first visit was a little rough, but manager Nick took amazing care of us. All the food was excellent, the Poblano Queso was the best I have had. We ordered it both visits, it will be a must every time we go. The cheese enchiladas was some of the best I have had in a long time. The prices are more expensive than some places around, but the quality of the food and the service are top notch. Enjoyed dinner tonight at the newly opened Cactus Canyon in Argyle. The service was outstanding and the food was very good. It is Tex/Mex but with some unusual offerings. The salsa was excellent and was served very warm, which really added flavor and enjoyment. I had the cheese enchiladas with a nice carne sauce and the option of mexican rice or cilantro rice. I had the cilantro rice which was a nice alternative to normal mexican rice. Also I had the charro beans which were some of the best I have had definitely 5 star. A very generous portion and thick gravy. The Margarita was great. I Highly recommend the Cactus Canyon. 4 1/2 stars only because the queso was a little thick and not very warm. The Case at Cactus Canyon I was driving along the 407 when hunger hit. I needed a fix of Tex-Mex and found the Cactus Canyon. The staff greeted me immediately upon entering the restaurant. Very kind and smiling. The ambiance immediately struck me. The modern contemporary art and deco is well done. I was standing at the intersection of classy and elegant. After I was seated, the waiter wasted no time tending to my request for chips, salsa, and a beer. Already, I felt welcomed and appreciated. The salsa is served warm and has a patented Tex-Mex kick. Chips were not served in crumbs. This was already too good to be true. My suspicions only grew. I was then greeted by the General Manager, Kay Smith, who gave me a tour of the restaurant. My investigation uncovered that Kay is an accomplished chef. Her leadership skill made it clear she was one of the ringleaders. A prime suspect. I ordered the Tacos Al Carbon, which I received in minimal time. A sign that the kitchen is operating like a Swiss watch. My meal was nothing short of WOW!! How could such bold flavor be created? I savored the joy this dish added to my dining experience. After I completed the masterpiece, I was approached by the Bar Manager, Nick, who provided me with a sample of the Chorizo Mac and Cheese. An obvious attempt to take me off the trail. I accepted and happily lost the trail. This was delicious. Everything about this restaurant is amazing. All of my questions were answered, and the case was closed. I discovered what makes this restaurant exceptional. It is the food prep, the decor, and most important, the people. We arrived with a very short window of time to be seated, served and eat. It was approximately 6pm when we walked in and my daughter explained to the host that we needed to leave at 6:30 and we were willing to do take out if that wasn't possible. It was!!! The staff was told at all levels and made it known they were going to accomplish this, which they did. All with an attitude of we're glad you're here and want to make this a wonderful meal. My daughter and her husband are vegetarians and when they ordered something that had pieces of bacon (without realizing it) our waiter quickly informed them so they could make an informed decision. I had an appetizer only and it came out at the same time as everyone else's so we could all eat simutalenously. Of course, we were there for the food and it didn't disappoint. The salsa that came out with the chips was more hearty than we're used to and it was spicy on the back end. The chips were not the thin ones I'm used to and held the salsa. The two enchiladas that we had and the Texican Egg Rolls were delicious, filling and made us want more. It was a little dark in the restaurant but the atmosphere was fun and whie the prices were not high end, the experience was.
