Absolutely incredible. I travel every week and eat at close to 1,000 restaurants a year, and Cactus Canyon is easily my #2 favorite restaurant I've ever eaten at. The atmosphere was great, the food was out of this world, and the prices were amazing for the quality and portions. Our waitress, Abigail, was fantastic -- extremely friendly, social, knowledgeable about the menu, and made the whole experience even better. We kept an eye on the waitlist but decided to arrive by 5:45 on a Saturday. That seemed to be about right since we saw the wait stack up significantly after we sat. I explained to the server we didn't have a great experience last time. She did a great job making sure our service was top shelf. I'm here to make sure you know the food was top shelf too. Nothing we ordered was on the menu. We started with a three cheese queso and our meals were the specials. The filet was delicious. Cooked to order and served with melted butter and jimmy churry on the side. Sorry. I meant chimichurri. My wife had the carne asada. Also delicious. Came out here due to a raving referral, but was only expecting a Mexican restaurant. That's an understatement. Its more like a specialized Mexican restaurant. TVs are everywhere covering all sports. It is very dark, so be prepared.it takes awhile to adjust your eyesight...Just give it a short while and then try to look at the menu. The environment inside is somewhat fancy with the large bar and dimly lit environment. The outside is a covered patio. They have fans going, especially when it's 105f outside. Does it look cool? Yep. Is it packed to capacity on the weekends? Yep. But Cactus Canyon seems to be wildly popular simply because...it's wildly popular. Visited for the first time with a friend for dinner on a Saturday evening and was shocked by the crowds. We didn't mind the 30 minute wait for a table at 5:45PM, and the three hostesses were cheerful and adorable. But man, the restaurant is all-caps LOUD. Even in a booth, we had to practically yell to carry on a conversation. For some reason, they also keep the interior very dark. Like, movie theater dark. Our server was polite and the menu has some creative apps along with tried-and-true TexMex entrees. We shared the Texas Egg Rolls as a starter and they were truly delicious. Highly recommend. But I was sorely disappointed by the beef quesadilla I ordered as a main dish. I opened the tortillas to find maybe--maybe--four ounces of fajita beef for the whole quesadilla. For $25, I was expecting it to be overflowing with beef in every bite, but it was basically a large flour tortilla with Monterrey Jack, plus one piece of raw onion and a few small shreds of meat in each quesadilla slice. The pico was good and the salsa that comes with the chips was super flavorful. I saw folks sipping on frozen margaritas that I'm sure were delish, too. But the service was just average and the food overpriced for what you get. I kind of which I could give 3.5 stars, which makes me sad because I love Marty B and I know how much he loves and supports the community in Denton county. We ventured over to Argyle today to try Cactus Canyon. We were excited because we've heard so many good things, but overall it was just average for our group. I ordered the tortilla soup. The bowl was a generous size, but it was extremely salty and a bit spicier than I expected. I love salty food, but this was a little over the top for me. One friend ordered the chicken chimichanga. The portion was huge, and she said the outside was perfectly crispy, but the chicken inside was a little dry. She did really enjoy the charro beans and rice. Another friend had the birria tacos. He said the meat was tender but felt the tacos themselves were pretty average. My husband ordered the brisket quesadillas, and those ended up getting the best review at our table. He said the brisket was tender and flavorful. My mom had the chicken nachos, which looked delicious, and she thoroughly enjoyed them. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It has a trendy, modern vibe with a darker atmosphere that we really liked. It was pretty loud during our visit, not because of the music, but I think the concrete floors make the acoustics a little challenging. Robbie was our server, and he did a great job taking care of us. I've really enjoyed the other restaurants owned by Marty B, so I hate giving this one a lower rating. Based on this visit, I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars. It wasn't a bad experience but it just didn't quite live up to the expectations we had. Food was good but quite expensive and small portioned. Vibe was, odd. Not an upscale Mexican restaurant vibe, not an upscale steakhouse vibe like 1845 Taste Texas, more foofoo like downtown Dallas (not Fort Worth) and kinda sterile, Dark but not romantic. Maybe the air conditioned patio is better. Servers were polite, but not friendly like other Marty B restaurants. Not sure the goal here but probably won't return unless I hear of a lot of changes. Oh and don't sit by the kitchen...you'll hear things you'd rather not hear! Sorry for the honest opinion. We love Marty B's and 1845 Taste Texas. Will be heading to Ponder next, early! read more

First time in as this is relatively new I believe. Beautiful space and love the interior. The under lite bare is nice. The bar does serve dinner and is good size seating. The staff was great and the service was wonderful. I had the chicken enchiladas which were great. Charro beans were great. I've driven past Cactus Canyon so many times, and I'm so glad we finally stopped in! My daughter and son-in-law were visiting from out of state, and we wanted to try somewhere new. From the moment we walked in, everything was outstanding. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the service was impeccable, and the food... wow. This isn't your typical Tex-Mex. It's Tex-Mex elevated--creative, flavorful, beautifully prepared, and unlike anything we've had before. My daughter was so impressed that she immediately called a friend who regularly hosts guests from around the world at a local conference and event venue and told her, "This is where you need to bring people if you want them to experience Texas at its best." My friends in Texas took to to have dinner at Cactus Canyon. The modern interior decor was chic, just a tab bit dark. A very night club feel for dinner. Ordered the taco al carbon, the steak was flavorful and blended well with the sauce. We had also orders the queso for appetizer that we ate up with basket full of chips. It was my birthday celebration with my kids. Food was ridiculously amazing! It started with the queso with filet in it! Wow! We had 4 different people come up and wish me a happy birthday... Chicken bone in chimichanga - discovered in my mouth after taking a bite. Not good. Prices are super inflated for food that was almost as good as other local Texmex places. Searched for local restaurants since we are moving to the area and came across Cactus Canyon!! I was going to join the wait list ahead of time but there was no wait. When we arrived, we were seated. Inside is dimly but nice decor. Service was great - our server told us the off menu specials. We had the egg roll starter such was really good. I got the frozen espresso martini and hubby got a margarita. Both were really good - I'm not a big drinker and the martini definitely had me a little giddy, lol!!! Between the four of us, we had the brisket quesadillas, fajita beef quesadillas, enchiladas, and chimichanga. Everyone enjoyed their food so we ended with dessert that we all shared. Great place that gets really busy on the weekends. We called ahead to get on the list. Cocktail waitress was there to serve the people waiting and drinks came in minutes! We have enjoyed two dinners at Cactus Canyon thus far and are going again soon with friends. The ambience is stellar, especially for the location. A true hidden gem! First of all, they have one of the best margaritas around with the "not a Karen-Rita"... Cadillac marg. Their poblano queso is also a 10 out of 10. The Carne Asada was seasoned beautifully and so was the Birria consume. However, the birria meat was chunky and the Carne Asada was chewy. I had the fajita beef nachos second time around and that beef was perfect. They need to triple the amount of beans on the nachos; it was not even a smear. I'm not a big fan of their chips or their salsa, but my husband thinks they're great. (Nacho chips are different and better IMO) The bar is beautiful and we enjoyed sitting there at our second visit. Our bartender, (receipt says "fake b" as her name), was very knowledgeable about tequilas. Gannon was our server in the dining area. He's incredible! There are plenty of great young servers, hostesses, and bussers; pls tip well! They have separate allergy menus. Bit disappointed. Went there last Friday around 5:30 as a family. We were out in the back room where all the kids were. Room was filthy. Food all over the floor because that were put all the small children. Our waitress was outstanding. Food was okay. Sitting in the back killed the atmosphere. Visited Cactus Canyon early Friday evening and was impressed with everything. Service is outstanding, with multiple managers stopping by briefly to check on us without being intrusive. We had house margaritas which were sufficiently strong (and I am a professional margarita consumer ) and not too pricey. I had the beef enchiladas with charro beans (substituted for refried beans) which were fantastic with good spice. My wife had the ceviche and enjoyed it, and she is a hard grader on ceviche! The inside is very classy but I agree with other reviewers that it is quite dark inside and walking in and out of the Texas sun (cue Khruangbin IYKYK) gives your eyeballs an adjustment workout. I always love the food here, I literally always enjoy the food it's so amazing. I ate the 8oz filet is was soooooo good and juicy. Make sure to get the fried Kayote and ask for ranch on the side! The asparagus is also top notch with that butter sauce they give you, I am getting hungry thinking about it... The service is always great from the circle star brand team shoutout to Ashton, Gannon, and Robbie for great service for the 3 times I've been here. Management is great also, the man with the bald head is awesome he replenished a salad that was accidentally taken off our table early that was so kind and thoughtful SORRY for not remembering your name. Great greeting at front door with the hostess. She asked if we were celebrating anything and we said yes, my wife's birthday. They seated us with a decorative lighted bottle to let our server know we were celebrating a birthday. (More on that later) Very dark inside. Takes a minute for your eyes to adjust. My 88 yr old mother in law almost tripped because she couldn't see where she was going. Service started out fantastic and diminished quickly toward the end. We basically loss our waiter after the food was served. There was no birthday amenity. Why put the bottle out if there is no birthday offer? Acoustics are bad and customer chatter is so loud you can't carry on a dinner conversation. Overpriced food that you can get at an authentic Mexican restaurant for a fraction of the price. No Happy Hour, but plenty of overpriced cocktails. Will not be returning to this location. read more

Since opening, we eat here on average twice a month, my husband always mixes it up on his choices, but his favorite is the Filet Enchiladas, i order the combo fajitas with beef, chicken and shrimp and will say it's more than enough food for two people to split. The Not a Karen Margarita is perfect, and now that we discovered the filet queso, we order it every time, even though it's way too much for just 2 people. Service is top notch, food is really good, and the location is perfect for us. If you have not tried this place, you must. Fantastic Tex-Mex and exceptional service--perfect for family dinner! $$$ We headed to Cactus Canyon for a weeknight Tex-Mex dinner with my daughter's family, and even on a busy Tuesday evening, this spot impressed. The space is clean, modern and welcoming. Once seated, our server promptly took drink orders for three adults and one little one, and the chips and salsa arrived shortly after. The warm salsa was flavorful, but mild--our server quickly resolved that with a spicy verde salsa that hit the spot. This Marty B's restaurant is incredibly well-managed and laser-focused on service. We had no fewer than five visits from three different managers throughout the meal. Despite the buzz of activity (numerous greeters, food runners, and attentive servers), it never felt overwhelming--just incredibly polished and efficient. We started with the poblano queso, which was absolutely fantastic. The spicy margaritas? Delicious, especially with their four salt options--be sure to ask about them. For entrees, we shared steak fajitas and a combination plate, both cooked to perfection. Even my picky grandson devoured his steak quesadilla--a small miracle! The price point is a little high, but that won't keep me away. For 3 adults and one 4-year-old, our bill was $150 + tip. With this level of service and quality, it's absolutely worth it. I guess they figured that since they're on the pricey side of town they could charge more for mediocre food. I mean it's not bad but it's not great. Crispy tacos are kind of a hard thing to mess up but they did. Tried to be "fancy" with some weird spicing and it just didn't work at all. Fajita Combo (for two): $48 I forget how much the delicious queso blanco appetizer was, but the serving was barely enough for four people. The fajitas had more onions and peppers than protein. Private party for Father's Day! With 4 little ones (grands ) under the age of five, having a private dining room was a must! It holds up to 20 people. The TV and seating area were an unexpected treat! My husband could watch The U.S. Open! While I was hesitant to book the private room, in the long run it was well worth it. The children could roam about the room and play on the patio with supervision. This was a more relaxed atmosphere than being in the general dining areas. Seth (general manager) was great to work with. He was very responsive via email and met us in person shortly after we arrived in the room. Our servers Carly and Miguel were attentive and flexible. Margaritas were excellent. Wine was good. Food was great. Desserts...fantastic! It is a splurge, but a great way to gather family together to celebrate. read more
