Came out here due to a raving referral, but was only expecting a Mexican restaurant. That's an understatement. Its more like a specialized Mexican restaurant. TVs are everywhere covering all sports. It is very dark, so be prepared.it takes awhile to adjust your eyesight...Just give it a short while and then try to look at the menu. The environment inside is somewhat fancy with the large bar and dimly lit environment. The outside is a covered patio. They have fans going, especially when it's 105f outside. Our server was Stella and she was fabulous. The food was good - i loooooved the ground beef enchiladas and cilantro rice.

Packed house on a Saturday night

Does it look cool? Yep. Is it packed to capacity on the weekends? Yep. But Cactus Canyon seems to be wildly popular simply because...it's wildly popular. Visited for the first time with a friend for dinner on a Saturday evening and was shocked by the crowds. We didn't mind the 30 minute wait for a table at 5:45PM, and the three hostesses were cheerful and adorable. But man, the restaurant is all-caps LOUD. Even in a booth, we had to practically yell to carry on a conversation. For some reason, they also keep the interior very dark. Like, movie theater dark. Our server was polite and the menu has some creative apps along with tried-and-true TexMex entrees. We shared the Texas Egg Rolls as a starter and they were truly delicious. Highly recommend. But I was sorely disappointed by the beef quesadilla I ordered as a main dish. I opened the tortillas to find maybe--maybe--four ounces of fajita beef for the whole quesadilla. For $25, I was expecting it to be overflowing with beef in every bite, but it was basically a large flour tortilla with Monterrey Jack, plus one piece of raw onion and a few small shreds of meat in each quesadilla slice. The pico was good and the salsa that comes with the chips was super flavorful. I saw folks sipping on frozen margaritas that I'm sure were delish, too. But the service was just average and the food overpriced for what you get. I kind of which I could give 3.5 stars, which makes me sad because I love Marty B and I know how much he loves and supports the community in Denton county. But as for Cactus Canyon, I likely won't be back.

We ventured over to Argyle today to try Cactus Canyon. We were excited because we've heard so many good things, but overall it was just average for our group. I ordered the tortilla soup. The bowl was a generous size, but it was extremely salty and a bit spicier than I expected. I love salty food, but this was a little over the top for me. One friend ordered the chicken chimichanga. The portion was huge, and she said the outside was perfectly crispy, but the chicken inside was a little dry. She did really enjoy the charro beans and rice. Another friend had the birria tacos. He said the meat was tender but felt the tacos themselves were pretty average. My husband ordered the brisket quesadillas, and those ended up getting the best review at our table. He said the brisket was tender and flavorful. My mom had the chicken nachos, which looked delicious, and she thoroughly enjoyed them. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It has a trendy, modern vibe with a darker atmosphere that we really liked. It was pretty loud during our visit, not because of the music, but I think the concrete floors make the acoustics a little challenging. Robbie was our server, and he did a great job taking care of us. I've really enjoyed the other restaurants owned by Marty B, so I hate giving this one a lower rating. Based on this visit, I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars. It wasn't a bad experience but it just didn't quite live up to the expectations we had. We'll definitely give it another try down the road and hope it impresses us a little more the next time around.

First time in as this is relatively new I believe. Beautiful space and love the interior. The under lite bare is nice. The bar does serve dinner and is good size seating. The staff was great and the service was wonderful. I had the chicken enchiladas which were great. Charro beans were great. Other meals at our table were beef quesadillas, cheese enchiladas, and the poblano were are great. Cheesecake and the brownie were shareable desserts. Will be back.

    Best dinner experience ever!

I've driven past Cactus Canyon so many times, and I'm so glad we finally stopped in! My daughter and son-in-law were visiting from out of state, and we wanted to try somewhere new. From the moment we walked in, everything was outstanding. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the service was impeccable, and the food... wow. This isn't your typical Tex-Mex. It's Tex-Mex elevated--creative, flavorful, beautifully prepared, and unlike anything we've had before. My daughter was so impressed that she immediately called a friend who regularly hosts guests from around the world at a local conference and event venue and told her, "This is where you need to bring people if you want them to experience Texas at its best." We'll definitely be back again and again. If you've been driving past Cactus Canyon like I had, stop the car and go in. It's an unforgettable dining experience.

My friends in Texas took to to have dinner at Cactus Canyon. The modern interior decor was chic, just a tab bit dark. A very night club feel for dinner. Ordered the taco al carbon, the steak was flavorful and blended well with the sauce. We had also orders the queso for appetizer that we ate up with basket full of chips. Our server was attentive and checked in with us throughout the meal. It was a good experience having some Tex-Mex food.

It was my birthday celebration with my kids. Food was ridiculously amazing! It started with the queso with filet in it! Wow! We had 4 different people come up and wish me a happy birthday... We sat in a booth and it was perfect for us to talk and reminisce...it wasn't as loud as you would expect. We got there at 4pm, but left at 6pm and it was packed when we left... Our server was perfect and super attentive. Thank you Marty B for this place!!!

This place was absolutely amazing. The service was great checked on our table multiple times and kept our table cleared of anything we were finished with. The food was great more of an upscale Mexican food restaurant. The facility was very clean and seemed brand new although they said they have been open for a couple years. If you're looking for a great Mexican food restaurant and you don't need to dress up for I would definitely recommend this place.

Madison our server was great. She is top tier for customer service. She gave great recommendations. Hubby and I had vodka Rita and TexMex old fashion. The food we got was good. The chicken tamales for appetizer was so good. The pablono sauce is so good they to make it as a dip. Hubby got the. Chicken enchiladas and I ordered the ground beef tacos. The ambiance at the place is nice and intimate. If you like authentic food this is your go to place.

Searched for local restaurants since we are moving to the area and came across Cactus Canyon!! I was going to join the wait list ahead of time but there was no wait. When we arrived, we were seated. Inside is dimly but nice decor. Service was great - our server told us the off menu specials. We had the egg roll starter such was really good. I got the frozen espresso martini and hubby got a margarita. Both were really good - I'm not a big drinker and the martini definitely had me a little giddy, lol!!! Between the four of us, we had the brisket quesadillas, fajita beef quesadillas, enchiladas, and chimichanga. Everyone enjoyed their food so we ended with dessert that we all shared. It was good as well. We will definitely be back.

The food was very tasty, and the staff was very friendly and patient in answering all of our questions. One thing I wasn't a fan of was the amount of plastic used in the bowls where food was stored. I understand this may be a cost-effective way to reduce water usage and the additional resources needed for cleaning, but I do have concerns about potential plastic exposure when it comes into contact with hot food. We do have types of plastic bags which says does not leach chemicals in to food but it still irks me personally. Let me set the scene: I walked in expecting a casual meal and maybe a decent taco. What I got instead was a borderline spiritual awakening wrapped in foil and served with rice and beans. First of all -- the giant piña colada. When they say giant, they are not messing around. This thing arrived like it had its own gravitational pull. I'm pretty sure I saw a small family of tourists orbiting it. One sip and I was transported to a beach that doesn't even exist on any map -- coconutty, icy perfection with just enough kick to make me briefly consider texting my boss that I've moved to an island and won't be returning. Then came the beans. Listen carefully: I don't throw this word around lightly -- perfect. These beans were so good I genuinely paused mid-bite and just stared into the middle distance reevaluating my entire life. Creamy, rich, seasoned like someone's abuela whispered ancient secrets into the pot. I would trust these beans with my taxes, my passwords, and honestly my emotional well-being. And the corn tortillas... dear lord, the corn tortillas. I have had tortillas in many places, including at my own abuela's table -- and saying this feels like confessing a sin -- but these might be the best I've ever had besides abuela's. Warm, soft, slightly charred in all the right places, like they were handmade by someone who has been perfecting this craft since before I was born and possibly before electricity was invented. If I could build a house out of these tortillas, I would. I would live there. Happily. And then--just when I thought things couldn't escalate further--the huevos rancheros arrived. Eggs cooked to that perfect sweet spot where the yolk still has a little rebellion left in it, laid over a bed of everything that matters, all tied together with a sauce that refuses to be anything less than unforgettable. It's the kind of breakfast that makes you question why you ever settle for anything less in life. Comforting, bold, and somehow both rustic and wildly impressive at the same time. Everything else on the plate? Outstanding. Rice that actually deserves to be eaten and not just politely ignored. Salsa that sneaks up on you like, "oh this is nice--OH okay there it is." Service? Friendly, fast, and somehow emotionally supportive. Atmosphere? The kind of place where you immediately feel like a regular even if it's your first time. Final verdict: If you are anywhere within a 50-mile radius of Denton and you are not eating at La Fondita Mexican Restaurant, you are making a series of deeply questionable life choices. I came in hungry. I left changed.
