Do not, do not, do not use Cablevision/altice/optimum whatever the hell they want to call it....the service is beyond horrendous! An absolute nightmare! And when you try to resolve anything at all, you finally get a human on the phone, they barely speak English and get an attitude with you when you have no clue what the hell they're saying in their native tongue! No phone line for seven months! Ooopsies. Worst cable connection anywhere and they just ignore you if you can possibly get someone on the phone and not just bill payment prompts! Gee some times the DVR option works, sometimes it doesn't, some times your TV has service, sometimes it doesn't, and it does all sorts of glitchy things - horrific. Call for service, oh three weeks and maybe they can fit you the hell in! Then they don't call the way they say they will, to say they are coming, obviously fix the loose wire outside you complained about AND THEN CHARGE YOU AN INSANE AMOUNT FOR A MISSED SERVICE CALL when you were home waiting for them! We have been Optimum customers for many years now. If you want tO get technical my family was cablevisioon customers since the 80s at least! For the last 6 weeks we have been dealing with a non stop nightmare! Started on 12/20/19 when I service when out, no tv, no internet and no phone! Call customer service who had a tech sent out who waS a sub contractor the next day 12/21. He knew and did absolutely NOTHING! Couldn't find the problem anywhere and spent an hour in my house! Told us to call back customer service to have a tech actually from optimum to come out...we called again the next day. Tech on phone THEN told us that our modem was bad, she could t even see it to connect to it! This was Sunday 12/22. Had to wait till talk to you later next day to get a new modem. Monday 12/23. We get a new modem. Guess what?? It wasn't the modem either! When calling customer service they could see this modem either! Now we are at 2 day before Christmas. Told we wouldn't be able to get an appointment again till Jan 2! Seriously?? Somehow my daughter was able to get an expedited ticket put in for appointment onn 12/27. Now we are 6 days already. 12/27 an actual higher level tech came out and told us that the box on the pole leading to our house was bad and he would have to put in a ticket for another tech that replaces those to come out. Another day no service. 12/28 FINALLY LATE in the day a tech came out to replace that box. Then our service FINALLY came back on! 8 days no service! I called back optimum to tell them that I better be getting a credit for those 8 days I was with NO service to which I was told I was! January bill come, no credit, I called customer service AGAIN and tort me tell you, I would rather have a root canal then have to deal with these customer service people who barely so peak english cause they are in some foreign country and haven't a CLUE ABOUT LONG ISLAND CABLE AND INTERNET SERVICE! And how long you have to wait to talk to just a warm body is a whole other story!! When I was finally connected to the retention Dept after threatening disconnection, I got this nasty nasty woman who had an attitude from the word hello!! This woman proceeds to tell me shhe ssees a credit for the next bill but can't tell me HOW much that credit is cause she tells me she can't actually see the amount. Seriously???? Promises me there wilL be a credit on next months bill! I get my bill, not only is there STILL no credit but they charged us an 80 dollar service fee for the whole fiasco!!! Horrible! I didn't even get the service and they caused me all kinds of problems. The salesman was pushy and would not take no for an answer when I told him I wanted to think about switching my service. I finally set up an appt. just to get rid of him. I called the next day and cancelled the appt. About ten minutes later, I received an email confirming the appt. I called them back and they told me the appointment was cancelled. I then got an email from Verizon saying that I was switching my service to Altice. I called Verizon and explained. They said if I cancelled they would received notification. The following week I get a text from the salesman reminding me about my appointment! I told him I had cancelled it. He then proceeded to send me numerous texts about why I should switch again. By the way, his big savings was more money than what I paid with Verizon for the same service. I called Verizon to make sure the change request was no longer on my account - it still was. Long story short, I was on the phone for over ten hours over the next three days trying to resolve this. Altice would answer the phone on the first ring if I chose the option of placing an order. Once they heard my issue, I was switched to the "requisition department" and on hold each time for over an hour. It was ridiculous! Each time I was told it was resolved only to be told by Verizon that it wasn't. Most annoying, aggravating time ever. I will NEVER switch to Altice just due to their crappy customer service. As a commercial customer I called 6 times to have a $59.95 service call reversed as the technician never repaired the problem. Each time I was told I would get a call back as they would have to research my request. I was never called back! This went on for months. I refused to pay the bill until the issue was resolved. Finally I was told I could visit a local office in Hauppauge to discuss and resolve my issue. I did so on 09/07/17. I was told there was nothing they could do to reverse a service call that was made even though the issue was not resolved on that technician's visit back in April of 2017. I asked to speak to a supervisor. I then spoke to a Ms. Mel ( she would not give me her last name or company initials) was nice she stated that she did not have the authority nor did anyone else have the power to change company policy and reverse the $59.95 service call fee. WHY DIDN'T SOMEONE OF THE 6 PEOPLE I SPOKE TO TELL ME WHAT MS. MEL TOLD ME? So I asked for the telephone number of the executive office. She stated it was 516-803-2300. I've been without service on one of my televisions for about one month. It has to do with my cable box and the wiring outside. No one seems to care. Worst company I have ever dealt with!!! They still act like they have a monopoly on cable and internet services. Their customer service reps are beyond rude and do not care if you cancel as a matter of fact if you even mention the word cancel they immediately say ok I'll transfer you to the cancellation department. I am so disappointed with every level of service at optimum! I am at this point all the way up to the corporate executive sales complaints department and they have been dodging my calls for days! It has been 3 weeks since they started reviewing my account, I was supposed to receive a call within the first week & got nothing! I waited and called back last week, was promised a call back in 15 min as the person on my account was on another call... NO CALL BACK. I called again 2 days later & got the same story "he will call you back in 10 min, he is on with another customer" again no call back! I called last night and today and the switch board at corporate just rang and rang and rang!!! I cannot believe how awful the customer service is and how unreliable optimum has been! I waited 4 days without internet, phone or TV for service. Twice the technician called to cancel after I had broken 2 doctor's appointments to stay home. I had to call each time to reschedule as the technician did npt bother to make the change and each time I was put in back of the list. I have used Optimum since 1986 but will switch to another service the next time they don't respond promptly. I understand that the new CEO is a cheapskate and doesn't want to hire more help. Had a very unpleasant experience regarding my bill. Called about 1 month ago to inquire about reducing my bill and the CSR inadvertently removed my multiroom dvr and then restored it within minutes. Unbeknownst to me I lost the discount. When next bill received I Called to see why it went up, that's when I discovered my bill was increased. I spoke with a CSR and a Supervisor and both told me nothing could be done. Once the discount is removed it can't be restored. I can't believe that something can't be done. If I was a new customer they would bend over backwards to sign me but being a longtime loyal customer of 32 years they don't care. I would have canceled immediately but my wife talked me out of it. I am going to research my options and will most likely cancel. This is the worst example of customer service I have ever seen. I live in the Town of Babylon, NY. I have been a loyal Cablevision /Optimum customer for over 30 something years. The rates are astonishing and outrageous! I am very displeased, annoyed, angry, upset, pissed off, etc. with cablevision. I made a payment on 7/27/18 for $478.02. I realized that there was not enough to cover the payment in my account. I called right back and explained this to whom I was speaking. I was told that the payment would not go through on my account and I was switched to the automated system to rectify the payment on another card (my husbands). On 7/28/18 the payment went through on my husbands debit card. On 7/29/18 I checked my bank statement and cablevision deducted another $478.02 out of my account, which did not go through. I was then charged an insufficient fund fee of $32.00 out of my account and $50.00 was taken from my overdraft account because I made a withdrawal and because the $478.02 was pending, my account was insufficient. On 8/2/18 cablevision took the $478.02 out of my account a 2nd time and another $32.00 insufficient fund fee was charged to my account. CABLEVISION KEPT A DOUBLE PAYMENT!! I called cablevision to have them rectify this situation and I was told by a manager that they don't give refunds and that there was no way they were paying for the insufficient fund fees or the overdraft fee which totaled $114.02. My account now, because they are going to keep trying to take a payment out for which they have been paid for already, is going to screw me up because they are keeping money that pays my other bills. My charge cards are now late, my car payment will be late and my credit thanks to CABLEVISION IS IN THE TOILET!!!!!!!! They have horrible customer service, no one has any answers, or is willing to take the next step to resolve the problem. All they give to is "we will call you back" message -- no one calls back! They were not prepared for the storm, Con-ed, Verizon, AT & T, have done their repairs and moved on ---NO OPTIMUM repair vehicles. The field repair personnel "has not upgraded the repair destination sites on Optimum websites for their technicians and customer service, nor does customer service have any knowledge when this is going to take place." I will be very sorry to say goodbye to NEWS 12 and channel 61 but my neighbors who are not Optimum customers already have service restored or a reasonable time frame for restoration. I called and canceled my service with Optimum Cable on January 21,2017.I was transferred to the retention department,a supervisor was not available at the time of my call. I was transferred back to the billing department. The representative from the billing depart. took my name and cell # and said a supervisor will return my call. A rep.named Carlos called me back Jan.23rd,2017 and finally cancelled my account. Optimum is charging me for a full month of service, when I didn't use a full month of service. I don't have a problem paying for 2 days of service. Optimum did not do their part on calling me back to cancel services. The retention dept. of course wants to retain my business. I was not interested but they have on file, that I officially canceled my account on Jan.23rd, which is incorrect. I requested Optimum to do a call review to see I did call on Jan.21 to cancel my account and they declined and said they can't do that. After 45 days, I have received no response to my complaint letter asking the executive office to remove a fraudulent charge from my bill (the technician who failed to restore cable service at my home coded the visit as "refused service at the door" , resulting in an $80 charge -- I will leave it to you to figure out whether this was an honest mistake, an attempt to cover up his failure or a way to fraudulently generate income at my expense). Prior to sending the letter, my calls to customer service put me in touch with rude representatives trained to say "No" and not listen to what I have had to say (including that I had contractors in the house happy to serve as witnesses to his fruitless efforts to restore service). After being threatened with termination of service for nonpayment of $10 of the fraudulent charge (I have been a customer for over 18 years), I emailed to follow up to my letter and was promised a written email response in 24 hours -- to date, more than 55 hours later, no response has arrived. Trying to follow up on the missing email response today, I encountered email and chat live service options that were no longer working (ironically, chat is working on the sales side -- sales promised escalation, but nothing has happened).. I've drafted the last letter I will write to this office about this matter and have no choice but to mail it via snail mail. My next step is to contact regulators and TV station consumer advocates if necessary. They do not deserve a license to do business, especially one that gives them the protections of their service license. I am a new customer as of April 2018, living in New Rochelle, New York. I have a special needs daughter that managed to order $99.00 in pay per view action films in the month of May, most that are already on the premium channels for free. My daughter doesn't understand the concept of money. She may have seen the dollar amount and not know what it was. I have tried several times to get an adjustment with no prevail. All I have heard from the customer service Dept. and supervisor is "you should monitor what going on in your home." What kind of ghetto response is that? These people know nothing about me or my household. Cablevision is running a scam this option should have been blocked or linked to my phone.
