We had such a fantastic time celebrating our best friends' 10-year-old daughter's birthday at Cactus Canyon! Our group of nine (four adults and five kids) usually makes hostesses look a little nervous when we walk in, but not here! From the moment we arrived, the entire team was warm, welcoming, and so accommodating. The manager greeted us right away and offered immediate seating options on their climate-controlled patio or indoors since another large party was wrapping up. We chose to sit inside and really appreciated how easy they made it for us. Dinner was excellent. We especially loved the warm salsa. Standout dishes were the filet enchiladas and the special that night which was the carne asada, both absolutely delicious. Their margaritas are top-notch too. Our favorite was the "Not a Karen." Our server was friendly, efficient, and gave great menu recommendations. Even other staff members passing by wished the birthday girl a happy birthday, which made it extra special. They surprised her with a dessert and a sparkling candle that had all the kids smiling from ear to ear. We left full, happy, and genuinely impressed with the hospitality. Visiting our daughter and son in law in Flower Mound and they raved about this restaurant. The look is sort of moody, low lighting, modern but rustic. Greeted and sat right away on a Sunday evening. Comfortably busy with plenty of attentive staff. We had the steak fajitas, tortilla crusted chicken, beef enchiladas and eggs rolls. The steak was some of the best we've ever had. The egg rolls were delicious. The beef enchiladas were somehow different than what we're used to and in the best way! The food was excellent! The bar manager, Nick, checked in us twice and our server was perfection. She was friendly but real, checked on us but not too much, kept the table clean and cleared empty plates right away. You can find a much much better quality Tex Mex for prices that make sense in HV and Flo Mo. there's a serious problem with restaurants now where they just see how much they can charge bc unfortunately people are still paying for it. But Who ever made this menu is part of the problem. They are a new restaurant, sad that this is the new standard. I would highly encourage people spend their dollar elsewhere. read more

Most everybody had given us the same thing... the food is good, but it's extremely expensive and busy and difficult to get in. We went at 3:30pm on a Friday and got seats at the bar, but to be fair, just barely. It's very pretty, very on brand, the service is great (seems to be a Marty thing). I was warned that this place was overpriced and I found it to be true. I am giving it 3 stars because my wife thought it was okay. The hot sauce had a very off-putting aftertaste. We could not figure out what it was but we both disliked it very much. The poblano queso also had a funky taste to it. My wife also thought it was average. My cheese enchiladas were not very warm and tasted really plain. The rice seemed underdone as some bites had grains that were crunchy. The refried beans were bland as well. I did not finish my plate even though I was still hungry. Average food with average service at a high price. Our waiter asked if everything was great when he swung by our table. I'll start with the good: Beautiful Restaurant. Great atmosphere. Terrific Service, our waitress was amazing and we even met the general manager...thanks for stopping by. Service was quick! The needs improvement: 30 minute wait on a Friday at 6 pm. Not terrible but would recommend reservations or going slightly off hours. The food: Chips and salsa were good, although I don't particularly like warm salsa. Would have preferred warmer chips and cool salsa. The Guacamole was very good and would recommend. I ordered the Birria tacos and chicken tortilla soup. The soup had a good flavor, but it was a bit thick and light on the chicken. The Birria tacos were not the flavor I expected. Being Hispanic I definitely had an idea of what these should taste like and the flavors presented were not it. The meat which was brisket was also a bit dry and tough. The refried beans were bland and did not taste like refried beans. The rice appeared to be prepackaged. I had high expectations for this lovely restaurant and was hopeful for some traditional Mexican food, but this wasn't it. I will likely go back at least one more time for a second chance. This was my first visit. Oh and very limited options if you have dietary restrictions like dairy. read more

We tried Cactus Canyon yesterday for dinner. Once we entered we were taken aback by the darkness inside the restaurant. As it was early we were quickly seated by friendly staff. After the preview of specials and features we placed our order. The beef tacos (2) were large and very good. My wife's quesadillas and tortilla soup were very good. The food was good, but it was so dark you could not see what you were eating. The place had the vibe of a martini bar and the music was traditional and not. Prices were on the high side of too high. The poor lighting was really bizarre and will be a deal killer for me. If you are going to try it, take a flashlight. read more

Walking in, we expected this to be similar to Marty B's, but it is not. The lighting is lower and the ambiance is more upscale, but the staff was exactly what we were expecting. We were warmly welcomed upon entering and immediately seated. Brice was our server and he was very warm and polite. Our drink order was delivered to our table quickly, of which my wife ordered a skinny margarita and I had the spicy. Both were solid as was to be expected. For food, I ordered the brisket Birria tacos and she had an order of pork tamales and chicken tortilla soup. Our kids had the chicken strips. All our food was very good and I'd give the adult meals a solid A-. The only issue any of us had was the soup is slightly under salted. That being said, both the tamales and tacos were top notch. Excellently seasoned, well cooked and the presentation was great. We were talked into dessert (though it didn't take much arm twisting once the options were explained) and ordered the 5-layer ice cream and cheesecake. My daughter and I preferred the cheesecake while my wife and son preferred the ice cream. Although both were phenomenal and I would recommend either. We are typically not the type of family that orders dessert, but we wanted to give them a shot. Overall, I will say that the food is well worth it along with the atmosphere, but the highlight is the service. My wife works in the high end restaurant industry and this was a great experience. It's competitive with much more expensive restaurants and I'm very happy that this is so close to us. We will definitely be returning. My only complaints would be extremely minor, which is the lighting during the lunch service (maybe dial it up 15%) and the slightly under salted soup. We ordered to go and we arrived right at the time we were told food would be ready. After we rec'd text that our food was ready it took 20 min to get our food and when we got home it was cold. We frequent all Marty B's restaurants and we're very disappointed in the service! Hope they can either hire the right people to fix this or we won't do takeout again. read more

5 star restaurants does it again!! I've been to them all and this one does not disappoint. I never order fajitas but we came because of the highly recommended posts and reviews. We went early and the place was pretty full but we were able to get right in. Staff was friendly and able to make recommendations. This is a must for me. The interior was beautifully decorated and relaxing. Back to those fajitas- i have not stopped dreaming about those. We shared the regular beef fajitas. Well, everything Marty B does is amazing and this new Texican restaurant is no different. The margaritas are top-notch and be sure to try that $45 one! We had cheese enchiladas and soft tacos with beef fajita meat. All entrées were excellent and their Charro beans are about a 12 out of 10. We ordered the brownie dessert which is more like chocolate cake, but it was ginormous and probably big enough for at least four people, maybe six. They're working on their outdoor patio, which will probably be open by the time I finish this post. Be sure to check them out and I'm sure with it being a new restaurant there's going to be a wait. They do not take reservations. Sitting at the bar is very nice, it's gorgeous and of course you get to watch all the amazing bartenders. read more

Went here for a blind date. We sat at the bar to wait for our table, and we ended up staying at the bar. The tall young man, I believe his name was Elliott, was so kind and personable. Every single employee was amazing! Juan took care of us later and suggested a frozen chocolate drink with whipped cream. We ordered it and waited, and waited, and waited, and finally realized the restaurant had closed and it was almost 11pm. We got busy chatting, waiting for our order, but we had cashed out and I guess they forgot about us. it was nice they did not come and rush us off, but we wanted what we ordered. Marty B's has some of the very best restaurants ever, so I count this as a slight oversight. I attempted to call the establishment for a week after our visit, but they d not open until later in the day, and I am busy with friends and family that time of the evening. Drunks are good but not regular prices. This is a top notch place and the looks are fine. Parking is huge and line was an hour plus at 6 pm. Go on a weekday. Not a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a meal with friends & family. The service was excellent, with a lot of staff but almost too much.
