I tried a few other chocolate stores nearby and this was by far our favorite. We came back every day we were in town! The chocolate shells are light and yet crisp. The variety of fillings are unique and delicious without being too sweet or strong. The jams inside are also light and flavorful. The strawberry cheesecake, lemon blueberry, honey lavender, hazelnut, and mocha were our favorites. The packaging is sturdy and I like that there was a protective cover. Service was friendly. Overall highly recommended if you're a chocolate person!

I picked up some lose bags around the store - they had 1/4 and 1/2lb bags of fun different treats around the store. I picked up some chocolate covered s'mores and dark chocolate covered espresso beans. Both absolutely delicious. I also got a box of some other goodies. So when I saw one opening in Kingston almost a decade ago I just shrugged and kept going. After learning Dianne Reeder's story you realize this isn't your ordinary candy store. Yes they have over 400 kinds of candy you can buy in bulk and the store has your typical kitschy trinkets but if you look deeper it's where you find Diane's passion and empathy for others. She just wants to make your day a little easier and for you to leave happier than you came. Certainly this isn't hard when you're scooping Janes Ice cream and serving vegan homemade soft serve using Fruition chocolate and coconut milk. Even this is fairly common place in a world over run by NYC transplants expecting everything to be homemade and gluten free. Where Dianne is different, is her commitment to community. In 2005, Diane was the winner of the Microsoft/Bill Gates Start Something Amazing Award (a program honoring the unique and inspiring ways that people use Microsoft related technology to pursue their everyday passions) for her work bringing attention to food insecurity. Her passion for cooking and her desire to help others led her to find a nonprofit organization called The Queens Galley in Kingston. The work she did with the Kingston Farmers Market was instrumental in getting them to accept food stamps. Diane's mission to have people come together and break bread in dignity has now spread across the country. Her commitment even landed her a diner at the Whitehouse with President Obama. To add to her resume she graduated the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park while raising 3 kids and running the candy bar. But let's get to the point. Diane is a pillar of the community where everybody knows her name. But what about the food? Just sitting outside snacking on my freshly roasted nuts (still warm) sipping on my 72hr steeped Lavazza cold brew I'd say simply perfect. While the flavors aren't super unique and not cheap, the ice cream is homemade and organic. I enjoyed the Mexican chocolate, which was vegan (and I haven't found a lot of vegan ice creams that were that great). While the inside is pretty bare bones, there's a few tables and chairs outside that are fun to sit at. They also have colored chalk to entertain the kiddos. If you're in the mood for a treat stop by!

The chocolate pieces are very rich ans the macaroons are not too sweet and soft. Most of these pieces are made with coconut cream and the taste is very prominent. I had a snickers doodles cookie. While the texture is moist, the coconut taste is very strong. I actually prefer a regular snickerdoodle cookies. Great if you are a vegan.

Their baked goods looked delectable: pillowy cookies, nice colored macarons, cupcakes in different flavors, etc. They also had fun ornaments and candles, honeys, tea/coffee, vegan cheese, chocolate and other small gifts. Some of their prices also seemed decent compared to a few other shops that we stopped into. Street parking only but apparently they don't check meters on Saturdays. It's also right next to the farmers market when that's in season.

I love that they're willing to mix flavors... I got Cookie Dough and some kind of Chocolate Panda Paws thing. Very good, both of them. I was lucky enough to get the Owner to serve me and he chatted my family up for a good deal of time just after closing, as we were some of the last customers of the night. We were lucky to find them open when my daughter got an ice cream craving. So many things are still closed up here now (either due to COVID or it being early in the Spring), and we walked in right before closing time and didn't get our 'bulls basted'... it was a relief for something like good ice cream to be had on our vacation. Thank you for the really nice reception, Mr. Owner & crew! And yes, your ice cream has got to be about half the price of what that generous portion would be down south in NYC!
