Biggest scam in the world. Have been a paying customer for 5 years, moving out on the 31st and billing cycle starts 8 days before my move out. Policies do not allow shifts, and I am paying a whole month of overpriced, unreliable service for 8 days to be able to work from home before I move out. Use Verizon, starlink, Tmobile; I don't know just not optimum - they may similar policies but at least their services are better you don't lose internet or tv consistently. If cancelling wasn't a process in itself I would've done so long ago. On top of this - they have their hardworking staff pitch new services after outlining how wild their policies are. I started laughing. "our policies are horrible, our services are horrible, you are clearly unhappy and I can't do anything about it - but hey, are you interested in our $25/mo. Cell phone plan???" I cackled. Maybe the comedic relief gets people to bite. Overpriced, bad policy, not customer first at all, I would rather craft an antenna and use RF frequencies I pick up from my microwave before ever considering them again. We continue to have major issues with internet speed and phone service. Despite paying for 300MPS, even being next to new router& modem just installed by optimum, speed is 45mps There has been no dial tone on our phone for months. Inbound calls come in. No outbound calls possible. Told its a wire problem in the house and that's it. No solution offered. Am I expected to hire some outside resource to investigate and fix? We live out in the middle of long island. We are stuck with Altice because the town of brookhaven will not let a real company like verizon come in and add their services. This time it started on 6/13/2020. We have been having an issue with our Altice box. So we called to get it looked at. We also had questions about our $200 per month bill for channels we dont watch. The Optimum man showed up 2hrs late, it was pretty bad since he was to be here by 11am. The man checked out the system and made cable connection changes. In swapped out the Altice box with 2 others because the first one did not work right. He finally got the last box to work. Internet worked. We thought we were all good. That night we went to watch tv to find out we lost most of our channels and telephone. Called optimum and they could not get here till today, 6/14/2020. They gave us a window of 10hrs. Nice thing to do right? We sat around all day waiting for them to come. It is almost 230pm and they are finally coming. My modem that I've been leasing for $10 a month stopped working, they sent a technician over, he said the modem was defective and he replaced it. On my next bill they gave me an $80 charge for a service call, they refused to give me the $80 credit even though the technician said there would be no charge and that the problem was with their leased equipment. I am still fighting with them getting nowhere, I am getting ready to switch to FiOS. However on the morning of Friday, July 10, 2020 I turned on my TV and was denied a station that was available to me for many years. The screen stated, "Alert not authorized." ERR-25. It was station 268, NHL Hockey. I closed my TV, waited a minute or so, put my TV back on and saw the same message. I tried calling at 7:30 AM, and after receiving prompt after prompt, lasting 7 minutes, I was told the office was closed. I repeated the scenario at 12:30PM and after receiving prompt after prompt waited on the phone for exactly 48 minutes before hanging up and realizing that Optimum does not want to speak to me or any of their customers. Trying to reach a live person is absolutely impossible. It's plain and simple, customers are discouraged from speaking to service representatives. We are billed exceeding high amounts of money for services with no consideration to customer's needs. PAIN and simple. Eventually I spoke with a representative after another long phone experience who advised me that our area was experiencing difficulties with certain channels. Sounded fishy! If this was so, why wasn't this message on phone prompts explaining that there were area problems? On Saturday, my son Todd, got involved and was told that a technician would come to my house since nothing can be done remotely, thusly, insinuating we were lied to about area blackouts! As previously mentioned, I've been a customer for over 40 years and have never considered using another cable company. However, now that has changed. If I could leave negative stars I would. Recently I went to the Port Jefferson store to return a box that wasn't working properly. The customer service person offered to sell me a Apple TV box. I purchased the box and in order to get the cable tv channels I had to download the Altice One app which I did. After downloading the app it worked for 1 day. The next day I called customer service which is located in a 3rd world country. All they do is read from a script they can't troubleshoot or think for themselves. I had a technician come to my home he also did not speak English very well. He could not figure out what the issue was so he called another technician. Lies, lies and more lies. Internet Service was never at the speed we paid for even before the storm. Now for three weeks TV drops signal or is so pixelated you ca't watch. The whole neighborhood is experiencing same issues. When you call then they run you through a series of hoops ,rebooting, resetting, sending new signals. The following is a copy is a survey response I replied to with Optimum. 8/3/202 This is my second survey, my previous survey was on 7/1/2020 when I graded Optimum much higher than I will grade you today, and if I remember correctly that was not a great grade then. But I was hopeful then that my nightmare would soon be over. I have an ongoing issue from May 28, 2020. My remote stopped working and I called in May 29,2020 and was promised to have a new remote shipped to me in 7/10 days. Through a long list of errors to lengthy to go into here I finally received a new remote on 6/22/20 but unfortunately it was the wrong remote. When I spoke to Zack on 7/31/20 after numerous other contacts with Optimum on the phone, Optimum online chat and Facebook chat and in the Optimum store, he assured me that he could resolve all my issues and concerns that I was experiencing with Optimum. I explained my long list of disappointments and concerns with him, that I was without a remote since 5/27 and had to borrow one from a family member who has two set top boxes and who is anxious to get their remote back. That my wife had gone down to the Optimum store to trade in the wrong remote for the correct remote only to find out they were out of stock and that it had to be done by requesting one from Optimum online. That I had received a 14-dollar credit issued by Tanya but not the 20 dollar credit that was issued by Vladimir the following month. He put me on hold and returned with the suggestion that we reprogram the wrong remote, since they also did not have the correct remote in stock. I declined as the Altice 1 remote they sent does not have all the features of the ABC remote that stopped working. My set top box doesn't have voice recognition and so I would be without some of the features that the old remote had. He also informed me that he acknowledged the conversations that I had with Vladimir and Javier but what was in the notes as different from what they told me. This is what I was told, Vladimir issued me a 20-dollar credit. When it wasn't on my July bill I called 6/30/20 and Javier told me it would be on the next bill. It wasn't hence, my need to prolong an otherwise excruciating experience. Which I suppose I would have had to call again anyway as I still dont have a working remote of my own. I also wanted to bring to Optimums attention that since 6/23/20 when I started counting, the number of times I had to reboot my Wi-Fi to date is 10 times. I have security cameras and an AC' system that operate on Wi-Fi when it works and unfortunately not when it doesn't along with computers and of course Alexa. I plan to either call or send copies of both surveys to Corporate Optimum in hopes that someone who can actually do something does something. My frustration level is with Optimum is off the charts, how anyone can treat paying customers the way you have treated me is shameful. I plan to withhold payment until I get a response. When I spoke to Zack and he was unable to do anything for me, I requested to speak with a supervisor. Zack explained to me that one wasn't currently available but told me that in 1/2 hours I could expect a call back from a supervisor. Within the minute or so that he read from his script and asked if there was anything else he could do for me, and I told him there was, just make sure I get that call back the time went to 3/4 hours for a call back. I also requested corporate's phone number and he told me he didnt have that information. That was Friday 7/31/20 at approx. 2 PM, its Monday 8/3/20 approx. 12PM and no call back. I was much more understanding in late May early June with all that was going on I tried my best to give Optimum the benefit of the doubt, but this is beyond ridiculous. Even with all that was going on it should not have taken almost a month to ship the wrong remote and by now well over two months and I am still without a remote. I also feel I was lied to by both Vladimir and Javier. Not that 20 dollars would have made this worthwhile, the many hours I have spent along with the time I was without a remote and advised to use the app with is barely better then nothing, before I was able to borrow one was torturous. Why do I have to reboot my cable boxes first thing in the morning. Also, why do I not have access to my DVR (whether recording or watching recorded programs) after 8PM and will always get the " Unable to display this information (ise 800) " . All your telephone reps will say that they will schedule a technician to come out and I have to explain to these unknowing people that the TV is fine all day and therefore I would be subject to an $80 service fee---because it only happens at night !! The worst ISP ever in the US. Ever since Altice took over, the quality of everything is on a downward slide. Its frustrating that there is no real alternative in Piscataway, NJ. They sweet talked me into switching to their fiber service and then I slapped me with a gateway that wont let me turn off their network management capabilities like DHCP. Absolutely terrible response when I asked them to get my cable back. They want me to disconnect, wait 30 days and then request cable connection. They wont let me have the service at my address even if I am willing to pay for a second service. They have tech support who are more into reading a scripted response to you than really helping you out. No I do not recommend Cablevision. We do want to switch I don't know what to since they have control of our telephone numbers and if we switch to another service they have claimed in the past we cannot keep our landline phone numbers. I never use their optimum online email addresses and we are overpaying for service. I was given a special package which was the silver package and included showtime at the time it was a special promotion and it was taken away from us two days ago without any warning. There's really very little I like on cable. Most of what I watch is on Netflix and prime and channel 13 and 21 cable is really deteriorating they offer very little for too much money. I had to call today and explain we had the service it was working fine we've had it for years not just six months but years the man on the other end of the phone bill and told us all know you only had it six months as a promo and that was not true that was a lie. My family cancelled Optimum service nearly a decade ago, and despite repeated requests to be removed from all of their mailing and advertising lists, our household still gets inundated with junk mail, phone calls and even the occasional overly-aggressive door-to-door solicitor. I've contacted their customer service via phone, email and social media to request removal from their advertising lists, and despite getting assurances, we still get constant junk mail from Optimum coming from the same return address as this Yelp business listing. So sorry (not sorry), but this listing is where my 1-star rating will be marinating until further notice. I even affixed a large 'NO SOLICITING' sign to my front door, which I didn't invoice Optimum for even though I probably should have, specifically to dissuade Optimum door-to-door solicitors from banging on my door like they have a warrant to serve. But it's really all for naught considering they just ignore the sign anyway. If you ignore a visible sign which (politely) tells you to fuck off, what fantasy world are you living in where I'm going to waste my time listening to your lame sales pitch? What nonsensical scenario do you have in your head where I actually entertain the idea of letting you into my home? Even when calling the automated "Do Not Mail/Do Not Call" toll-free lines, if Optimum somehow manages to actually remove you from their lists, it's only for a period of 12 months and you have to call them AGAIN next year to renew your opt-out. Apparently "remove me PERMANENTLY" is a simple request this company fails to grasp. read more

I believe they want to provide excellent service to their customers. I believe they hire the best they can afford and train them properly to handle issues. HOWEVER, it's all about PERFORMANCE and your performance is miserable. I have Optimum cable, internet service and phone. I also have a Verizon hard wire phone line from 1982. I want to disconnect the Verizon number and port it and replace the number I currently have with Optimum. I called and reached an Optimum representative. She took the information at 4 minutes after I connected. She said to hold for a moment. It is now 21 minutes into the call. She did ask for my number in case we were disconnected. Where is she? A courteous company would come back on the line and say, I need more time to investigate your request, can I call you back after I review the material? That's what I expect. The representative came back on the line at 24 minutes and told me she was unable to process the request and that I should call tomorrow and ask for the sales department. Whatever Optimum/Cablevision has morphed into, it is NOT a business that apparently cares one cent about the people who pay monthly for its services. I have been trying to receive a small credit for service on my line that has been piss-poor since October of last year. I followed the rules. I called and explained my problem. I documented every instance where my internet service went out, whether for a few minutes or a few hours. I presented my situation to "supervisors" via phone calls and Facebook messaging. All I hear is that "the system will not allow a credit to you"! It seems that Optimum/Altice is more than happy to accept my monthly payments but cringes at the possibility of admitting that their service is suffering....badly! The last straw was yesterday (2/12/2021). I was given a service call on Tuesday be yet another "supervisor". I was told that someone would be at my door to look into the issue, between 2pm and 5pm. At 515pm, when no one had shown up, I called customer service. The person with whom I spoke stated that there was no standing appointment for me! The customer service people you are connected to have very bad linguistic abilities, with heavy ethnic accents that are often too hard to understand. It seems that customer service has been outsourced to someplace other than The United States. The last person with whom I spoke was in a call center that sounded like a frat party was going on around him. It was sad! If I were you, I would carefully consider your options regarding your choice for a cable/internet provider.
