    BlackBerry sangria

This restaurant is upstairs in the Hoxton Hotel. We sat out on the heated patio by the fireplace. I loved the Hu-go Girl cocktail And the blackberry sangria cabra cooler. The chicken empanadas were fantastic. The crust was flaky and delicious and the chicken was perfectly seasoned. The chicken thigh skewers were also tasty. Service was excellent! Highly recommend for a great dinner!

Cabra was excellent. Our server was super helpful with drinks and food orders and both were delicious. My favorite dishes were the chorizo queso and the crispy pork shank. The queso came with two types of dippers that were both really good even by themselves and dip was cheesy and delicious but also kinda herby and had a really unique flavor. The pork shank was an experience that I highly recommend. You get two different sauces and little pitas and get to make little pita pockets. The pork just falls right off the bone, sooooo good. The spicy tuna dip was a surprise #3 for me. I really liked the seaweed chips and the dip had just the right amount of spice. The shishitos were also pretty solid. The salmon ceviche was another surprise for me since I'm not usually into ceviche but I really liked the flavor. The chicken skewers, tuna tataki, and empanadas were all good, too, but none of them were out of this world for me.

Had a great brunch here. My dad loved the salmon ceviche. Plates are meant to be shareable. They are kid friendly (which can be hard to find in west loop) and everyone was sweet to my curious nephew. Absolutely love the vibes and decor. Will def be back during warm weather to experience the roof top and pool area

Beautiful decor inside great for a brunch, although the menu is a little limit. There is more than enough street parking in the restrooms were clean. Our server was very knowledgeable and prompt.. I ordered the Green Saint Bramble and I had a second one it was so good. We ordered the goat empanadas, chicken thighs skewers, bass ceviche, silchipapas, and for dessert picarones and chocolate on chocolate with crunchy chocolate. The plates are served family style but it's so good. Everything was delicious. Their taro chips were so good. The reason I'm giving it four stars is because the menu is fairly small and they were out of certain ingredients for drinks.

We were considering Cabra for our wedding as I love Stephanie Izards food so we wanted to treat our family to dinner there. Of note I've been before for birthday parties and the service was great and everyone so pleasant. The west loop views were stunning and the vibe was overall great. We had a sampling of the menu: spicy sticky wings, goat empanadas, shrimp ceviche, tuna tataki, shrimp tacu tacu, seared halibut, and lomo saltado, picarones, and soft serve. Also loved the chilcano and mocktail. A tried and true favorite it's the goat empanada filled with well balanced flavors. The tuna tataki was refreshing. The lomo felt like it was missing rice. The picarones are sweet potato doughnuts and the perfect way to end the meal combined with the refreshing soft serve. Overall recommend checking out this rooftop spot at the Huxton.

Back so soon? Yes, yes I am. Came here for happy hour and I liked the deals! I got the pisco sour which was really good and on happy hour for a good price off. We ordered the empanadas- I decided the Swiss chard and kale is my favorite. We also ordered the hot chorizo and queso dip... 2 of them and I still found it sooo delicious.

Cabra is always an amazing experience. Our server was so wonderful and he gave us such an amazing suggestions because my friend is mainly pescatarian. We had mostly seafood based options, but you can really taste the quality in the fish. It was super flavorful and definitely left me wanting more. I wasn't a huge fan of the Yuuka fries, but otherwise everything tasted amazing. Cabra is a great way to start a late night. The ambience was amazing. There was a DJ spinning records so I was getting my groove on.

If I could give Cabra 10 stars, I absolutely would! It was our first time dining here, and everything exceeded expectations. Our waitress was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and laid-back with great views, dim lighting, and spotless surroundings. We ordered four dishes -- Salmon Ceviche, Goat Empanadas, Shrimp Tacu Tacu, and Salchipapas -- and each one was outstanding. The Salchipapas were my favorite; the fries stayed crispy even after 20 minutes, and the chorizo was phenomenal -- spicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Honestly, they should serve it as its own dish! I also tried Peruvian beer for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by how smooth and refreshing it was. From the food to the service and ambiance, Cabra delivers on every level. It's rare to find a place that nails both flavor and experience so perfectly. I can't wait to come back -- this spot is officially on my list of Chicago favorites!

Stopped by Cabra on a work trip to Chicago. When you arrive parking can be a bit tricky since the restaurant is located in the west loop area. I ended up street parking and paying the meter but it took a couple laps around the block to find parking. Also Cabra is located on the rooftop of the Huxton and has great views of the city. When you arrive you'll enter the hotel and take the elevator up to the rooftop. Once you arrive you'll check in with the host and be seated. I'd recommend grabbing a reservation as it can be tricky to walk in here. When we sat down we started by ordering the Goat empanadas with huacatay mayo, the salmon ceviche, the steak saltado, and the shrimp ceviche. By far my favorite dishes were the goat empanadas and steak saltado. I definitely would not arrive starving as the portions were served tapas style and can be a bit small. I'd love to return to Cabra during the summer to sit outside. I definitely recommend checking this place out if you are in the west loop and are craving some good Peruvian food.

A top 5 restaurant in Chicago for me. I came here in 2023 (it is currently 2025) but have this place ingrained in my memory. If you come here, prepare to think about it for the rest of your life. It's the restaurant equivalent of the hottie you talk to briefly at the airport that you never see again. This place is absolutely gorgeous, located on the rooftop of a hotel in the middle of west loop. Huge windows throughout, with tons of natural light and an amazing view of the city. Came with a reservation and got seated immediately. For a party of three, we ended up ordering six dishes. Goat empanadas: extremely flavorful, with a sauce to accompany it. This was my first time trying goat, and I loved it. Jalea Mixta: a crowd favorite. We all agreed this was one of the best things we ordered. a seafood platter of sorts, with plaintains and garnished with tomatoes, greens, red onions. Salchipapa: Peruvian nacho fries. Amazing flavor, and is a larger, more shareable plate. Chicken thighs: for a menu item that sounds more basic/simple than the rest, they really outdid themselves. Packed with flavor, extremely tender. Shrimp tacu tacu: another crowd favorite, and my personal favorite. Absolutely worth trying. A tomato-y sauce over shrimp with a base of crispy rice. Salmon ceviche: cannot go wrong with a salmon ceviche. this was full of flavor. A bit smaller of a plate, harder to share with more than 2 people.

    Shrimp Ceviche and Crab Causa
    Sydney H.

Cabra was soooo good!!!! We tried their shrimp ceviche, crab causa, and chicken empanadas. It was all packed with flavors I've never had before and was delicious!!! The views from Cabra are amazing too, I recommend making a reservation on the terrace (which was covered when I went at the beginning of September) so you can experience the beautiful views. Almost everything on their menu is a small plate, meant to be shared with the table. It's a little pricey for how small the dishes are, but you are definitely paying for the quality and the atmosphere. It's not somewhere you're going to leave super full unless you order a ton of stuff. It's the perfect place for a good cocktail and a few small bites.

    Avocado Dip
    Clarissa H.

I've been to Cabra a few times but this was easily the best yet, as most of my friends are vegetarian and we were able to share and sample so many dishes! They have a separate vegetarian menu that you have to ask for, and it has more options than their regular menu. There is also a gluten free menu that lists everything that either is gluten free or can be made gluten free, which was really helpful. Cabra is such a pretty restaurant that there really is no bad seat in the house. Some seats are outside, so it's worth bringing a little jacket in case it's chilly! The avocado dip is a classic and everyone always loves it. I think my favorite dishes were: the tuna dip, the blistered green beans, and solterito. The tuna dip was surprisingly tender, and I loved the puffed seaweed chips. The green beans were sooo good with the sticky peanut sauce. I had never had solterito before, but the dish was fresh and bright and very tasty. I can't wait to go back!

Anticucho de Pollo was also very yummy. Cocktail I had a Chicha Punch which wasn't exactly my favorite but it's because it's a red wine and tequila mix, the red wine didn't do it for me. Interior was really neat, and the music was not too loud or too quiet either which I always appreciate. We had several appetizer dishes, as well as the arroz Mariscos. The only thing I did not like about this place was that the food all came out a different times. The other couple that we were with had several of their dishes before we had anything. We did order chips to split at the table, so it's not like we had nothing to eat, but I feel like when restaurants bring things out as they are made, it lends to a weird dynamic between two different couples if you were ordering together. As Peruvians, we were especially excited to try it. I started with the Yucas Trufadas paired with a pisco sour. The yucas were tasty, and the truffle huancaína added a unique twist, while the pisco sour was excellent. It tasted like a good pisco sour, and a great way to start. For the second course, I had the chaufa alongside the sohoul cocktail. I'm a big chaufa lover, and while this wasn't traditional in appearance, it was excellent. The maitake mushrooms added a slightly crunchy texture that I really enjoyed. The Sohoul, however, was my least favorite of the drinks. Lychee just isn't my jam. For dessert, I had the lúcuma ice cream paired with an espresso martini. The ice cream was a 10/10. Rich, flavorful, and not something you can find in stores. The espresso martini was a perfect match for me as a coffee lover. Definitely more coffee-forward than sweet, and a great pick-me-up to end the meal. Service was seamless, with our server bringing each new drink right as we finished the last. Between the cocktails and the thoughtfully portioned courses, we left feeling satisfied and not at all hungry. I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try, just keep in mind it leans more toward a fine dining experience rather than traditional Peruvian street-style food.

We never expected happy hour to be relevant for us, but our wonderful server pointed it out. Since none of us had tasted pisco before she brought us a pisco sample to try. Three of the four of us ordered pisco cocktails, and they were great! The chilcano is a pisco variation on a Moscow mule. I'm not a big fan of mules, but I liked the chilcano a lot. Whenever I'm back, I'll probably go for the pisco sour, which one of our party had and also really enjoyed. The arroz chaufa was a nice satisfying dinner that wasn't too heavy for the early hour. The loma saltado and vegetable saltado were both very much enjoyed as well. Flan was just okay. The orange was a wonderful touch that probably saved something much too custardy for me to think of as flan. Service was absolutely great. Everyone we interacted with was super professional and easy going. We didn't know what to expect for the space, and when we arrived before sunset, it felt weird how bright it was in there. I was hoping to find something similar here in Chicago, but since that doesn't really exist, I searched for authentic Peruvian cuisine instead, and that's how I found this spot. I came on a weeknight to treat myself to dinner. I'll be honest: the place looked a bit sketchy from the outside. I even walked past it at first because there were only two people inside, and the restaurant looked pretty empty and uninviting. But since I had already driven nearly 30 minutes, I decided to give it a try, and I'm glad I did! I was greeted and seated right away and given time to look over the menu. The ceviche de pescado came out quickly, super fresh, and in a huge portion: honestly one of the largest ceviche dishes I've ever seen at a restaurant. I also ordered lomo saltado, one of the staples. It came with a generous serving of rice and beef. I do wish it had more fries, but that's an easy fix at home.
