Awesome. The best sangria I've ever had. Octopus was amazing, and the staff was super friendly.

Near the Prado. Remarkable Venezuelan food and friendly service from two brothers. Arepas were amazing, particularly burrata with pesto.

Like others, we were looking for something other than tapas and we found this little gem. Cacao looks small when you first walk in, but they do have another level. Service was quick and friendly. We had the reina pepiada arepa (with shredded chicken, mayo and avocado), grilled octopus and the pork tenderloin. They were all soooo good. The caramelized onions on the pork were a bit too sweet for my taste but hubby loved it. Grilled octopus was tender and perfectly seasoned, not rubbery at all. Sangria was pretty good, a bit sweeter than what I'm used to, but it may just be me. For dessert, tres leches cake and quesillo (Venezuelan flan). Both very good. They do have their own version of tapas as well. We didn't get chance to try it this time, but the night is young we may have to come back.

Probably the biggest octopus leg I've eaten! Super tender and juicy, just a bit too salty. The piña colada was yummy, and the steak was a good one as well. The only thing is that I feel that the dishes were all a bit too salty... In addition, the waiter kept forgetting what people were ordering: he'd send the wrong dishes to the wrong tables, come back to ask us 'wait did you want a or b?', etc, and gave people attitude for it (even though he was the one who hadn't paid attention). However, it wasn't as if it completely ruined the meal or anything, but if he had done his job (I've really never seen a waiter be worse at his job.... it was relatively empty too at the time), I would have given 4 stars instead of 3. Overall a good meal.

It was raining and I decided I didn't want to walk to far from my hotel so I decided to stop in. The food was excellent!!! The service was top notch.. I ordered grilled octopus and they didn't over cook it. They turned on the football (Soccor) game while I ate. Truly enjoyed my visit.

The food here was amazing and the staff was super friendly. We ordered the patacones, which are fried plantains flattened into a pancake serve with salsa, guacamole and shredding beef- absolutely delicious. We also ordered chicken and beef arepas which were very tasty and their burrata salad was so good (beware- it's a ton of burrata). We also ordered a pitcher of sangria, which was delicious. They had an awesome music playlist going while we ate which helped to make our dinner an amazing experience. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Madrid!

Cacao is an excellent dinner and snack spot in Madrid. There's a front cafe section, a dining area in the back, and entertainment downstairs. It mainly serves authentic Venezuelan food which was delicious. The service was quick and polite. They speak both Spanish and English (and even have an English menu). We ordered Arepas (which are like sandwiches) and Carne mechada (which is like a pulled beef dish). Both were excellent and flavorful. Pics below! I would recommend you stop by at Cacao on your visit to Madrid!

TL;DR - Hidden gem that is worth a visit! Visited Cacao Restobar for dinne while I was visiting Madrid. I ordered following: - Jamon - Patatas Bravas - Garlic Prawns - Pork Tenderloin - Sangria All of the food that I ordered was great and Sangria was probably one of the best I've had so far. Touch of cinnamon they put in the sangria does an amazing job of completing the flavor of the drink as a whole with other ingredients. When you're done with the meal, they bring out homemade bailey's with your check. Friendly staff, great food and drinks, and fair price.

I just loved this little hidden gem! It was conveinantly located on the same street as our AirBnB so we decided to give it a try for dinner one night. This was probably one of my favorite places to eat in Madrid! The staff was awesome. They seated us quickly, they spoke great English, they were friendly and attentive! They actually cared if we enjoyed our food. The prices were also very good for how fulfilling the food was. Many of the items on the menu were things I'd never heard of but I was excited to try everything. They also have a non-alcoholic drinks menu which was a rare thing in Madrid. This alone made me more than happy with the place. We started off with the Tequenos, which are basically supper yummy cheese sticks. They are huge and stuffed with cheese. They are definitely a MUST. We also tried the chicken Arepa which was essentially a cold chicken salad stuffed between two soft pieces of bread. This was our least favorite item. My husband had the Fajitas and I had the Grilled Octopus. GET THE GRILLED OCTOPUS! It was so tender, juicy, big and just full of flavor. This was the best Octopus I'd had in Madrid (I was eating it everywhere I went!) I would recommend this place to anyone in Madrid for dinner. I would definitely go back any time I make a trip to Madrid.

I stopped by this place around 1pm for lunch while waiting there check into my hotel. The server spoke little English and I was seated right away. I will ordered the grilled Octopus and shrimp in garlic in butter sauce. I was disappointed in how small the shrimps were. However the sauce was very flavorful. They gave you breads on the side so that you can dip them in the garlic butter sauce goodness! The flavor from the shrimps were so good I found the Octopus bland. The Octopus was tender but lack of flavor when compared to the shrimps. However I did not regret ordering it.

AAAAMAZING FOOD. my husband and I went here on a date. We were visiting Madrid for the weekend and was looking for a romantic dinner spot. Although the setting wasn't "romantic" the food was delicious. I couldn't finish my entire meal! If i ever go back to madrid, i will definitely be back.

It has that classic bustling tapas bar energy where everyone is close enough to feel like part of one big conversation. The food was the highlight. The clams were flavorful and fresh, the octopus was cooked beautifully and the paella was delicious. It is a great place to stop in for a drink and a quick bite, especially if you want something authentic and lively. When we visited, it was packed to the point where you were shoulder to shoulder with other guests and close enough to easily hear the party next to you. It adds to the charm if you enjoy that classic crowded European dining atmosphere, but it is something to keep in mind if you prefer more space.

Service was in Spanish or English, and they were patient with my poor Spanglish butchery. Everyone was friendly. Service was paced to be leisurely but it was not slow. Inside was cool on a hot day and decor was upscale. I wouldn't roll in wearing gym shorts and a t-shirt but there was outside seating in the plaza outside. Not that we even considered it that day, evening would have been a different story. The area has a lot to see if you want to wonder around and then swing in or take your time after. This will definitely be a regular stop when we are in Madrid. The restaurant is located in the heart of Madrid on a very cute street, and it is easy to find and walk there if you stay in the city center. The place is not very big - both times I went there for lunch, there were no tables available, so I had to sit at the bar; once I even had to wait about 7 minutes until one bar spot became free. The restaurant's design is simple, but pretty and lovely. Overall, the restaurant is in very good condition and was perfectly clean both times I visited. The only small downside is that the place is quite noisy, but it did not bother me. One of the best things about this place is the people who work there - both a guy and a lady at the bar were extremely nice and friendly to me; plus, both spoke very good English. They gave me recommendations on what to try, and I followed their advice. The restaurant's menu is not big, but it has all the most popular traditional Spanish dishes. Both times I ordered Rabo de Toro (a traditional Spanish stew), Fardos (squid rolls with bacon and squid ink mousse); and once I also tried croquetas de jamón (ham croquettes). The croquettes were tasty - I loved their flavor and soft texture. One portion includes 6 pieces, and they are quite big and filling. It was my first time trying Fardos (I ordered a 1/3 portion), and it was a great experience - the dish turned very delicious after the bartender mixed it for me. The squid was cooked very nicely, and combined with the fresh bacon and ink mousse, it tasted fantastic. Rabo de Toro (I ordered a 1/2 portion) was also my first time trying this dish, and I loved it - the stew was perfectly cooked, very soft and moist, with rich flavors, and it melted in my mouth. The restaurant also offers a wide variety of drinks, especially wines. I do not drink alcohol, so I was recommended to try grape juice - Mosto, which was extremely flavorful and tasted like fresh pressed grape juice, even though it came from a glass bottle. I loved that drink! Price-wise, all items on the menu seemed reasonable. I paid €8 for 6 ham croquettes, €12 for a half portion of Rabo de Toro, €8 for a 1/3 portion of Fardos, and €3 for one glass of grape juice. It is possible to have a nice full lunch here for around €22, which is reasonable for a restaurant in the heart of Madrid. The place accepts all major credit cards and Apple Pay, which is a big plus. If you visit this restaurant, I strongly recommend trying 1/3 or 2/3 portion of Fardos, a half portion of Rabo de Toro, and their grape juice Mosto - it's enough food to feel full and experience traditional Spanish flavors.

I ordered the Oxtail (Rabo de Toro) and wooooow... easily one of the most tender and delicate pieces of meat I've EVER had. They serve it boneless, but I'm pretty sure if they would have provided a bone, it would've fallen right off. The whole place gives cozy tavern vibes with a rustic interior that feels perfectly Madrid. NOTE: the portions are a bit heavier than most spots. I hate to waste food, especially when it's as immaculate as the Oxtail, but if you're a party of one, you got to do what you go to do.
